  1. That's always good to hear!
  2. Not too bad, thanks for asking. And you and Steve?
  3. Greeting, young Albert!
  4. Happy Saturday, all! Strange day here. Brilliant sunshine at times, which can give way to heavy rain with hardly a moment's notice, and even the occasional shower of hail. And there's a cold wind blowing at times. Around 6°C/43°F - feeling a good bit warmer when the sun shines, but bitterly cold when the wind is blowing. I may wrap up well and try to remove a few more of the roots of bushes and small trees that I didn't get round to last year. But, if I do, I reckon I'll be chased into the house by the wind and rain at times.
  5. You have personal knowledge of that fact?
  6. Belated greetings, young fellow!
  7. You're too kind, clo. (Wonder what she wants? ) But what I was especially happy about was the fact that I was still physically capable of doing all that work at my advanced age. I have to admit that when I first started into it, I wasn't sure if I'd actually manage to get it done.
  8. Here's two images showing the first bit of work I did on reclaiming the garden. Both taken in the upper garden about 3 weeks apart - from late March to mid April 2020, during Ireland's first Covid-19 lockdown. From this: To this:
  9. I'm actually thinking of maybe getting a photobook printed showing the progress. It's almost twelve months now since I started trying to tame the wilderness that the gardens had become after something like ten years of neglect. If I do get the book printed, I might decide use the original colour photographs.
  10. Here's my week 50 of 52 monochrome images offering: Another one of the lower garden, after gathering up and burning all the ivy and Russian vine I had cut that had completely overtaken the stone sheds on the left, and all the branches I cut away when tidying the boundary hedge in the upper garden.

    Pandemic

More than I have, and I'm twenty-plus years older than you. Every time I check the online vaccine date calculator, it seems to put the date I can expect my first dose further back. Just at the moment it's suggesting I could expect to get my first dose by 30 April. It almost makes me wonder if I would have been better to have stayed in England instead of moving to Ireland 35 years ago...

Thanks, Parker! Getting it right doesn't necessarily make it all that easier to accept what's happening, though....

    Pandemic

Cheers, Gary! I was just expressing how I feel at the moment. Today actually marks the first anniversary of the initial lockdown here in Ireland. And since just before the New Year we have been in almost total lockdown.
  14. And you, bro!
  15. Certainly did, thanks! Heading out shortly for a few hours. Few repairs on the car before it goes in for its retest on Monday.
  16. Nearly 1:00am here, so I'm away to my bed. I've just added a haiku with the title "Pandemic" to my collection: https://gayauthors.org/story/marty/martys-haiku/12

    Pandemic

Socially distanced because of covid-19... Praying for vaccine.
  18. Mine will from now on. Actually, I'm surprised there were no daffodils in the garden when I bought this house. Several people around the village have told me just how proud of her garden was the old woman who lived in it all her life.
  19. Greetings, young Albert!
  20. In spite of the fact that it was very late (just before Christmas) that I planted my daffodil bulbs, twenty of the twenty-one clumps that I planted have shoots well above ground, and it looks like most of them will be opening their buds in the next week or so. I'm fairly hopeful the final clump will eventually send up shoots.
  21. And you, bro! Nice enough day here, as well. Which wasn't what was actually forecast. About 6°C/43°F and dry for much of the afternoon. I've managed to get some work done in the garden; mainly clearing old root stumps that I didn't get round to removing last year.
  22. Probably the tailor bird https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_tailorbird
