Everybody seemed to want to talk about plumbing problems and um, ventilation, but yes, I was hoping she was working on legal ways to keep Jack in Michigan

Yay Tommy. And good for Mom doing some "research." It's high time for that.

Teachers are supposed to be looking for that kind of pattern, but YMMV. Greenwood would have (and if he hasn't yet, I suspect he will).

So, after a bit of digging, Jensen was a named minion on the dark side, but it was never really clear if he was just going along with the group or had his own ideas and agency. So this is pretty open ended a generation later, maybe he matured a bit. Perhaps Greenwood knows better (as was his wont). Oh and I see Clovis chose the side of good, a generation back. Oh I remember I liked Mr Greenwood. Ugh, now I have to go look up Jason Jensen. Carter's Shadow, right?
-
Nothing much. Noah's complaint that Nick wasn't putting out isn't something you can take to the dean.
-
This sounds fun! I liked Lydia's intervention with Steve too, about how welcome it was going to be for Steve to shake up Kenny's life. People thinking "coming-out will be fun and easy and safe for everyone" is a peeve of mine. (and a relief for the story telling too, looks like you're skipping 5 chapters of dead-end subplot, which I'm good with)

I think mine is better, but you do you.

Does Matt Ashby's story have a working title? may I suggest The Worst Year ?
-
The behavior of the stinky Mr Johnston seems like it might be an real danger to the boys. Charitably, I think maybe Johnston can also be explained as merely having an eccentric interest in fermented foods and going for a misguided attempt to mimic "cartoon TV Dad" behavior through fart jokes and ugly sweaters. It's a bad miscalculation of the boys' social world, but I think I can see someone could slide into that mindset.

Oh excellent, I'm glad Nick came to his senses about Jack coming with him over the break. And the stinky Mr Johnston stayed below the criminal bar.

Flawed-but-good characters work through their issues and problems and overcome obstacles to their happiness in a classic but also very fresh manner. Very well paced and some really interesting ideas in the sticker-art subplot. The comments section debate over the possibly cryptic meaning of the title is also worth a visit !
-
Maybe? I sure hope so. There's still the ominous title to consider; Joel has refused to talk a few times and mumbled and dissembled a couple of times, but he hasn't really lied about anything important yet.

I feel the little paragraph that included "...the reason I couldn’t tell Celia was because me being too scared to see her reaction. That I wasn’t supposed to be clinging to her like a mother when she wasn’t one to me" could have sped things up a lot for us if that come up in Chapter 9 or so.

Jonah's also a smart small kid who wants into the older boys' social circle. He might have learned this with Christian; if he wants to hang around bigger kids, he's gotta make himself interesting. You can get better at banter with practice, and Jonah also seems to have practiced when to flounce off for effect. So, I see this as Jonah going with a winning strategy. Manic does describe him pretty well, but it doesn't need to be a pathology.

A picnic tea at the Reserve with Graham Philpott might be a nice experience to offer. -
Maybe? He hasn't done anything really awful yet, and he must have been told that Jack and Nick were at the center of the fuss that ousted his predecessor.

Quote: "We were a lot more careful now – anything that even came close to “sexual” activity stayed in our room, behind a locked door, usually after lights out." Wait what? The Harrison West dorms have lockable doors? So so much of this story could have turned out very differently if Jack or Nick or Noah had ever known that. At the very least I feel Jonah may have obtained some sort of master key when he acquired his "dorm goblin" status.
-
woo, maybe Joel and Colt will have an actual conversation in which they respond to each other's remarks and maybe even questions!

Oh good. The comments section is like Brad and Mike, we love and we worry.

Wow in that video shovel-guy waits at the door for dance-boy for quite a long time. Maps onto this story pretty well then.

The weeks of Jack and Nick waffling about what they were to each other was not a "swing for the fences." In baseball, a swing "for the fences" is trying to hit a home run (over the fence, like a six in cricket). It's going for the maximum, while increasing the risk that you might miss (swinging "for contact" is a more controlled, lower-risk, lower-reward strategy). So the walkout fits; it raised the stakes both for the students, who could be expelled, and for admin, who might need to explain in a press conference why the expelled someone for holding an "equality is for everyone" sign.
-
Yes, "pending administrative leave" seems to make Mr G into "Schrödinger's dorm parent" for now. I agree with Altimexis about the pics, it'd trigger consequences that can't be controlled or even fully understood, and it's not clear that this is an emergency right now.
