Another great chapter - A stroke of genius - parental emancipation no less. Great idea and interesting to follow the "legal" ramifications. I love this kid and he is so bright and is not going to take shit from anyone.

It seems that several of us are intrigued by the appearance of the young Lord Kingsdale and of George's motives that can likely be several in nature. I would support that this young man being quite alone in the world will benefit greatly from George's attention and tutelage. I for one certainly hope that things will work out for Dr. Jackson as not least of which it appears his healing skills are noteworthy given the state of 18th century medical knowledge and skills. I cannot help but again express my appreciation for the continuing surprise of early morning weekend reading material for one who finds sleep less accommodating as a pastime as the years move on. How better than to awaken to an interesting romp in 18th century England under the guidance of an author who seems as comfortable in this genre as he does in the 21st century drama of the multi generational "one man's family". Keep up the excellent and stimulating literary endeavors.

Congrats to you Mark -you are an author par excellence. You are appreciated for what you produce and that you take your writing and your readers seriously. Your timeliness and concern for the reader and your active response to the reviews is is greatly valued by those of us who follow your work closely. This chapter is key in moving the important issues of tenuous relationships as well as highlighting the biased views against gays in the public arena. Thanks again you clearly stand above the crowd.

Mark, thanks for livening things up - this is all so real - families, famous or not, dealing with turmoil and strong personalities, people used to having things their way. I remain on Will's side recognizing that he is calling a spade a spade and yes it may hurt and bruise some pride. JJ is a prema donna, yes, he may be a diva - but just recognize it and do some interventions with the counselor to keep Will and JJ from destroying each other. Let's recognize that they each have needs and perhaps the counselor can help them to recognize that together they can be each be stronger by helping one another. Again, great story telling and yes we asked for it so keep it coming.

When I see the Paternity label in the latest story updates my eyes go wide and my next query is what color is the type and when I see blue my lips curl in to a delighted smile and I settle in with anticipation of a pleasurable read. and guess what, I was not disappointed - our boy is certainly a busy bee and certainly seems in his own element with all pistons firing. You left very few emotions out of this one. great work, Mark, keep it up!!
-
Mark-- I appears to me that you have an intelligent and challenging adolescent buried deep within you just busting to get out! You do adolescence really well. I enjoy reading about Will so much Every time I see blue type I can't wait to begin reading

I really enjoyed this chapter with just Will (mostly) and watch him deal with the various persons in his life. It is easy to see his maturing process and how good it is for him to have adults of varying ages and observe the differing interactions among them. Sort of a fun escape back to adolescence for us older guys. As always a pleasure, Mark.
-
An intense emotion charged resolution of conflict among a group of very intellectually complex persons. On an interpersonal level a very sensitive and touching portrayal of human frailty and the need of family to come together for healing to take place. Very adroitly handled, Mark
-
Mark - I am just left speechless - you have said it all and put it so well - it would be nice to say that they "lived happily ever after" but we know that would be naive at best. I like Jeff - he appears to me to be a smart level headed sort of guy. Wade needs someone like him in his life - keep him around! You have done a marvelous work of writing and expediency to serve your loyal following. Now that the pressure is off - let's see what lies in store for (Sir) George or whatever is his title to be??
-
What a masterfully laid out chapter. I like the development of the role and character of Jeff-- what a 'sleeper'. Wade is the perfect man to pair him up with. Wade needs someone like Jeff in his life. You blew me away with Brad's letter to Will and with Will's response - just reduced me to tears a very touching encounter for the two just through email. Hat's off to you and your dedication and skill as an author par excellence.

Mark, Good work with a balanced strategy. Will learned quickly that the world without his support system can get pretty fucked up and scary. He will be safer on the mainland and on home turf with the family cottage in SC. Brad and Robbie are not going to be very forgiving for some time anyway and Will needs to cut them a wide swath. No point in tangling with them face to face until they come to him after a significant cooling off period, with Stef and JP as his advocates. I hope you get some down time as this settles down.

A very healing chapter for Sir George, to be able to mend frayed relationships and to set the stage for his future in many areas. As always your portrayal of British life on the edge of royalty with Sir George as the swashbuckling knight of the Sea allows one to mentally engage with eighteenth century naval life as well as have a view of the titled land holders of the period. Your grasp of British Naval tradition woven into this adventures of Sir George are indeed remarkable and make for a very enjoyable read. Again, the exceptional quality of your writing as well as promptness does not go unnoticed. Thanks again, Mark

Let's not forget that given the strategic thought and planning that Will gave to his departure and while considering Will to be a relatively young adolescent he is in many ways mature beyond his years. Will is hurt and angry and I am sure that he does not want to face Brad or Rob until some time as well dialogue has occurred among family members. He above all wants to know that he will be treated fairly with genuine love and affection. He will not stay in one place and will be very cagey and careful to be certain he continues to maintain control of his situation and use it to further his personal best interests. I have some misgivings in the tactics used to get the alternate ID details and then sharing with everyone without Will being aware or and agreeing. Thanks Mark for the rapid turn around as it allows your dedicated and loyal readers to give real time input.

Mark, another masterfully prepared chapter. Thanks for releasing it so quickly. I must have reread chapter 31 4 or 5 times just absorbing the significance and potential impact of each paragraph. Stef did a masterful job in having presence of mind enough to remind Brad of his very similar actions as a distraught adult when he and Robbie had their split. The ground work has been well prepared for a return of Will to the abode of his choice and the possibility of minimal retribution on the part of Brad and Robbie. Another outstanding literary work that is suspenseful, strategic and clever.

Mark, This chapter is a true work or art. I can feel the satisfaction and pleasure you instilled in this masterpiece. I love and admire Will even more to have the intellect and creativity to wreak such havoc and to prove the point to one and all the he deserves to be treated with fairness and respect and to get the attention of the influential members of the family. From your prior comments I know you feel that eventually all will be forgiven and life will go on. I am not so certain that that will happen very easily now that the die has been cast. This is indeed a chapter to go down in the annals of family history as remarkable and truly memorable!!

Mark, as you are a professional author and to some degree you write to your audience and so from that position I would assume that it is alright to say the we expect to be "entertained" (one definition is ;engaging) and you certainly do achieve that objective in my book anyway. Having shepherded 3 sons through adolescence to adulthood my humble sense is that Brad and :Rob are fully incapable and inadequate at parenting and guiding Will through these tumultuous years. This breech among them has suddenly become a chasm that is becoming so wide that it may never be repaired. They totally ignored Wills comment that the flask was not his because it did not suit their purpose. If they think Will is rebellious now - they are just seeing the tip of the ice berg as the family ship heads straight into disaster. It truly as a shame and a lost opportunity following on Wills river experiences and actually some really significant and remarkable passages having, as a gay teenager, shagged his first girl and been fucked by his straight buddy - all I can say to that is Wow! So now Mr. Mark I can hardly wait to see how you are going to pull this on off!!
-
In my book one would expect parents to make the first moves in reconciliation. Will is truly hurting and as a protective defense is pushing back hard. I believe some professional family counseling is needed to bring Will and JJ back in to synch with Brad and Robbie. So, Will in his ever helpful way has helped his buddy out, clearly not at all complaining about the need and opportunity.
-
Mark thanks so much for believing that another adventure on the high seas is just what is needed to get Sir George out of his funk and provide exciting adventures for those of us who avidly seek your creative, interesting and at times nail biting stories. It was good to bring Cavendish back in to cheer Sir George while he prepares his embarkation on his new ship. I am certain you have lots of goodies and excitement as we follow Sir George on his long journey to India and back. (He will come back, won't he??

It appears that the relationship between Will and his Dad(s) is on the verge becoming a widening chasm. It seems that a third party (preferably disinterested) needs to mediate a retreat from the precipice and assist in establishing a real dialogue among the parties before this family is split further apart. I seems that JP as the patriarch would be well suited to lead this and keeping it in the family might be preferred although I would not rule out the use of an impartial but respected and skilled family therapist. Cudo's to Wade for seeing the opportunity presented to establish an opportunity to expand the out reach of The Mission for young men in a very significant way. Good work Mark - you are touching on some very important and significant issues that are frequently swept to the corner and not dealt with and can tear families apart for decades.

Who is being more or less mature, Will or the rents == its hard to tell sometimes. It appears at times that each one needs a swift kick. It looks like Gathan will not be playing again this season, although back in 2000 they did not take sports injury concussions as seriously as they do today. Maybe he can focus on sorting his Kristin issue in the meantime. another superbly done story, Mark.
-
Mark, you are exactly right when you describe Will as going through the typical years of teenage angst. I have raised 3 sons and believe me when I say that the range of emotions that fly from one end of the spectrum to the other are enough to try the souls of the supposed "saints". I would much prefer a teenager like Will who will talk and put it out in front, rather have silence and brooding and hostile aggressive behavior as well acting out in other more destructive ways. Adolescence is difficult even in the best of circumstances. Why do adults pretend that they never went through that period and pretend to have all the answers as to how one should conduct themselves during the most difficult years that anyone has to experience, and worse should they bail out by running away or other take on other self destructive behavior i.e, suicide. Mark, Let me say that what you are showing us in these chapters is worth more than any criticism you might receive. It evokes a healthy reality of life and in several ways can help us to really think about the issues being presented and faced and we can all become the better for it. Keep up the outstanding work.
-
Great chapter - just goes to show what can happen when families communicate and share information - everyone eventually comes out a winner!
-
Thank goodness, Will is back, life with the rents has become too autocratic and pedantic. I have a problem with adults when they do not listen and communicate with their hormone driven adolescents. If fact it appears to me that they are acting out worse than Will. Yes, molestation is a serious issue, but no excuse for the adults not to deal with Wll and JJ in an open and forthright manner . In spite of it all I have not had a good laugh in a while and having Will back clearly helps fill that bill. I love this guy and we need to have much more of him. Thanks for bringing him back!
-
Mark, in your inimitable style you have again upset our complacency with scenes that disturb even the most adventurous among us. It was indeed disturbing to see our hero who we hold in such honor and esteem subjected to such degrading and humiliating events. Yet, how can we not experience life in its fullness unless we take the risk to delve into the potential events that could possible beset any one of us. Better it be viewed as written than to have experienced it in the flesh. You had shocked and surprised us again - keep up the good work.

This chapter was badly needed. Sir George was floundering in a sea of mixed emotions and did not know whom he could trust and who he could turn to for advice, consolation and comfort. He has found such a person in Chartley who has become more than a friend, counselor and most of all a trusted companion. Now Sir George has a framework of ideas and a discussion of plans for moving forward. The intimacy and the shared experience has benefited both men and it appears this will be a relationship that will continue to develop and grow. Yes, Mark, you have a great intuitive sense regarding your characters and have put it to good use in rescuing Sir George.
