I must say @Mark Ponyboy Peters that for someone whom I believe has spent most of his life living inland, you have a great appreciation for the majesty of the ocean, at least the Pacific Ocean, and the attraction of coastal life. Reading this story I have found myself feeling somewhat melancholic (more so than usual) and dreaming of a simpler life in tune with the sounds of the waves as they roll in to shore, a sound which I equate with peace and tranquility.

My "hay fever" struck with a vengeance after the father and son revelations @starboardtack. You may find this latest gem from @Mark Ponyboy Peters will stir up the dust in your locale on many an occasion. It often only takes a few words, never maudlin or overly sentimental, and you will cry a river. "Later that night, lying in bed, Levi tried to push Casey out of his mind. But when sleep finally came, his dreams betrayed him. In them, Casey was smiling, leaning in close, tanned skin, blond hair brushing Levi’s face. The dream shifted, became heated. Levi woke in the middle of the night, breathing hard, his sheets sticky again, with the evidence of his body’s betrayal. Shame flooded him immediately. He cleaned up quietly, then lay awake staring at the ceiling, whispering desperate prayers for strength." Hopefully Matt or Luke will notice the stiffness of Levi's sheets and initiate a discussion with him. The shame he is feeling after a wet dream is physically and emotionally unhealthy thanks to his grandfather. Casey Thompson. Is he to be trusted, or is he a wolf in a sheep's clothing, and very attractive clothing at that. We will have to be patient and wait and see. Casey knows Levi is living in the "gay house"; I wonder if he is experiencing same-sex attractions and thinks Levi would be a sure bet as someone to experiment with. Quite a short chapter this one @Mark Ponyboy Peters. It must be a Shetland.

He is certainly gregarious, full of vim and vigour, and freely expresses his admiration of Caleb to him. I sense much of it as false bravado, an act, that underneath he is a lonely boy like Caleb, but with a much better home life. I believe Caleb, Billy, Riley, Isaac and perhaps the mysterious Sam, would all benefit from a closer friendship with each other. Caleb listened. "...and then Billy—you know, the guy who pretends to be your bully? Yeah, he's kissing you in the bathroom during break. I saw you both. Real dramatic. But he's run into the same problem I did. A pause. The squeak of a chair. "You're awesome, but you know... you’re limp as a noodle. Makes me laugh. Jock-boy bully and me, exact same boat with the exact same dude. Except he's got the whole 'tortured secret romance' thing going on, and I've just been sitting here talking to a wall for four years." I daresay the anti-psychotic drugs Dr Duclose and Caleb's mother have him on have had a drastic impact upon his hormones. Another crime for which she must pay for. Hopefully her new husband, Grace's father presumably or perhaps not, is a good person, because Diana Ho-lloway should lose custody of Grace and Caleb, which I guess she will if she is imprisoned. Diana in prison; female prisoners don't like those who have committed crimes against children, and they can be just as vicious as male prisoners. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

They sure are, demonising all sorts of animals e.g. wolves, bears and mice to name but a few.

The list of "stellar qualities" is getting longer with each passing chapter and each revelation @drpaladin. Personally I don't care if she is a ho, but when she judges Caleb for his sexuality, all bets are off salope (thank you again @Vcs, this word is proving to be sooooooooo useful).

It appears Councilman Archer may be Caleb’s biological father. Presumably he was conceived when his mother was married to the man who Caleb believes is his biological father, a man who presumably believes Caleb is his biological son. Diana Holloway, two-faced, holier-than-thou, self-righteous bitch that she is "stepped out" on her husband. This would certainly be something Vickie used to blackmail both Diana and Councilman Archer for. If Councilman Archer was informed by Caleb's mother that he is Caleb’s biological father I hope he insisted on a DNA test to prove it. Diana Holloway may have been a very popular woman, such that Caleb’s father could have been any number of the male population of Grey Harbour. Diana Ho-lloway.

It is a ghastly nursery rhyme of animal cruelty (as were a number of childhood nursery rhymes those of us who grew up in the 1960's and 1970's were subjected to), but in this instance the fate of theThree Blind Mice would be well deserved by Manny's attackers. I had a wonderful image of Shir chasing after them with a very sharp kitchen knife and it is not their tails she was cutting off. Suffice to say, none of them would be procreating ever again.

I created another word for another story, which the author liked. Dykedar. Much easier to say than lesbiandar.

Dr DuQuack. LOL. I almost peed myself laughing at this. And "motherf". A spelling mistake certainly, but the creation of part of another word. Bloody hilarious again @drpaladin.

Keeping you on your toes. The names are a bit ordinary, but they leant themselves to a yobbo abbreviation. If one takes your name for example, you cannot really "yobboise" it. Both Mark and Peters are short names and good "solid names".

What can I say @Mark Ponyboy Peters (bloody great song by Boz by the way). This chapter seemed to provoke lots of comments from others in addition to mine, from @Philippe, from @weinerdog and an unpleasant reminiscence on the part of @Gary L, for starters. I may have gone a little overboard, but @Gary L's unpleasant recollection really got me thinking that I was quite fortunate. I am a little precious at times, and can be a bit of a wuss, but all in all I think I fared well in hindsight. With this chapter you stirred us up @Mark Ponyboy Peters, memories resurfaced. I believe this is what a good writer does, elicits a reaction, whether positive or negative. You done good.

And remembers Councilman Archer. A man who already knew what his son had done to Caleb, a man who may have silenced Vickie Morrison to ensure his protection, to ensure the reputation of his legacy, to ensure the respect of the community for his wife, and perhaps protect his son, Tyler. Another red herring @drsawzallor a genuine suspect in the form of Councilman Archer. Will Caleb's mind continue to clear and imagined memories become lucid interactions? Will Riley bitch-slap RichBtich Chloe, comfort Isaac Foster and plead Caleb's case to his mother? Intrigue plus @Topher Lydon.

I am liking Rick more with each passing chapter @Paladin. His penchant for, and devotion to, champagne is very appealing. I have to wonder if he ever enjoyed the company of Dames Joan Collins and Shirley Bassey before he moved to Australia. Both are renowned for their appreciation of quality bubbles too. Waratah Family Clinic. I like the name, it conjures up an image of Skippy, Australia's international superstar from the late 1960's. An Aussie icon, multi-lingual at a time when few were. I have to ask what suburb you imagine the Clinic to be in @Paladin. Camperdown, Stanmore, Leichhardt or perhaps Petersham? The joint party to be held at Martin and Nathan's home should be a far more relaxed affair than that to be hosted by Natasha. I just she does not get wind of the party and gate crash it or file another false report/complaint with the police. Perhaps if she turns up she might drown in the pool after having imbibed too much, even before she arrived uninvited.

I cannot take credit for that. If one is, then @Paladin must take full responsibility for another member of that vile family. LOL.

I made them up @Ivor Slipper; a little "frivolity" which I have been "guilty" of before. @Paladin's comment about the "shadow of the Thompson family" being still present in the town motivated me to do so. I was going to refer to the them as Yobbo #1, 2, 3 and 4, but could not help myself, they just had to have names.

A very well-written and informative chapter for some of the characters and for we readers alike @Vcs. This chapter started with the informative, the revelations from CC and Shir to Mannly of the full extent of their relationship, and then to Jake and Mannly of the attraction which each holds for the other. The latter led to one of the funnier interactions in this story to date: “You two... You two are just too gosh darn cute!” CC struggled. “Well, what are you both doing still sitting at opposite ends of the sofa? I don’t think either will bite.” “At least not unless the other asks." Shir laughed and winked at them both." The latter half of the chapter turned "dark" with Jake's revelation to the men that the three men who heinously assaulted Mannly, may intend to return to Two Spirits Horse Ranch to finish what they started. The sudden change in mood in the room was palpable, with all in attendance pledging to protect Mannly, Shir, CC and each other. Well done @Vcs. You crafted a chilling suspense by chapter's end without melodrama.

I particularly like your comment in bold text @centexhairysub. I think it is testament to Levi's character growth, that the comments made by the arseholes bothered him, particularly with regard to Matt and Luke. The Levi we first met would likely have agreed with the arseholes, albeit without saying so, as this was what his bigoted and tyrannical grandfather had preached to him. I suspect that with confidence, Levi may even begin to defend Matt and Luke against the ignorant comments made about them as he is a teenager with principles. He may never be a Harvey Milk, but I don't think he will remain silent, particularly if he starts to experience same-sex attraction, which he has hinted at. If he does I hope he seeks Father Costas' counsel as that is when his grandfather's beliefs imposed on him will sorely test him.

Children are invariably vile @Gary L. I was called "four eyes" in kindergarten because I had thick bottle-top glasses and was relatively smart and very well-behaved (I did not start swearing until much later @weinerdog). By the age of 10, "poof" or "poofter" had started to creep into the vocabulary of some of my classmates, but I have to say it did not bother me as it was not said with any real malice, or none that I can remember. By the age of 12, some of my classmates and older children were starting to call me zit head (in reference to my hideous acne) or metal mouth (in reference to my "railway track" braces on upper and lower teeth). The only nicknames which really hurt were those directed at me because of my acne. It is my recollection that, perhaps not totally accurate, girls were much nastier than boys, complete bitches some were. I can still remember the names of two I hated, neither of whom was intellectually blessed, and only one of whom had any degree of physical beauty. I certainly swore at them @weinerdog, although I don't think I was using the "c" word as yet, unlike now when that is exactly what I would call them to their face. Levi being referred to as "Churchie" was fairly mild and may not have been said with derision, although more than likely it was. When I was at school @weinerdog, at the same time as @Mark Ponyboy Peters, it was not "cool" to be religious as the majority were not, certainly at a public school. It was also not uncommon to be given a nickname rather than being called by your given name. Invariably a nickname was a variation of your family name or your second given name or something totally different e.g. when I was in Year 7, there were 7 boys named David, myself included, in my class alone. Not one of us was called David by our classmates. In fact, very few males were called by their given name. It may have been different for girls amongst other girls. The comments made by the arseholes, Thommo (Blake Thompson), Jacko (Hamish Jackson), Smithy (James Smith) and Eddie (Christopher Edwards), were as you said @gary, utterly awful. I can only surmise that, as did @weinerdog, their parents have become aware of the new boy in town and with whom he is living, as Levi did not disclose any details of where he lived and the name of his father. I found it interesting Levi has retained Julie's family name of Chambers. I wonder if he will ever change it to Parsons for convenience sake. Jimmy certainly gives the impression of being a friendly and pleasant lad. Hopefully his parents are not amongst those townsfolk who refer to Levi's new home at Beachside Lane as the "gay house". Whatever their beliefs, Jimmy will be made welcome by Matt, Luke etc should he choose to visit Levi. Matt is very aware Levi had few friends back at home with Julie and his tyrannical grandfather, and is determined to see that change. He is encouraging Levi to experience friendship without being pushy. A very well written chapter as usual @Mark Ponyboy Peters. I strongly suspect the word "poofters" has been almost universally replaced with the word "faggots" as spewed by Thommo, Jacko, Smith and Eddie in this chapter, such is the encroachment of American culture on Australia. Personally, I am far more offended by the word "faggot" than by the word "poofter". To some extent I think the word "poofter" has been reclaimed. If anyone was to call me that now I would likely respond with "that's Mr Poofter to you arsehole" (unless I was by myself and then I would likely ignore them).

I hope you have been following your grandfather's sage advice @drsawzall.
