    Chapter 35

Thank you! I'll admit I was really happy when the idea came to me to use the Ken/Jim story to help Neil. It just seemed to fit.

    Chapter 35

Neil only worked at the sports store during the two week school break between terms 1 and 2. He wanted to work there full time, but Mr. O'Grady made him promise to try to finish Year 12 (the last year of secondary school). As for Liam telling Neil, Neil's not talking to him. Given Neil's reaction to Clarissa telling him that she's bring Alf to the party, do you really think Neil will tell Liam's parents that he wants him there?

    Chapter 35

Thanks, Maarten! While Neil now has a lot of new friends, his gay friends are severely limited in number. Getting that 'gay' perspective on how he's feeling from Sam was something he couldn't get from almost everyone else. Similarly for Tony's perspective on Neil's other issues Again, Tony had a unique perspective.

    Chapter 35

“Friday, and just over a week until your party.” Clarissa smiled at Neil as they strolled towards the train station. School had finished, and Neil was heading to his house. “Looking forward to it?” Neil grinned. “Am I ever! Todd said they’ve organised a spit roast, and Ty’s told me that they’re hiring a DJ, and they’re going to clear a space in the Leopards club room for dancing.” He chuckled. “I think that’s because Karen’s going to be there, though. I’d love to dance, but I don’t expect there

    April Fool

And I thought this post was going to be about how the Cern researchers confirm the existence of The Force.

  8. I get the impression that something may happen at the start of the next chapter... The boys parents are a contrast. Ben's are accepting, but his mother is stricter. Blake's mother seems more forgiving, but his father...

    Chapter 34

Thank you! It looks like Liam has a chance, but he's still got some major hurdles to overcome, too.

    Chapter 34

Thank you! Sometimes leaps and bounds happen, but most of the time it's little increments that add up over time.

    Chapter 34

I love Clarissa, so don't you dare say anything bad about her!

    Chapter 34

“Thanks for this,” Sam said as he shook first Matt’s and then Gary’s hand. “You certainly didn’t need to hire someone to pick me up from the airport.” Gary smiled. “It was our pleasure. We told you that we’re here to help, and that’s what we’re doing.” Matt glanced at the clock. “I expect you’re tired after your flight, so why don’t you turn in and we’ll talk some more at breakfast. Since the Leopards game tomorrow is in Richmond, we’ll take you with us when we go.” Gary chuckled. “Matt’s rea
  13. The emotions that Blake felt as he prepared to tell him parents were so heartfelt. It really built the tension. One thing I noticed is that while Ben hasn't said a lot about his own coming out, his comment at the end when Blake asked to go to Ben's bedroom indicated that even he didn't have things go smoothly. Obviously better than Blake, but I suspect there's still some issues the boys will have to deal with there. You mentioned earlier that this was your favourite chapter (so far). I can see why! Very well done
  14. I'm not sure Blake will need to tell his mother: She takes a deep breath, raises her eyebrows and takes a deep breath. "Alright! I'll let you boys get back to business." I think she already knows

    Chapter 33

Thank you! The pace of the story has been a big concern of mine. I keep feeling that I'm dragging things out too much, but when I go back and review what's been written, I can't see much that could be dropped without having a significant impact on the story in some way.
  16. I spotted something interesting in this chapter: Gavin and Blake didn't appear to have had a sexual relationship. It makes me curious as to what sort of relationship they had, and why it went bad. Also, how long did that relationship last....
  17. I can't help notice that neither has told the other that they're still in the closet. Hopefully, they'll do that before they get home (which, by the way, I wouldn't be surprised if it's at the end of an hour or two's driving....). Chris is good value. I hope he continues to make a lot of appearances in this story.
  18. The interaction between the two was really cute. I still can't work out if it was better seeing both sides of the story, or if that ruined it a bit because there was no real suspense -- it was just a case of when. Either way, though, it was a very enjoyable read
  19. On the crossword puzzle, I noticed a lot of the stories involved were from anthologies. You could easily do another crossword puzzle or word finder based purely on the anthologies

    Chapter 33

I'll admit that even I am not quite sure what to make of Doug. He's an obnoxious bully with a mean streak. He's also a very loyal friend to Liam. He has redeeming features...but most people don't see them.

    Chapter 33

Thank you! Neil's parents aren't all bad. They are certainly not your ideal parents, but then most of us don't have those (nor can I say that I'm an ideal parent for my boys -- I just hope my mistakes are never as bad as theirs)

    Chapter 33

Karen's someone special. Ty was really lucky to meet her As for Liam, what he's going through is probably only a fraction of what he's put Neil through over the preceding years. Sad, but true....

    Chapter 33

Neil's parents are not your stereotypical homophobic parents. They're human, with human failings and emotions. So is their son....

    Chapter 33

Thank you! Liam didn't sent the email to Todd because it was personal between him and Neil. We didn't get to see the content, but given it's several pages, I suspect it's not something that should be shared with others.

    Chapter 33

Ty grinned at his younger friend. “Come on, mate. We’re taking you out for at least part of the day. We’ve got some shopping to do, and I need your help. Todd won’t be back until late this afternoon, so I don’t see that you’ve got much in the way of excuses.” Neil glanced at Karen. “Wouldn’t you two prefer to spend the day by yourselves?” Ty draped an arm across Karen’s shoulders. “We’re planning a quiet night, and you’re definitely not invited for that, but there’s no reason we shouldn’t get
