    Chapter 2

Thank you! This is the first story I ever posted online, and it shows in the early chapters, but I'm still very happy with the overall story
  2. Congratulations, Sharon! Sharon's been an editing fixture here at GA for as long as I can remember. She deserves a massive amount of applause and thanks from a lot of people, including myself.
  3. LOL -- there are so many short stories (and a couple of novels) where I've been asked for a sequel. There's one short story in particular that I've given serious thought to expanding it to a novel, but I couldn't come up with a strong enough plot to make it worthwhile. I'll see what I can do, but at the moment I'm working on something else and I learnt years ago that I can't work on more than one thing at a time.

    Chapter 5

Thank you! I like my stories to be driven largely by character interactions, so getting the dialogue and actions right is very important to me. I really appreciate that you think they come over as smooth and natural.

    Chapter 5

    Relationships can certainly be complicated....
  6. Claire was upset and Sue was trying to comfort her. I watched for a few seconds and had the impression that Claire was mainly angry at Phil. I didn’t blame her; he had said some very hurtful things. I decided to let Sue look after Claire, and I turned back to Joe. “Will you excuse me for a sec? I just want to go talk to Brandon.” “Sure, but would you like me to come with you, just in case?” “Nah, I’ll be fine.” I thought I would be, but if I was wrong, it wouldn’t be as if I didn’t deserve it.

    Brotherhood

The most interesting thing for me was Josh and Jacob's completely different interpretation of Philip's actions. Which one is correct? Way too early to say. Josh has a history that colours his views, but Jacob also doesn't have the history to interpret Philip's words. Is Conrad homophobic, or just concerned that his brother may be bullied over a perception? I'm not going to jump to conclusions at this point in time. I'll wait to see what happens at home between Conrad and Jacob. Overall, both main characters have really come alive. Jacob is a confident and loyal friend. Josh, as Jacob realised, is emotionally starved and vulnerable. How they continue to interact and grow up is going to be fascinating
  8. CJ is a great author and someone I'm proud to call a friend. He's an extremely talented author with well-plotted stories involving very believable characters.

    Chapter 4

When someone in a relationship lies about their sexual orientation, I think I can guarantee that someone will get hurt. It may not be the intention, but that doesn't stop the pain.

    Chapter 3

Thank you! They're all a good bunch of people. It's just a pity that Rick feels he has to hide his sexual orientation from them.

    Chapter 2

Er... they're already together, and about to have their first kiss. What's the problem?

    Chapter 1

Thank you! All I'll say about where the tale goes is that it stays in Australia. I hope that's not too much of a spoiler.

    Chapter 4

In Rick's defence, there were two vulnerable people at the start -- himself and Drew. Drew jumped to conclusions, and his friends rallied around, pressuring Rick to do something. Rick wasn't brave enough to be honest.... How many gay guys have found them selves in the same situation? That doesn't make them a bad person.

    Chapter 2

True, but when you're scared, sometimes you keep digging deeper....
  15. Graeme

    Chapter 1

Thank you! It took me awhile to come up with a reasonable excuse for a straight guy to pretend to be gay, but I think this one works

    Chapter 3

Rick doesn't see that he has much of a choice. It's never nice to be in a position to be forced to do something you don't want to.

    Chapter 3

Sorry -- the story is complete, but it hasn't completed posting yet. It will be complete in a couple of weeks -- I'll fix that
  18. “I’M HOME!” I yelled as I entered the front door. “AND I’M NOT DEAF!” Mum yelled back. I grinned at Brandon’s apparent surprise. “Thanks, Brandon. Thanks for everything. I really mean that.” He cocked his head to one side. “You’re not going to invite me in?” “Of course! Come on in, if you want. I just didn’t think you would want to.” His smile confused me. I thought we had settled on a relationship in which he would keep a cautious eye on me, while maintaining a distance. “We’ve still got

    Chapter 2

We all know of gay guys who have had to pretend to be straight, hurting people in the process. I decided to see if I could write a story about the opposite -- someone pretending to be gay for what they consider to be good reasons.

    Chapter 3

Someone is going to get hurt. Lies, even lies by omission, or lying to oneself, often have that effect. The only real questions are who and how much.

    Epilogue

Thank you! This was my first novel and it shows, especially in the first chapters. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, but I've never been able to come up with a solid idea for a sequel, which is why I haven't written on. If inspiration strikes, though, I'd certainly consider it.

    Chapter 21

It's not that uncommon a reaction. After all, from their perspective their child has 'changed'. They want to point the finger at someone.
  23. I knew that would happen, but still, I was unprepared. I had never kissed anyone, not properly, and my first time was going to be with a guy. I swallowed once and then closed my eyes. Drew touched his lips to mine, lightly at first, but then with some pressure. I knew that meant he was being passionate. I tried to respond in kind, but I found myself distracted by the scratching from the slight stubble on his chin. Instead of considering the merits of kissing, I was wondering if I would get a ra

    Chapter 16

There are still a few dramas to go

    Chapter 8

Thank you. That was actually the first scene that I ever wrote. I wanted to see if I could put into words the scene I had in my mind. I was happy enough with the result that I wrote the rest of the story By the way, there's one spin off from New Brother, and that's Craig's story. You can find it here at GA under the name Street Life: http://www.gayauthors.org/story/graeme/streetlife
