[Rob Skitter] I take back every single bad thought I’ve ever had about Greg. If he were a girl, I’d kiss him. I get to ski powder, and Diane gets to thank me for teaching her brother. Nothing could be more perfect! Greg is definitely back in the books as a great guy. Yesterday must have just been shock. He’s certainly doing a fantastic job today. [Paul Wilson] Powder snow! I could hardly believe it when Rob rushed in and told us. We were lucky that we had already finished our shower, or Rob would have got an eye-full. Chris and I were just trying to decide if we really wanted to get dressed and go outside or stay undressed and inside for a bit longer. However, thoughts of a slow start to the day quickly disappeared as soon as we learnt the news. I haven’t skied in powder for a couple of years. Back then I was just a beginner and wasn’

[Diane Rider] Rob is like a little boy when he’s out on the slopes. He’s so eager and excited about everything! He’s told me about powder snow and it would be great to find out what puts that expression of absolute bliss on his face. When he tells he about the times he’s skied it, he goes all dreamy. It’s so cute! However, it can wait for another day. Leaving Greg behind just isn’t an option. I still need to make up for the stuff-up I made of the sleeping arrangements. Greg probably doesn’t t

[Rob Skitter] Despite my daydreams, I really wouldn’t want Greg to break a leg on the way to the ski slopes. I had a friend once that I took skiing. It was his first time, too. Somehow he managed to break his ankle the first time he fell over in his skis. Being a beginner, that was about three yards after he started. He was really good about it, but I felt so guilty. He’d just hired his gear and bought a lift ticket and then spent the rest of the day inside the medical centre. Breaking a leg

[Rob Skitter] Now there’s an idea! We take the Eagle chairlift on the way to Cloud Nine, and somehow Greg slips off and breaks a few bones. Nah… that won’t work. Diane would insist on going with him to the medical centre. Oh, well. The dream was fun while it lasted. Please use the BACK button to return to the main story.

[Rob Skitter] Well, the trip up was a fucked-up mess because of Diane’s little brother. Hopefully, today will be better. I managed to get some quality time with Di last night before we went to sleep. I don’t think the others heard us, but it wouldn’t bother me if they did. We’re just two people in love and showing it the best way possible. After the mind games Greg played just before we went to bed, I actually hope he heard us so he knows what he’s missing out on. Being single sucks! I wish t

[Diane Rider] Now let’s see what we can plan for Greg’s first day! Since I no longer have to worry about him being gay, we can just concentrate on making sure he has a good time. I can tell that Rob doesn’t really want to teach him, but I know he’ll do it anyway. I’ll have to make it up to Rob sometime. Maybe I can organise a dinner for just the two of us tonight? I’ve heard the Astra is really nice. Damn! That would leave Greg with Chris and Paul. It might be okay, or we might come back to

[Diane Rider] My little brother has never been a morning person. He’ll be more alive after something to eat and drink. I’m glad he came up with a solution to the sleeping arrangements last night. It’s probably saved the whole weekend. Rob was in such a good mood when we retired that it took us quite some time before we drifted off to sleep. Everyone seems to be happy. I was a bit surprised to find the furniture re-arranged when I came out, but it made sense. A mattress on the floor has to be b

[Chris Everington] Greg didn’t mean to do it, but Paul’s suffering a flashback to the attack. I don’t know why, as this hasn’t happened for over three months now. If anyone is to blame, it’s those bastards who did this to my boyfriend. It’s well over a year since the attack, but Paul is still suffering. When I first chased him, he kept pushing me away. I didn’t realise it at the time, but he had become afraid of any human contact. It was only after he had a flashback during the first month we s

[Paul Wilson] Fuck! How can I fix this? I was half asleep when I reached out. I didn’t realise it was Greg and not Chris. He knows it wasn’t deliberate, but he’s still freaking. I’m beginning to think I may have been right before. I think someone did something to him. He’s trying to overcome it but he may need help. But how can I help him if he goes crazy if I’m near him? I know what it’s like to suffer from an irrational fear. It’s been over a year since I was attacked and it still hits me

[Chris Everington] Ah, the joys of the first time at the snow! Looking at Greg staring out the window brings back fond memories of the time I learnt to ski. Greg looks like being one of the good guys. Considering how cool his sister is, that’s not really surprising but I’ve been caught before by how unreasonable some people can be. He’s trying to cope, and Paul and I have to try to make it as easy for him as possible. When I found out that Diane hadn’t said anything to him, it was one of the

[Chris Everington] Something happened in Euroa between Greg and his sister. I could tell that Paul was as puzzled as I was, but Diane wouldn’t talk about it. I overheard her tell Rob that it wasn’t Greg’s fault, but that just made it stranger. If it wasn’t his fault then it must be Diane’s. Why won’t she say what it is? Greg seemed to retreat into a shell when we got back into the car. It was if he was withdrawing from the world into his own little space. I could see Paul giving him worried gl

[Rob Skitter] Diane won’t tell me what happened between her and Greg in Euroa. She just says it’s not his fault and she’ll tell me later. Whatever it was, it must have been pretty stormy. Greg’s face was the coldest I’d ever seen, and Diane was close to tears. After I let Greg into the car, she just clung to me and shook with emotion. All she would say is to tell me to not blame her brother. It was probably best that Greg fell asleep soon after. It was a bit of a surprise, as it wasn’t late, b
-
[Diane Rider] Shit, shit, shit! I had forgotten about that. I think I was so sure he was gay that I didn’t think about what the sleeping arrangements would look like for a straight boy. How am I going to tell him that he’s going to be sharing a room with Chris and Paul? Think, girl, think! I’ve made such a complete balls-up of this that I don’t know what to do. Looking back through the window, I try willing Rob to come out here and help me. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work in real-life. He’s

[Rob Skitter] Greg seems to be making an effort to get to know Chris and Paul better. As long as he’s in the front seat by himself, he almost seems relaxed. Maybe he’s not homophobic after all. Now I just need to work out how to dump him once it’s time to start skiing. When I whispered the suggestion of just telling him to join the Ski School for lessons, Diane vetoed it immediately. It seems she doesn’t want to feel that she’s abandoning Greg, since she’s the one who’d invited him in the firs

[Paul Wilson] Greg didn’t appear to realise I could see his reflection in the mirror above the sink. It was obvious he was shocked to see me striping off. It’s not something I make a habit of doing in public (especially in a toilet block), but there was no way I was going to sit in that car for the whole trip, still covered with the sweat and sawdust from a day’s work. I needed to get out of those clothes, wipe myself down with a damp towel, and get changed into something clean. It’s funny. On

[Diane Rider] Well, we seemed to have weathered that storm. While I would still love him if he was gay, I’m glad that Greg’s not. Chris has told us some really scary stories at work of things that have happened to him, just because he’s gay. I wouldn’t want Greg to have to go through similar things. I wonder, though, what those computer files were all about. Why was Greg checking up on those things? It had to be Greg, as there really wasn’t anyone else who it could be. Maybe he found out that
-
[Paul Wilson] I’ve met my fair share of gay-haters in my time, and Greg strikes me as one of those who hates out of ignorance and fear. He probably thinks Chris and I are going to jump him the first chance we get. I can’t let him go without trying to give him a chance to come around. If he sees us behaving like any other two guys, or any other couple, then maybe he’ll get over his hatred and fear. It’s the perfect opportunity to try. He doesn’t have anyone who’ll be on his side, but he still h

[Rob Skitter] If the offer to drop out of the weekend was because he didn’t want to be a fifth wheel, then I’d admire him for it. But when it’s because he’s so obviously homophobic that he doesn’t want to be near my friends, who just happen to be gay, then I’m all for pushing him out the door without stopping. It’s strange. The times we’ve met before, he’s always been so cool, so happy to see Diane and me and really supportive. He’s even given me a few tips on what Diane would like as a presen
-
[Paul Wilson] Greg’s not the first person I’ve met that can’t stand being near a gay guy, and he won’t be the last. I can hope he’ll get over it, but it doesn’t look good for having a fun weekend. It would be nice to live in a world where this sort of thing didn’t happen, a world where people tolerated differences. Unfortunately, that’s not the real world. All I can do is to hope that Greg is just reacting from the surprise. Once he’s had a chance to think things over, maybe he’ll come around.
-
[Rob Skitter] Fantastic! Greg’s freaked even more than I could have expected – so bad, it’s not even funny. Not only does he look like ruining my weekend by not allowing me any quality personal time with Diane, but now he looks like wrecking Chris and Paul’s weekend by being homophobic! Di’s doing the protective big sister act and I have to go along with it. I don’t really want to, as I’ve seen Chris suffer too many times from the small-minded attitudes of homophobic idiots, but this is her li

[Diane Rider] Shit! Rob let the news out too early! I love the guy to bits, but this was not what I wanted to happen. Now Greg is freaking out. A typical male, he’s trying to hide it but I can tell he’s absolutely terrified. Okay, calm down. Take a deep breath. What can I do to fix this? I know – I’ll swap seats with him. That way he’s not stuck between them and he’ll have a chance to calm down. One thing, though. After that reaction, it’s pretty definite he’s not gay. Please use the BACK

[Rob Skitter] Perfect! I knew Paul and Chris would start their normal bickering before too long. Now to let Diane’s kid brother know that they’re gay, and I can settle back and watch him freak out! If he doesn’t freak out, I’ll have to hand it to him – He’s a better man than me. I freaked out when Chris told me, but I recovered quickly. The fact that I had known him for over a year beforehand had helped considerably. I was really pleased when he finally hooked up with Paul. Chris deserves som

[Diane Rider] That seems to be going well. After he’s gotten to know Paul and Chris better, I’ll let him know they’re gay, probably just after we get something to eat for dinner. He’ll get angry with me for keeping it a secret, but I know my brother pretty well. Once he’s had been with them for a while, he won’t turn his back on them. They’re both great guys and that will shine through. Please use the BACK button to return to the main story.

[Paul Wilson] So this is Diane’s younger brother, Greg. A nice enough guy, at least at first glance. Certainly easy on the eye. Of course, that’s not necessarily a good thing. A lot of people would disagree, but being good looking is not always enjoyable. I know I’m attractive – enough guys, and girls, have told me that – but I’ve had problems because of it. The most common one is that I get lots of people hitting on me. Unfortunately, it usually turns out that all they can see is the outside
