As I just mentioned in my response to Kitt, details of what exactly went on with the twins will not be elaborated, but you will get a better sense of what happened to them. It is safe to assume they were abused in some form. Therapy will be an important part of their recovery.

The comments are not only insightful, but also entertaining. Every once in a while a bombshell is dropped in one of them. Conspiracy theories abound. Austin isn't so much hostile as he just doesn't have the ability to properly express himself. They'll figure it out. I don't think Sebastian will have a problem getting another team to volunteer to search for more hybrids. It's not getting wrapped up in 10 chapters. Not even close. I'll get cracking on book 3 when this one is done posting (and I finish a short side project.)

Why is a big unknown. But some of the answers aren't hard to figure out. When it comes to deviant sexual predators like the human pedophiles it's easy to take the next logical step and believe they would be more than receptive to a market in which their preferences (young kids) could stay that way. How many kids are thrown away when they reach puberty? How many die because they are no longer useful to a specific market? How many others resort to prostitution in order to survive one their pimps abandon them because they're too old? In my shifter world, it's the same idea. There's a big market for adolescent shifters. It's not a big leap to think that there are predators (shifter and human alike) whose kink is hybrid adolescents. Even though theoretically humans in general don't have knowledge of supernaturals, there will always be that segment of the population who are aware and will use that awareness to their advantage. In our world there is a huge black market for children. Especially in other countries who don't have the resources to go after those responsible. It's the same in the supernatural world. These are circumstances I wish didn't exist in either world, but it creates a realistic building block for my story. Some details will only be alluded to. I will never exploit young kids in detail in any of my stories. I just won't go there. I'm sure there will be more information forthcoming that will answer a lot of they why's, but for now I hope this helps.

There are a lot of issues and hurdles to get past. They need to get back to Montana where the support system is vast. Kage always had good in him. Elijah knew it. His killers will get what's coming to them. Just maybe not in the ways you expect. Giles will be revisited in the next story. He's doing his best to help someone who doesn't want to be helped. Corbin did the best he could with the information he had. At some point I know I addressed the whole Ken Martin thing and his knowledge of it. I just can't remember if it got edited out or not? Why doesn't it surprise me where your mind went... lol. Not to be picky... but Giles didn't think of the music. Tyler whispered to him. The best part of this site's format allowing reader comments is having readers like you. The things you pick up on often make me go "whaaaaht?" Your insights make me realize that even though I may not realize it as I'm writing, subconsciously I'm subtly connecting the dots. (Occasionally you trip me up and I dm Gnomie in a panic... lol. This chapter went through some pretty intense rewriting before being sent off to editing. The last chapters are in the process of going from super-rough draft to something I can send over for editing. The hardest part of writing this story for me was the fact that I wrote it so quickly, a lot of major issues were missed or skimmed over. Especially the last 10 chapters. I may have to add a chapter or two to properly resolve the things that have to be addressed. I'm trying to figure it out now. The bones are there, I just gotta add the meat. Lol

Navigating their relationships is going to be like walking a tightrope with no safety net. Right now we have no idea what the twins have gone through and what they're thinking as far as having mates is concerned. They need to break through the communication barrier and figure it out so Ashton and Austin can get the help they need. Sebastian was spot on in having the foresight to bring in therapists. All four of them are going to need it.

You oughtta try keeping up with the notifications. Every time I refresh there's at least 20 more. Lol.
