I firmly believe my personal travel experiences play a large part in how I write. I have been very fortunate to have visited much of the World, and one of the places that left a lasting impression was Scotland. Soooo beautiful. The other was Canada!.

Thanks @Anton_Cloche. The chapter is what it is due in no small part to you and your sound advice. So thank you for your input. And yes, new adventures lie ahead.

Hi @mansexlover. Thanks for the comment. I think you can safely put the tissues away for now. There are happier times ahead.

Thank you @Butcher56. I tried to give the visits to the grave a more positive tone. The children, especially Jamie and Fiona, are coping much better and have found some peace. There will always be some measure of sadness when they visit Achnacarry, back use the gravesite will forever be a symbol of what they lost.

Thanks @Mancunian. Yes, most definitely the time has come to move on.

Thank you, all of you, for sticking with the story. You have no idea how much I value your comments, reactions and support

June passed in a blur, at least that is how it seemed to Andrew. The Cape had settled into its usual winrer weather pattern of north- westerly cold fronts, accompanied by gale force winds, turbulent seas and driving rain, interspersed with short periods of cool, sunny days under clear blue skies, and as the day of Claude and François wedding drew nearer, everyone was keeping a very close watch on the weather prospects. A week before the wedding, it appeared that it was going to be a very close t

A week later, on a cool, blustery Saturday morning the Devlin-Major family sat in Ryan's SUV on a dockside in Cape Town harbour and watched 'MY Amira', resplendent in her new coat of paint, being loaded onto the yacht trans-porter. She was the last in a small fleet , including a big catamaran and three other motor yachts, that would be heading for Europe. They had joined Michael and his crew earlier in the morning for a farewell breakfast on board 'Amira', prior to her being moved from the mar

@Sunshine, thank you for the lovely comment. let me put it this way - most of the story is fiction with an auto-biographical foundation. Also been around children quite a bit (not my own, unfortunately). I have a 4 year old and and 18month old (boys) in the house at the moment, my nieces two.

Hi Anton. Thanks for the comment. I did reply but it seems to have got lost with the server issues. I think I'm going to start using the delayed publication feature from now on. The chapter is fully edited before uploading (I am the first to admit that it might still not be perfect), and after saving I go back to check the edit - It normally has to be fixed in one way or another. The problem comes when I realise that the chapter is already available for reading, so I am loathe to 'Unpublish' to edit it the way it probably should be, and I already feel bad for keeping all my followers waiting for the chapter, so I just give it a quick once over for any glaring errors and re-save it. So my apologies to all of you.

Hi there @Jim Fraser. thank you for your kind comment. I'm just amazed that my story is being read. Having any impact on society will be an absolute bonus

Without wanting to sound condescending, I'm always impatient for anything you write. And a couple of week is still better than "THE END"

The muted 'click' of the bedroom door opening woke Ryan and he peered at the bedside alarm clock. 5.58am. He heard small feet padding across the laminated floor, as well as the 'tick, tick, tick' of paw nails, before the sounds were dead-ened as they reached the carpet on which the bed stood. Although he could see a glimmer of dawn through the drawn curtains, the room was still quite dark, but he was able to make out the little face of his youngest son as he stopped at side of the bed followed b

Hi Anton Been down to 1° and 2 ° just lately. The next chapter will deal with the therapy aspect although I'm no going to linger on it.

My condolences on our loss @Jim Fraser. Yeah, all I can say, is that lifes experiences are most times tough. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment

Thank you for the lovely comment and my condolences on your loss. Really pleased that you enjoyed Book 1 so much and hope you get as much enjoyment out of Book 2.

With the grandparentals visit over, things could now start getting back to normal. At least for their present circum-stances. The twins were still on holiday for five days - school would recommence on the following Tuesday. It was also the day that Jamie and Fiona would start at their pre-school. Which meant that Andrew and Ryan could return to the office as well. Andrew was fretting a little. In his opinion, he felt there were too many things that were just hanging in the air. He sat at h

Thank you @drsawzallfor the lovely comment. These last few chapters after the funeral and probably the next two as well will continue to carry the thread of Beth and Nicky. Once the George Cross ceremony is over, life will continue in a better vein for the Devlin-Majors.

Hi Ian. Snoek is a fish indigenous to the Southern Hemisphere and particularly the South African West coast. Related to the mackerel, we eat it smoked, fried and BBq'd. It's got tons of very long, fine bones but once you've got rid of them, the flesh is very tasty. George Cross - see @drsawzallcomment above,

The day that Jamie Snr and Iona arrived turned out be be a crazy one. Their flight from London Heathrow was due to arrive at 11.05am. The problem was that Andrew was told, via a note sent to all parents on the Wednesday, that due to it being the last day before the Easter holidays, school would be ending at 11.00am on Friday. Both he and Ryan had planned to take Jamie and Fiona to the airport to meet their grandparents, so the letter from the school caused, let's just say, a fair bit of constern
