Marlene, where do I begin? First, the audacity of someone coming into a home wanting something when it's already been given to someone else, is disgusting. Second, I'm pretty sure I would've escorted her to the door a lot faster, not inviting her to dinner, than she was ... maybe with a boot in the ass! She definitely failed etiquette 101.
Trying to wrap my mind around the hesitation of his grandfather freeing his slaves. I guess there a co-dependence both ways and the risk of losing that dependence. His grandfather is a smart man and observes well, I'm sure he will weigh the outcomes Lucinius has had to his own situation. The "adoption" of the young child broke my heart. It's ashamed that men like Lucinius care more for some than their actual fathers. 😒
This isn't a Villa, it's a VillaFarm! LOL!!! WOW, all the guys have done well in working together to make their home very prosperous and sufficient. I can foresee the other vendors getting angry with Lucinius and the boys very soon. They keep bringing in higher quality products, representing the accurately, and selling them for reasonable prices instead of misrepresenting and robbing.
The baker must be delighted at the wonderful 3rd press olive oil. Can one imagine the old rancid oil that may have been sold to him compared to this new aromatic fresh oil which Lucinius is offering. It's the old adage, treat others as you would be treated and your life will be bountiful.
Lucinius is much more the diplomat than I. Had someone disrespected those that lived in my home, I would've promptly asked them to apologize for their actions or leave ... or both!!!
The plot thickens! LOL!!! This may be a fig or some other yumminess that the region is known for. Today, we take the variety of the grocery for granted. Can we only imagine the delicacy of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, etc were back 2000 to 2500 years ago???
Away for a few days and had to catch up! Just showed treating people with kindness and respect produces more bountiful rewards than ever could be had otherwise. I think Daccius is a good person at heart - like his mother - but was molded by his father. Through Lucinius' eyes, his heart is now trying to align with his head. I have a feeling their father my be left a bitter, lonely, old man at some point. Karma's a bitch! 😂
If the land rocky and barren, wouldn't it be ironic if it was the top of the largest salt mine in the area making Lucinius ridiculously rich - just the opposite of his worthless fathers hope. The irony in it all is justifiable and funny. Rock on Lucinius and Aumen, with Grandfather Gaius' help!
It's sad some fathers are never happy with anything their child does. Lucinius' grandfather on the other hand warms a soul with his protecting and guiding ways - opening doors to a mind without end.
