Oh I getcha I suppose had I set the epilogue in any of the other three weeks of their adult lives, it would have been a happily ever after! I suppose I wanted to show everyone how happy the boys are in spite of the hiccups along the way. Charlie did well! He's in his mid-twenties and now beginning to dip his toe in the pool of "adult life!" You are so, SO welcome! Thank you for being a part of the story for so long! ❤️ I felt it was necessary to end on a note mixed with tragedy and hope as much as joy and love. That was what the story was all about. Of course I had to bring Charlie back! He was introduced to be little more than a plot device but I grew so fond of him! Maybe I'll make you cry next time! ❤️ Thank you ever so much!! Tyson's entitled attitude and sharp tongue never did leave him, but he is incredibly sweet and tender with those he loves! Tyson being all bark and no bite is a great way to describe him! In my mind, this is still a (slightly offkey) happily ever after! They've had a terrific time together and I (lowkey) would love to explore their lives post-hospital in more detail! Those poor boys have had a really horrible week 😔 what else could go wrong for them? Fleeing a scorwaspent (trademarked) and running into Chief Doucheface. zzzz. Ercil is in a pretty horrid place, too! Imagine knowing that everyone you know and love is destined to die and being completely powerless to stop it. Cassandra's unique love for Xaviel is precious & I think it deserves a mention! Awesome chapter.

One thing I love so much about this story is that there is no one villain! Kotho, Xaviel, Macarius and Vaunga have all been the absolute worst person in the world. It's like "spin the bottle" fo jackasses 😂 Letha's death hit me pretty hard after she stood up for her baby boy, I was rooting for her to live and guide Ercil & the Mataki to a better way. Xaviel's response to seeing the entirety of the Mataki tribe at his doorstep makes me laugh. More or less tells them to f**k themselves 😏 and with good reason - Kotho talks a lot of crap for a dead guy! ❤️ The action in this chapter was so intense and chaotic and I LOVED it! Major thumbs up! ❤️

Oof the Vaunga scene drives me NUTS!! That is one twisted woman, I swear! She lost her family, so her way of avenging them is to make everyone in the tribe suffer the same misery she did! I'm so glad everyone participated in making her pay! Macarius' choice to simply let Xaviel leave was so, SO heartbreaking. The boy was everything and now Macarius is so empty inside that he doesn't care what he does now. Beautifully written ❤️ simply flawless. Love it a million percent, & thank you for writing it up! ❤️

Heh Nicky & Lola are both products of their environment - lazy & unmotivated parents & antisocial peers. Nicky thinks Lance brings his misfortunes on himself & "encourages" him to change for his own safety. Lola's just a spiteful little cow. Haha yes, our boy is still just a kid in many ways, immature and impulsive. A few chapters back (CH3?) Lance skips most of his evening meal and explains that he wants more vegetables and gets ridiculed for it. A running theme is that his parents tend not to listen to him - they mistake his successes as assurance that he's doing just fine. Thank you very much! Bobby's probably not being as patient as he should be, but he's trying his best! The most amazing part of this chapter is that Sawyer managed not to screw up his spell! (The second time!) I also love that someone, in a time of crisis, recommended not splitting up. (Not that Dymia listens!) It really was an intense action sequence! 😮 Xaviel is legitimately far more terrifying than his father ever was. The Mataki think they're going to walk into an old sorcerer's territory & rob the place. Won't they be surprised? The Macarius twist is interesting!
