I think, or at least hope @centexhairysub, that by responding to Casey with a "No! Fuck you", Levi has realised Casey has used him. If Levi has realised this, I believe it will strengthen his resolve to do the right thing; he will confess to having taken Matt's Commodore for a joyride and crashing it, and he will sever all future contact with Casey. I think the latter would be sufficient to restore his friendship with Jimmy and Dan, but perhaps not Brooke. I must confess I did not care much for Brooke; I thought she was a little pushy and demanding, dare I say a teenage girlfriend.

I don't think the council would need to offer a bounty to its residents @Mark Ponyboy Peters; just provide residents with the necessary equipment and let their disdain for the Thompsons do the rest.

This chapter demonstrated, like no other before it, just how influential Luke is. It has been apparent from the moment Luke and Matt commenced their romantic relationship, that Matt has great respect for Luke's moderating nature. Although acutely aware of this, I was still surprised that Matt and Luke are aware of the events which led to the destruction of Matt's beloved Commodore, and that it was Luke's plea to not question Levi about this, rather to wait for Levi to reveal all, Matt readily agreed to. Ultimately, I think Luke made the right call, and Matt to his credit has waited patiently for this to happen. I was not surprised Brooke has "dropped" Levi but was surprised and initially a little disappointed Jimmy and Dan did the same. I have tried to put myself in Jimmy and Dan's shoes and in doing so have reconciled why they acted the way they did. I am hopeful they will renew their friendship with Levi once he demonstrates that he has severed all contact with Casey and his band of miscreants. Hopefully this return to friendship between Levi, Jimmy and Dan will at least be underway, if not complete, by the end of the next chapter, the end of the "second arc". My mother lives on the Mid-North Coast of NSW near the towns @Mark Ponyboy Peters has modelled Thompsonville and Macquarie Harbour on @CincyKris. Several councils in that part of the world have schemes in place encouraging residents to catch and euthanise invasive species such as cane toads. Perhaps the governing council could offer residents of Thompsonville a similar incentive to either "catch and kill" or "catch, neuter and release" members of the Thompson family.

The "Nicholas bug"? Sometimes 'bugs' can make one very ill, including a severe dose of the shits. I wonder what a renewed "friendship" in Nicholas' eyes looks like. I am sceptical as to what his real motivation is for wanting to renew their friendship. It appears Vicky's passion for social justice may be as strong as her passion for junk food. I was very surprised by her outrage at the principal's apparent exclusion of same-sex couples at the Year 11 ball, particularly when she labelled him a fascist. There is no suggestion Crampton Collegiate is a religious-based school so I am somewhat surprised by the principle's decree. Hopefully some Year 11 students will challenge this nonsense or just ignore it. I am not surprised Stu is gay; time will tell if he is vacuous, shallow or a very happy-go-lucky lad. On face value his being gay appears to be a complete non-event to him, so presumably his parent(s) feel the same way.

So many delightful moments in this chapter @Robert Hugill, none moreso than Mother slipping Alex some money to contribute to a shirt for Neil, and her flirtation with sauciness again “Of course. Neil’s a clever lad.” She gave me a sly smile. “And I have to say that he fills that new shirt out handsomely.” Not only does her support for Neil shine through time and time again, but her support for her son in his choice of partner must warm the cockles of Alex's heart immeasurably. I don't recall Edwin and Evan appearing at the same function before, and when Edwin first appeared I mixed him up with Evan, primarily because he is usually introduced as Uncle Edwin and I had a blonde moment. Given Rose accompanied him I should have clicked immediately, but I didn't. Of course it became plainly obvious once Evan arrived, particularly when Edwin once again demonstrated how shallow he is when Alex mentioned all the upcoming events he and Neil will be attending. "Neil rumbled in amusement. “Might end up being some numpty.” With that he turned and kissed me, then made his way back in. “Better say ta-ta to this lot and encourage them to bugger off so’s Gar can get home.” Now there is a word I have not seen in print for a long time, numpty. Somewhat onomatopoeiac I think. Simply marvellous chapter @Robert Hugill, amongst Blighty's finest.

"Your way" would be far more enjoyable to witness. Perhaps @Lee Wilson's reference to him as "Burnie" may be in recognition of Anthony "burning" him with a witty putdown or a scathing remark about his homophobia and threat to kill Dusty.

I assume so, and it seems a few other commenters have made the assumption @dboggs9700, but then what is the old saying about "assuming". Perhaps the deep howl from afar was the sound of Vince totally healed by Skarg, and perhaps Skarg resurrected for his good deed. With Skarg almost certainly healing Vince, will our favourite throuple become a quadouple? Will "Wolfie" finally experience butt fucking with Theodore and/or Vince and/or Skarg, hopefully not all at the same time for a first time experience? Will Theodore get over all his hangups about being "manly" and bottom for Vince? Will Vince and "Wolfie" return to Glasstone or remain with Vince as members of the Whiteflame pack?

I wonder @weinerdog if the minor spoiler @Lee Wilson refers to be might be as follows: Bernie finds out who Kurtis' father is, possibly by "beating it" out of Loretta (it would not be out of character to do this). Bernie then contacts a solicitor with the intention of suing Anthony to recover all the money he has spent on raising Kurtis as his son. Said solicitor then contacts Anthony to "warn" him about psycho Bernie.

A very sensible and practical suggestion @Charles26. I like it. Hopefully young Levi listens and follows it too.

Vacuous. You could be right @drsawzall. I thought shallow, but vacuous may be closer. Vicky is unable to access her bedroom because it is filled with empty pizza boxes, empty KFC containers, empty Hungry Jacks containers, empty McDonalds containers, empty Krispy Kreme donut boxes and thousands of empty Kettle Chips and Smith's Crisps packets. I see a pattern emerging here, all the boxes/containers are empty. It is small wonder she spent the night farting in Richard's bed. Mum (or Mom as you Americans say) is keeping herself well lubricated in case Dickoless comes for a visit. She is now a cougar-in-training, looking for some "young meat". It appears I am the “odd one out”, apart from @Philippe, after reading this chapter. I am appalled by Bernie’s AND Loretta’s behaviour. I do not buy she did the best she could under the circumstances. Her son, the one whom she gave birth to, is 14 years old. He did not ask to be born, nor did he ask her to lie to her husband he was not her son’s biological father. And whilst on this issue, why did she feel the need to now reveal to her husband he is not her son’s father. What did it achieve, apart from antagonising him even further. The only kudos I give Loretta is that she saved Dusty from being killed, which I thought was almost certain to happen even before she revealed it, and that she put $1,000.00 in Kurtis’ bank account. As Kurtis himself stated "She nodded, and I just nodded goodbye to her. I was close to being done with her too. Thanks for standing up for me, mom." As for Bernie, I am pleased to read you have something "special" planned for Burnie, and I hope you change your mind and it becomes literally @Lee Wilson. The fact he threatened to kill Dusty did not come as a surprise; he is an absolute c u next Tuesday. Unfortunately this scenario is all too common; pets are often abused or killed in domestic disputes. As for Kurtis' friend Chase, what a loser. I doubt Kurtis will ever see him again but the loss will be all Chase's, although I imagine Chase is too stupid to even realise this. You are back with a bang @Lee Wilson. A riveting start to your latest gem. I am incensed with the treatment of Kurtis by the three people who should have stood by him, but unfortunately not surprised by their reactions. Your talent for creating hideously believable characters to the fore again; bring on the revenge. And I echo the sentiment expressed by several of the faithful, I am very pleased to hear you have found a new job as it has been quite some time I think that you have been without work.

She is very smart, not at all physically attractive, clearly disinterested in fashion and likely has little interest in boys, all of which would make her a target for "mean girls", because there is nothing more shallow, ruthless, status-obsessed or nastier than a high school girl. Harriet's father, what an odd but potentially interesting man. Perhaps a university professor, with a quirky sense of humour. I wonder if he was "in" on Harriet's secret to lure Richard to her home for a visit. Stu, not sure what to make of him. In this chapter he did not impress as much as in the prior chapter. He is perhaps a little shallow too, but then he is a 16 year old boy, whose mind is heavily influenced by his hormones. An interesting tale @Richie Tennyson.

Dickoless. Brilliant @drsawzall. No dick, no spine, no manners. An all-round non-entity. As @Philippe said, who cares about Nicholas (Dickoless). Maybe Dickoless might be a conquest for Cheryl or Rosemary, or Felix forbid, for Richard's mother.
