  1. I'm sure something will happen, Wesley, but you'll have to wait to see what that is.
  2. Thanks, Danilo, but I'm not surprised the other GSA members were also involved. Yes, it's a good thing Josh still has some contacts in the school district.
  3. Yes, there are a lot of adjustments to make in the house with a new baby.
  4. No matter how much society changes, there will always be those who attack those who are different from themselves, no matter what that difference is. Even some in the gay community attack the transgender community, and of course you've probably seen J.K. Rowling's comments on the subject. I'm sure Joshie and Benny will do everything in their power to address the situation, and I'm sure their fathers and grandfathers will do what they can to help as well. We just have to wait and see how this plays out.
  5. Dion and I were a little tired on Wednesday morning because we’d forgotten that infants require a late-night feeding. We had a wireless baby monitor in TJ’s room and another in our room, and it was a little after midnight when we discerned that TJ was beginning to fuss. At first, we merely heard his crib creaking, indicating he was being active and probably moving his arms and legs about. This was followed by other sounds that made us believe he was getting ready to cry, but he wasn’t actually c
  6. I lived in Keystone, South Dakota until I volunteered to join the army at the start of World War II. I’d married my high school sweetheart just before Pearl Harbor was bombed, and even though I hated to leave my wife, I felt compelled to defend the country. Since she couldn’t afford a place on her own, she decided to move back in with her parents until I returned from the war. After Basic Training, I was among the troops sent to fight in North Africa, and when that campaign ended, we were s
  7. Hank returns home after getting out of the army when World War II comes to an end, lands a job, and has a family. When he’s taking his three sons out on Halloween night, they begin experiencing some very unusual events – things they can’t explain. When they wake up the next morning, they witness the extent of what they were experiencing the previous evening and learn what was behind it. (Halloween story)
  8. Flesco, I'm glad you are enjoying this and TJ is a very lucky kid, as are the others. I'm sure they'll all do well. You point out many potential career paths they might take, and as of now we have no idea where they may decide to go. It will be interesting to see where they all end up. As for Brandon and Danny, with their busy lives and large family, I'm not sure if a baby is in their future, but we'll see. They may surprise us. As always, thanks for the feedback.
  9. Thanks, Danilo. You guys are giving my story a high honor, comparing it to the Rod Serling series. That's an interesting idea, that when they die they'll be transported back to their own time, but I think it would spook more than a few people on the other end.
  10. Thanks, Tony. It's hard to imagine how any of us would do in a similar situation, but if you follow the old adage 'if you're given lemons, make lemonade', that's what Ben and Caleb decided to do. I'm glad you enjoyed this story.
  11. That didn't mean they stopped trying to find the portal - they just never located it again. How would you make out if that happened to you? No modern conveniences or technology, your stuck with primitive phone service and silent films, then you get to the early black and white talkies until there is black and white television. Would you be bored out of your skull, or would you try to blend in and make the best of a bad situation? You'd have some advantages, if you paid attention in history classes, and you might get to see special moments of history up close and personal, but could you survive playing board and card games? I'll let each of you answer those questions for yourselves.
  12. Thanks for the feedback, Mawgrim. You bring up a very valid point about wondering if others had journeyed through that portal prior to Ben and Caleb. It's indeed possible, although we'll probably never know for sure. It's also an interesting thought about the doctor being from the future as well, but that would have changed the flow of the story dramatically. Thanks for sharing.
  13. It was Halloween, which happened to fall on a Saturday this year. My husband and I decided to take our daily walk after lunch, rather than after dinner, so we’d be home when the trick-or-treaters began to arrive. Fortunately, it was cool enough for us to do it at this time of day, because the days were much cooler now. Ben and I had met after college and got married when I was twenty-six and Ben was a year older. We’ve been happily married for three years now and we took a walk every evenin
  14. Ben and Caleb Webster, a married gay couple, go out for a walk on Halloween before the trick-or-treaters arrive. It’s a walk they take every night, but this time they end up in a place they barely recognize. (Halloween story)
  15. Thanks, flesco. Josh and Jake got to spend time with the boys and Josh has bonded with TJ, so they should be fine when Dion, Trey, and the boys return to school. Don't forget, Jesse has talked to Uncle Steve at Christmas, New Years, and Easter, so he didn't need to fill him in on a lot. He was merely making polite conversation. I'm glad you're looking forward to the next chapter, because there are plenty still to come.
  16. Thanks, tor, and we're only halfway through my 2020 Halloween offerings.
  17. Thanks, Tony. I'm glad you like them.
  18. Thank you for the support, Tony. There are three more stories to come.
  19. Some stories aren't meant to be as scary as horror films, but I'm glad you still enjoyed it.
  20. It was Halloween and I lived alone, so I’d been keeping an eye out for any trick-or-treaters that would rather play tricks than collect treats. I already had about a dozen groups dressed in costumes ring my doorbell and I happily gave them the treats they were hoping for. I also saw several older kids walking up and down the street, and since they weren’t wearing costumes and didn’t appear to be knocking on any doors or ringing any doorbells, I was afraid they were up to no good. At 9:30, o
  21. Brian Hayes just finished greeting the last trick-or-treater to come to his house when he decides to go outside to see if anyone pulled any pranks. At that point, he sees two more trick-or-treaters in the distance, and the next thing he remembers is that he’s waking up on the ground two hours later. After coming to, he struggles to learn what had happened during those missing two hours. (Halloween story)

    Chapter 1

Danilo, I'm glad you enjoyed this story. These spirits had some issues with how they died, so this was a little different than my other stories. I'm sure you're right about Graham, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to do more than a short story about the paranormal

    City of the Dead

Thanks, Danilo. I see you're into my Halloween stories, so this week is going to be right up your alley because I have a few more stories to post. You might want to check out The Naked and the Dead next.
  24. Yes, it makes you wonder how Graham in the Castaway series is able to deal with being able to see ghosts.

    Shifting Horrors

Yes, these stories are all written for the entertainment value. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
