What if George forced Noah to go with him? Brett is going to piece something together yet. I don’t know if it is going to matter much in 8 days. I guess a lot can still happen in that time. It seemed anyway that either Brett acted like he didn’t know much about Noah’s relationship with George but now I’m wondering why his father is not a fan of George

I don’t trust Kyle at all. I think he’s a manipulative little bastard. For that matter I’m having a difficult time trusting Shaun. He’s too emotionally driven right now

Noah makes me very uncomfortable at this point. I feel he’s slipping mentally. Not that I blame him but right now, he’s motivated, coldly calculating & desperate. That makes him dangerous. What happens if Colt suddenly gets a backbone and says no and thinks he should inform someone of what George has been doing? Will Noah see Colt as a threat to his plan and hurt him too?

I kept waiting for Shaun to collapse and pass out up until that kiss and total freak Jesse out.

Oh thank you..

You’re spot on.

Sigh. I really don’t know how I feel about this chapter. I can relate to Noah except my abuser was an older student who was a narcissist. I never got revenge so to speak. I never got closure. I just saw him out a bullet through his temple from 15 feet away. He thought I was going to go to the authorities. I wouldn’t have. I just wanted out. But when you’re 13 and he’s 16…nobody makes great decisions right? Well I sure didn’t. Lots and lots of therapy years later and learning how to accept things I cannot control and how to focus on what I can and there are times my therapist and I revisit some of those exercises still even more years later with different challenges. Anyway, sorry about the side rant. This isn’t about me. I can see where Noah is so hyper focused on escaping George, he doesn’t see the safest and smartest way out IS going to the authorities. He’s angry. He wants George to pay. He’s motivated too. Colt is getting cold feet and rightly so. For Noah’s sake and his, he needs to say something yesterday. Amy, is beginning to win me over. Slowly. Perhaps Colt can talk to her as a sounding board.

My apologies.

I’m guessing totally

Shaun’s defenses are weakening quickly. The entertaining thing for me is, Shaun has yet to really realize it. It was mentioned above that perhaps Jesse is moving rather quickly and a bit too touchy feely so soon. I tend to agree but it might also be just his personality. So far the laying of girls seems more boasting to prop themselves up more than actual conquests even though both boys have had sex with girls. It seems to me anyway that those experiences are whatever vs awesome. Let’s hope that scrub job helps with that cut that’s infected. I’d hate to see it put him in the hospital. Then Shaun would really see how much Jesse cares for him and for that matter, so would Jesse.

Time will tell. Of course if he’s writing this as he goes I’m probably ruining everything and he’s having to rewrite 😂😂😂😂

Noah’s or Brett’s? You make great points that Brett knew about the treehouse, even way before Colt came into the picture. How? Why? Has Brett ever been over to Noah’s? Why? Goes back to my original theory. Brett has a lot of hatred towards Noah and we don’t know why. He covers it in bullying. There’s more to THAT story. The further this goes on the more I’m leaning that angle. Of course I could be totally over analyzing and there’s nothing at all but nobody does things like this for no reason or just because. Maybe Brett is in the closet and Noah turned him down. Maybe Noah hit on Brett and it disgusted Brett. But something happened.
-
I can see both points. I don’t know though. Maybe he is just and entitled kid who’s daddy is sheriff and can get a way with a lot or maybe there’s more to his story yet and this is an act. A defense mechanism maybe. Maybe it’s nothing but him just being an asshole
-
Can we really fault Brett though for being an asshole towards Noah and Colt? I say this because think about. Noah told Colt that Brett threatened he’d burn down his treehouse if he narced on him again. Nobody else knew about that. Then it happened and his truck wrecked and he nearly died from it. Surely he knows how well kept his truck was before that. To me, it isn’t a reach to put two and two together and come up with motive. I’m not agreeing bc with his behavior so much as I am saying I understand why.

I was afraid this would happen. Kudos to Colt for resisting. I get the feeling Brett isn’t going to let up his accusations at school. Just wait until his father hears it. Also, this further fortifies my suspicions with Brett having similar history with Noah. Also, I get the feeling Noah was secretly crushing on Tyler before Colt came to town. His interest in what Tyler said about Noah being gay was notable. I hope Noah can sneak back home without being caught.something tells me this animosity between Brett and Colt is only going to grow and explode quickly. Kudos for Colt for not being afraid to be out at the party. I also love how the rest of Rylee’s friends accepted Noah. That is heartwarming.

There’s a lot to unpack in this chapter. Let’s start with the chemistry lab “explosion”.the move was borderline desperate on Jesse’s part but it worked I guess. Jesse obviously had wants to win favor with Shaun and is it also backfires by making him even more popular. Speaking of Shaun, that dude has some serious psychotic tendencies that should be glaring red flags to Jesse but instead they make him even more interested. They had some interesting conversation on the way home walking back from school. It doesn’t surprise me Shaun likes to shoot things. Weapons talk etc. Then Jesse gets home and has this bdsm erotic dream involving Shaun and I think he was talking in his sleep because Sam gave him a look. That was also Shaun in the shadows. Had to be. Gives this some creepy country Texas chainsaw massacre vibe and it didn’t phase Jesse at all. Kyle appears to have the hots for Jesse to and this dude might make Shaun more jealous and want act on his violent impulses.
-
Well that was an eye opener. Is it the shunning from the rest of the students that feed Shaun’s hate and self mutilation? He does seem the inwardly crave attention but doesn’t know what to do with it so I guess he hates it and himself for it. The grandparents definitely play it fast and loose with him for the most part. The kid is intense.

I’ve started this story I think once or twice. I’m bound and determined to see it through now. First thoughts: yeah I’ll imagine Jesse is closer to 17 vs 18 and it fits more. But it’s not a big deal. Shawn is… curiously dangerous it seems. That or that’s the vibe he wants to portray. Why constant hate and internal rage just barely below the surface? I’m sure we will learn. Jesse seems to be in a nearly impossible position however this does make him much more mature and patient that most his age. He doesn’t worry much about what he can’t control which is a breath of fresh air. He’s outgoing and honest and obviously caring. That makes him very appealing. Shawn it appears, is the exact opposite. I sense the attraction already.
-
I’m not so sure he’s mirroring it so much as letting his panic and emotions control things. But, on the flip side, he, from what we can tell, doesn’t know any different either since he doesn’t have friends or really interact with other adults so it may feel like normal behavior to him too. Hopefully he doesn’t turn dark and start to abuse Colt. Often times, abused kids turn into abusers as adults for the very reason above I just mentioned. Right now however, I feel Noah is still savable. But it better happen soon. The boy needs a lot of deep therapy.

This was a much needed change of experience for both boys and, I suspect, an eye opening experience for Colt’s mother. While I agree that Vincent and his partner would be better parents than Noah’s, I don’t know if Pamela would be charged with anything should the authorities ever get involved. That said, she HAS TO at least suspect physical and verbal abuse perhaps not the sexual abuse. I also agree that Vincent is quite perceptive and the subtle warning was to both boys. It was also a warning to Colt’s mom who, it would be safe to assume, is unaware of a lot. I suspect her and Colt will be having a conversation about his temper, his past activities at his old school, and certain events that line up way too conveniently to be coincidence. Let’s hope they heed that advice.

@mastershakeme this.

I still stand by my suspicions regarding Brett and his dad. If George is all buddy buddy with the Sheriff, and Brett outwardly shows hate for Noah, especially as cold as it is, there has to be more to that story

I disagree here. I think Colt’s mom feels stuck yes but I think he agreed with Noah more out of the feeling that he’s not going to change Noah’s mind.
-
Happy the news was accepted well. I’m happy Brett wasn’t too badly injured. I wonder though what is going to become of THAT situation. Is Brett going to know his truck well enough to know that those lug nuts shouldn’t have come loose like that on their own all at once and start to question things? Or will it end there, writing off the accident and an inexperienced driver? The conversation with Noah later is going to be a big one. Hopefully, Colt can change Noah’s mind on premeditated murder thoughts and instead go to the authorities. I also don’t think Colt’s mom was satisfied or fooled by Colt’s answer. Hopefully she will start to press Noah’s mom for more info, sharing what she noticed and maybe, just maybe Noah’s dad gets caught in the act or at least Noah’s mom gets Noah to talk without Noah’s dad being aware because if he finds out, I wouldn’t put it pass him to have his own premeditated murder thoughts for both of them.

Im not convinced the boys wouldn’t be believed if they went to the authorities. I think there is ways to obtain proof. There’s no reason why Noah couldn’t have done what Colt wanted and come over maybe draped in a blanket or something and called the police from there to respond. It doesn’t have to be the sheriff’s office. This story seems to be in modern era so there is enough “see something say something “ advocacy out there now. Hence the other teacher’s inquiry. Any nurse, or medical provider has the obligation to report any possible suspicious activity against a child in a well care check up. The problem is ppl are scared of being getting it wrong and getting sued.
