    Chapter 1

What a lovely tribute to those who fought and died in the Great War. Who's to say that there wasn't a real Owen who suffered in similar ways, for we know there were a great many like Todd and the other men from the village that never returned? When I was growing up, I worked on my next door neighbor's farm. He fought in World War I and suffered from 'shell shock', which we now refer to as PTSD. Although he wasn't gay, I'm certain he would have been honored by your thoughts and tribute.

    Chapter 1

I was intrigued to see how I, um I mean Bill, solved the problem and captured the prize. Interesting read, Wayne. Very detailed and kept me captivated from beginning to end.

    Story

Renee, a very enjoyable and sweet tale. I liked the different take you had on the theme and how your characters made a 'real' family tree. After spending a good portion of the beginning of this year tracing my own family tree, it had special meaning for me. Great job and I truly enjoyed it.

    Chapter 1

Wayne, a very moving story. There are a lot of bastards in the world and, unfortunately, Ron ran into more than his share. It's bad enough to have a father like that, but then to follow it up with two lovers that abused him as well, I felt badly for Ron. The poor kid needed a break - and not a broken arm either. Powerful and well done.
  8. Beautifully written and very poignant. Natural disasters can be devastating, but you have shown that from the ashes rises hope and life. Well done!

    Chapter 1

Thanks, Wayne. Yes, each of my stories took the theme in a different direction, although I feel this is the most impportant. If those in power fail to take this seriously and act, future generations are going to pay the price for their inaction.

    Chapter 1

Thanks, Wayne. Even non-teachers wonder how those they've come into contact with throughout life have fared and if they'd touched those individuals in a meaningful way. With teachers, however, I feel there is an even greater impulse to do this and evaluate if they'd made a lasting impact or if they'd somehow failed certain students.

Thanks for the feedback, Wayne. Life gives us so many little trials that leave scars, but in this case they just wove together into a happy ending.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the feedback, Cia. While reading his jornal, Mr. Ross felt his better students prospered and did well, but he had nagging doubts about these few and wondered if he could have done more to help them. It was those that were scarred that gave him the most doubts about his effectiveness.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the feedback, Yetti One. This is a problem future generations may face, if we don't do something about it now.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the feedback, Jo Ann. I felt this was something that needed to be explored.
  19. I met Stone the summer before entering fourth grade. My family had just purchased a house in another neighborhood, which was on the other side of town from where we used to live. I didn't want to move and was devastated that I would have to leave all of my friends and classmates behind. It was one of the worst nightmares that someone my age would ever have to go through. Almost as soon as the movers finished taking the last items out of the moving van and had placed everything in the house,

    Chapter 1

The Severe Climate Awareness and Relocation Services unit, S.C.A.R.S. for short, was founded in 2043 and charged with relocating individuals and families living in areas that were most affected by the rising sea level. Those working for the agency were assigned to assist the communities that were becoming inundated with salt water and where the homes and businesses were slowly being reclaimed by nature. This meant there were regional offices situated all along the east coast, west coast, Gulf

    Chapter 1

My name is Bob Ross and I'll be retiring as a teacher when the school year ends. In preparation for this, I began removing the personal items from my classroom that I had collected over the years and took them home. As I stored them in my den, I spotted several dusty, old journals sitting forgotten on one of the shelves. In them were recorded my memories of the classes I'd taught over the years. Like any educator, we tend to take notice of the good students, as well as those we've had proble
  22. The Severe Climate Awareness and Relocation Services agency, S.C.A.R.S. for short, was founded in 2043. Charlie went to work for them 50 years later and will assist those living in areas adversely affected by the extreme changes to relocate. Since this is such a major undertaking, Charlie questions how they are going to accomplish this and why previous generations hadn't done more to prevent it from getting to this point.
  23. Bob Ross is a teacher nearing retirement. A sentimental moment has him reading the journals he'd kept during his long career and causes him to remember some of his former students. It also makes him wonder if he could have done more to help some of them.
  24. Jeremy was miserable when his family decided to move across town to another neighborhood, but his mood changed when he met his new neighbor, Stone. Will they form a friendship that will last through high school and beyond, or will it end with a trip to the emergency room?
