The simple recipes are often the best type. So many recipes these days have a list as long as my arm of weird sounding ingredients. Many of which, when all added together, have probably enough miles on their journey from source to shop to have travelled to the moon and back. As far as possible I try to cook with locally produced food. And now I have a garden again, as far as possible I try to use as much of my own grown as possible.

True. And I even managed to shop for a few essentials that the village shop doesn't stock.

So I park outside the dentist's office and ring them on my mobile to let them know I have arrived. "Can you hold the line for a moment, please?" asks the receptionist. "No problems," I reply. About two minutes later the receptionist comes back on the line... "Your appointment is actually scheduled for tomorrow." I check the appointment card in my wallet and realise she's totally correct.

Good morning, all! About to head off for a visit with the dental hygienist. Twenty minutes of torture, but I missed the last scheduled visit in the spring, due to the lockdown. I thought the visit a few weeks ago was for that, but it turned out the dentist himself wanted to do a full check up.

Oh! Nearly forgot... I also baked an apple pie this evening.

Sounds delish. I had another portion of the beef stew I made the other night. This time I made some dumplings that I dropped in as it simmered for 20 minutes (as I had some beef suet that was left over from when I made christmas puddings 5 or 6 weeks ago).
