While I agree with you, finding help for a postaholic goat in denial is not something easy to find. I wouldn't be surprised if he's unique in that respect, and so finding someone who can help him may be impossible. I prefer the humouring approach, such as I used when I called him my favourite lurker, while gently trying to encourage him to see the truth.... I'm not adverse to other techniques, but I like the goat and I wouldn't want him to be inadvertantly hurt. As someone who is a stickler for accuracy, you will have to take back that vile accusation. I made no such comment and anyone who checks will see that I made no such comment.

How about a nice simple definition? Anyone who has three or more posts a day. That would mean anyone with eight, or even nine, posts a day would qualify.

For someone with four posts declaring themselves a postaholic, then... well... maybe C James really is a lurker :wacko: Then again, maybe not To use a definition that is less likely to be misinterpreted, how about just nominating everyone with an average posts per day of four OR MORE and who has been a member for a minimum of 30 days? Anyone who became a member in Februrary, 2006 who has in excess of 2000 posts would therefore qualify. Oh, and by that definition, yes, I'm a postaholic, but I refuse to join a postaholic anonymous organisation, as that would imply being a postaholic is somehow bad....

Honestly, I don't consider it much of cliffhanger. Something is about to happen, but it could range from pleasant to unpleasant, from serious to trivial. There's not enough there to built up much tension. Now if you'd added something like: Then THAT would be a cliffhanger.

I'm in shock There is actually someone in England who doesn't know what the Ashes are?!? The Ashes is the trophy awarded to the winner of the England/Australia annual test match series. After a long winning streak by Australia, England reclaimed the Ashes last year. The latest series is currently going on in Australia. We won the first match, and the second test match in Adelaide is headed towards a draw. There are five test matches in total. England just needs to draw the series to hold onto the Ashes. The actual trophy is usually kept by the MCC, regardless of who wins, because it's so old and valuable. The name comes from this mock obituary from the Sporting Times: "In affectionate remembrance of English cricket which died at The Oval, 29th August, 1882. Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing friends and acquaintances, RIP. NB The body will be cremated and the Ashes taken to Australia." The following link gives a bit more of the history. In C James's defense (as a self-identified lurker, he's bound by the lurking rules not to respond, though his suppressed postaholic nature will probably make him respond anyway), I don't believe it's transmitted by goats. It's just part of their nature. They are gregarious animals and like to chat. Anyone who's seen old B-grade movies will know that pirates love to talk, too, which explains Kevin. It wasn't my fault. Work sent me interstate for a week, and I couldn't access GA while working, and I had to endure an extremely slow dialup from the hotel. Happily, I'm back at home now

Kevin's posts may normally constitute about 80% of GA forum traffic, but most of that will be people READING them. Kevin's actual posting rate is way below the top few people. As an example, if you look at this thread, and count the number of posts for each person, you'll find that while there are several people with multiple posts, Kevin is not one of them. I think the real reason is that C James is too much of a lurker. He needs to double or triple his posting rate so people will notice that he's here....

I'm sure our resident goats wouldn't mind a bit of body art, if it was done tastefully. I'll leave it up to them to make a comment regarding the magazines....

There are always quiet times. I've only had limited internet access this week myself, and then I'll be gearing myself up for a mad rush of Christmas shopping. Don't worry about it too much.

Firefox 1.0.6 at home, Firefox 2.0 on my work laptop, and IE 6 on both. I also occasionally use Mozilla on Unix, but not often.

There's one more thing that struck me last night but I wasn't in a fit state to post. I was first surprised that Eric had the recorder on him, but then I realised that since he had successfully blackmailed Chris with it, it might be useful for doing the same to others (especially at school). So, having it on him made sense. HOWEVER, if that's the case, then he would've been using it a fair amount over the five+ weeks since that first recording. That means that the tape in the record is unlikely to have the blackmail conversation with Chris. I noticed that the recording wasn't played! I'm not sure what he can do about it, but it's possible that Eric still has that recording hidden somewhere. Just idle speculation, and if a certain goat tries to comment about it, then.... well, he knows my opinion about spoilers :mace: (closest thing to evil spines I could find).
