Their time in Germany is limited. Two - three weeks at most. Not a long time to foster a relationship but Asa and Caleb and Corbin have already proven they can create a bond within a short amount of time. Whether or not it will be enough to make the three kids want to uproot themselves remains to be seen. They already have a connection with Pieter and see him as a father figure.

Parenting is a 24/7 job. They might not have a kid with them full time but they've been dealing with hybrid kids for months now. Practice skills handling hormonal teenagers.

Asa has a special kind of empathy. It might be part of his light shifter abilities and healing. I'm not really certain but it makes sense. the last time a shade shifter tried to get one over on MangyMutt, he….he, well, we know what happened. 🥺💔 You had to bring that up didn't you.... Skeeter bites... not too many people are impervious. I know I'm not. Little mutherfuc.. ers. Duncan is a special kid and they all know it. As far as losing anyone else... small spoiler
