    Chapter 9

I suppose we can all speak of a pen-pal at one point in our lives. Some are very special, you learn to love their honesty, and since writing for one is such an intimate and vulnerable thing, you get to witness a part of another person that is not always present in flesh. Us creatures are quite critical; when we don't know who we are viewing but connect with on an emotional level, great bonds usually are formed. My first ever "boyfriend" given this is the internet age, and I am a child of this eras contraption was via facebook. We spoke over a three, almost four year period and became close. The only hard bit was, he was over 18,000 km away, which was hard in itself when we fell in love; of course, however, we progressed to talking via skype and whatnot. Unfortunately, I never met him, I did love him dearly. We went out separate ways as ones do, but nothing bad became of it. Sad to know we don't talk anymore, but that is life. People come and people go.
  2. Love, Simon is a great addition to the LGBT film community. However, I believe there have been stronger portrayals in cinema which deal with the same issues. One of which, I have come across; only a short distance away from Ireland, in Iceland, the talent director Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson made a beautiful debut called Hjartasteinn (Heartstone.) The movie grips the viewer on so many other deep topics, including topics touched on in Love, Simon to some degree. It summed up brilliant character development in an imploding town. The trailer, however, does not do it justice. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4613254/

    Chapter 2

There are some bittersweet moments floating about the chapter. I was genuinely touched by the boys reaction of breakfast. I suppose, if he had been treated badly for god knows how long, the sudden overwhelming eruption of colour and merry glee is frighting to Chris. The overall premise of the current story reminds me of the book called, “a child called it,” by David Pelzer. Plus the other two remaining books which talk of the mans later life. The fact that Chris has made a friend in Carl is heartwarming, and understand that Carl has taken to his new friend quite quickly almost feels like the main character can finally breathe. On another note, perhaps with more gripping scene, switch from the telling progressive, to showing. Instead of telling the audience that the condensation fogged up the window. If it has any relevance to the story, show it. Use the five senses for reference. One thing I can imagine is that the boys could have began to shake when the bedrrom door was closed. When they slammed the door, did the hard clap richoct throughoutnthe walls of the house. Great work, I look forward to more
  4. When I originally started out on this project, I wanted to put emphasis on peer pressure. Not all pressure is negative of course, but there are certain rules which help make things more acceptable. Ther fact that we can be our own worst enemy also has a brief mention in the story as you mentioned. It is definitely a note to make. We should be allowed to do anything we please, except in proportion. Perhaps only in America, it is frowned upon to go naked. In Ireland, it would not be the most ideal or beloved nature, but it is up to there for the enthusiast who wishes to go naked in certain spots around the country. In many European counties seeing another naked is not that big of a deal, whereas in America people tend to be a little uptight because showing skin is seen more as a taboo. I suppose some of the negatives can equally turn to positives. However, in the story the boy could have equally that was with Sarah, to be genuine. Where Luke could have been a player. Plus, the fact that the character drank is also another benefiting factor that he knew he had made a mistake and decided to stop. Lastly making someone else decide on the behalf of them is never okay, even if you believe it is in their best interests. The protagonist also rushed into the situation concerning Sarah and the boy she had hooked up with. Just maybe it wasn't all that it appeared to be. After all, we were only seeing one side of the equation from one point of view.

I guess you can say that they are in a sense. Even though it was not my original intention, now when I look back I can see what you are talking about lol.

    Chapter 9

To Sherlock, Yes, you are awesome, thank you so much, I won't disappoint you, Mr. Holmes. I will be the best quote unquote secretary you have ever had since whenever your first book was composed. I wish to apologize and say that I agree that it is uncool that our company does not have a customer returns policy. Unfortunately, since I am not HQ, I will pass on your proposal, and I will pray that they will implement your devised plan and adapt our operating criteria to make it more beneficial

    Chapter 1

I must say you have something special here. Perhaps tidying up the usage of some continuous words to add a punch ratio to your sentences. For instance, you use a lot of the word "look." Don't be afraid to play around with words. For example the opening sentence, with a couple of adjustments. - "I woke up. The pillow was wet. The sheets soaked. The bed drenched through. I feel cold; clammy... no damp." Also, another thing I noticed is that you appear to be unsure who is supposed to be telling the story. If this is indeed your first, stick with first-person. Aka - Chris until you figure out who you want to go with. Alternatively, you can tell it from third person omniscient, like Stephen King - where he has insight into every person in the story; that is if you wish to talk about more than one character. If you starting out though, stick to the first-person point of view. All in all, I look forward to the next chapter. I found myself becoming invested in the characters and that is a good thing.
  8. Thanks for the comment, I realized that there were not many stories on the website revolving around the topic plainly, so I decided to give it a whirl. I am delighted that you enjoyed the piece. :)
  9. Thanks Bhopper, I am glad that you could relate with the character. Me too, I hope they had a great date :)

    Chapter 1

What a clever little plot-twister you crafted. I could see this being adapted into a full piece, except it serves well just as a single on its own. Vengence is the most dangerous thing after all
  11. It's Okay To Say No D.K. Daniels Bryce regularly throws sensational parties. Unlike countless others, it is my first time to be invited to one of his bashes. Considering I'm not a fool, I chose not to turn down the invite. Declining such a generous request would be interpreted similarly to social suicide in high school. For the first time tonight, I have been subjected to a new wild and supercool array of sounds, sights and people I have never known existed or acknowledge
  12. Often or not, at time us humans have a habit of walking ourselves into some tricky situations. Perhaps on occasion, we are comfortable with the choices we have made, others not so much. Join in for on this tale as a young Sophomore navigates his first ever high-school party. The pros and cons that are associated with such an event, and the plausibility of meeting other likeminded folks at the said event.

    Chapter 8

Yes, I wanted the two boys friendship to naturally occur over the course of the letters. I reckon that is most natural considering most people will introit little bits of information while trying to answer the previous discussion in the letter beforehand. Although my letters may be quite jampacked with discussion on the previous letter there is subtle hints about what is going on in the present and also contents that will relate to a future chapter in conclusion. I'm not sure what it's like in American schools with popularity, but with the actual presentation of who you are you can't exactly hide it. If you have a group of people floating around you: you are naturally conceived as being popular. Whereas, if you're a bit of a loner like your quiet then you considered a bit weird. I guess I was one of the quiet kids growing up but it wasn't always like that. I have experienced both sides of the equation; from being pretty popular, and also being myself. Naturally, I like being in a cocoon sort of deal I suppose that is where part of the character Sherlock came from. I know a lot of kid’s struggle being able to be true to yourself, and I believe this is something that every person has gone through at one point in time, especially the gay community. It's always the other way around when you're popular sometimes you just want a bigger space for yourself, well when you're lonely you want to aspire to be noticed. Initially, I wanted to showcase a little bit of that but not only that. As you have said the number of friends is not important, having one or two good true friends is a lot better than her crowd full of wasters. For me to do and honesty is a big thing but nothing compares to time. It is the only thing that we can expect to receive that is expendable and is not renewable. Truth and honesty can be repaired, time cannot.

    Chapter 8

I am glad that you are thinking long-term, that the solution may be that the story could be a reread to catch any missed hints along the way. I would like to note that this has actually been the case I have dropped subtle hints for both characters along the way, and I hope they are more evident by the time you reach the end of the story. If people choose to reread the story, hopefully, they will see what I was referring to when I wrote said hint when he reached the conclusion. Thank you typing out a comment and reading my newest chapter, I'm glad that you decided to stick around.

    Chapter 8

To Watson, Yes, you may take the occupation of a friend, and partner in crime since it appears to be the abundant show of interest. It saddens me to learn you have no such implementation; may I propose that your company adapts, as they say, the customer is perpetually right. I would not have paid for the parcel if I possessed knowledge of intentional manufacturer infringement, where the seller cuts corners for-profit and lower production costs. It is a mockery and insult that you don't suppl

    Little Hours

Thank you @Solarmaxx , I am glad that you were able to relate to the piece, even though through sad circumstances. The simplest emotions have more power than the complicated ones. I had this idea in my head for all but five minutes and decided to write it down, and finish it in all but 5 minutes. I found that not many authors on here, from what I have found so far have gone into great detail about death. For some reason, I have a tendency to stray for sad topics to write about, and they always seem to be the creations I am happiest with. To hear that I have made someone cry or them complimenting it for its depth is like falling in love all over again, letting your heart stray open anew. Every time I sit down to write and a little piece of myself changes unknown to myself because I have essentially become someone else.

    Little Hours

Thank you OzLoGo, I am sorry to hear about your friend. I suppose I am one of those people when another tells of a misfortune or sad point in there life I never now what to say. I reckon that is why I write, my mind is a noisy place. Although I have had an aunt pass on from cancer and all I recall from it, it was very peaceful. How the family came together and remained with her throughout the night, it is the feeling of time I wanted to get across. Understand the same experience is not the always the best knowledge in the world, but it is what is real that binds is and that is why I like to right of real people, with real problems. And yes you may share it
  18. Little hours, little hours, I find you beautifully appealing. I’d remind myself it's not by default, but due to design. I’ll abide with you, even though saddened and angered by the display of empathy on your behalf. You see it's just the sight of your tired, weary eyes, and sickly-looking face that I’m afraid of. The past months I have watched you grow frail, and I cannot come to accept a life without you. Is it selfish to want it to end, for you to pass? I won’t miss the changes you

    Chapter 7

I have never been one for coffee, tea is the common norm here in Ireland. There is nothing quite like a nice cup when you playing a couple of strings on the guitar or piano or writing the next chapter of a story by a dim light lamp in the evening. Yes, there may be some miscommunication with boys, although I find there is that little inner critic to most of us when we are exploring new things, and even though we don't want it to show sometimes it slips out on things you don't usually have gotten used to. I reckon time will tell whether Sherlock has a thing against Jocks or come to find that it has been all in Watson's head. I hope you enjoy the remainder of the series. I can only afford to release the entries once a week on gay authors as I am writing multiple others that require more attention at the moment.

    Chapter 7

To Sherlock, Okay, okay, okay… You may call me Watson. It looks to be a topic of discussion for every single one of our conversations as so far. Plus, it makes essential sense that you have a Watson considering your Sherlock. Can I possibly be the next best candidate? So, you tell me where and when I sign up for this test or whatever you call it. I'll be ready for it. And it is good to know that you got my package without it having further repercussions. I am sorry that no user guidebo

Thank you for your comment, I am glad that you can see the boy's individualism is shining through, I wish to make them complete opposites. I hope you continue to enjoy the series or any of the other works I have provided here or my website.

    Chapter 6

To Mr. James Bond or Glorified Secretary, I am writing to authenticate the unique package of God's almighty power you have sent has been received. PS. Could you post an instruction handbook because one did not arrive with the cargo, furthermore considering I'm all about saving the planet and recycling, I don't want to have to wire back the delivery in order to get a manual, only for you to ship it back to me? There exists some commonality as to what you have said; I too believe sle
  23. The Park Free-Verse-Flash-Fiction By D.K. Daniels A walk in the park never seemed like such a marvelous idea. Looping the curvature of the volumes path; From yonder by the rebab climbing frame, A boy roughly eight hung dangling from his feet. The blond mess draped like a singular ivory vine, only, plus that and a gazillion tendrils of cascading hair. In other words, the child could not make out whether he was neither upside down or upright. Al
  24. Thanks, @OzLoGo Its okay, we all get busy I have just gotten back from my vacation. I have been on the road for a full two weeks roughing it and hiking, and whatnot. I love summer, as well as Halloween, they are my two busiest times of the year. I wrote this while I was on vacation, I knew I didn't have the time or attentiveness to sit for long periods while on the go, so I decided to write something small because I needed to write something, and this was it. I try to pack as much detail into my pieces as much as possible, sometimes there feels like there is not enough detail, so I find myself holding back sometimes as to not more people with the level of detail my mind picks up on. I suppose my mind is messy like that, I can't stick to one image, so I suppose, it is quite possible if you were to plaster the walls of my room with the content I have written some simulations might shine through. Thank you for the kind words, and that you consider my writing an escape world to run away to. Currently, I have just finished a novelette called You, Me & Them, which is available on Patreon and it will be coming soon on Amazon. The story revolves around two boys on the 4th of July, it stands at just over 25 k words, I will be then focusing on fishing my short Before The Storm, then going back to You and I, as I complete a project I began last year. Ah... so many ideas and not enough time or mental power to write them all at once.
  25. The Other Side Free Verse- Flash-Fiction By D.K. Daniels “Are you there,” the boy whispered meekly to the transistor. No response, it had frequently denoted a presence all day in fact. Though of course, when the lonely youngster assumed he’d found someone, needed someone to talk to, nobody was there. A filth of grime and mire latched to the boys being, what with a mud clad face, tired blue eyes, and filthy brittle blond hair. Black oily bags sat beneat
