Well, I don't see this saga as a quest for the crown, but as a quest for the inner self. This is not the story of Darien learning to become a king; it is the story of Darien learning to become a father. And the true destination is not Jerusalem. The real journey is the search for a way back home. In the end, his soul will not be redeemed by claiming the crown, but by renouncing it.

Friend, watcher, spy, or helper... Ali can be any of these, perhaps changing roles from time to time. But from what we've seen so far, despite his eccentric nature, he may also serve as a voice of reason - and even a conscience. Both are exactly what Lawrence desperately needs in such a cold and isolating place.

Gay Authors - The Next Update and Survey Discussion

Would it be possible to have a daily schedule or timetable listing all story updates for the day? It would also be helpful to have a schedule for stories that many of us follow regularly - for example: Author X, Story Y, new chapters every Monday and Sunday. Of course, this would only apply to authors who follow a reasonably consistent posting schedule, not those who update irregularly. I think such a feature would make it much easier for readers to keep track of their favorite stories and upcoming chapter releases. -
The ease and skillfulness in Taggert's approach to the job suggest that he is not merely a capable cowboy, but quite possibly someone who was born and raised on a farm. We can only speculate about what, or who...compelled him to leave home. Yet his silence seems to speak volumes.

Thinking about your earlier warnings regarding Darien's mental state and exhaustion, I've noticed that he doesn't laugh at all - not even smile. The only hint of a smile was that predatory smirk on the roof of the Betlehems' citadel. Wylan is going to have some serious work ahead of him.

Well, I was expecting that contemporary story you promised, Gary, but instead it’s good old Western again… and I know that’s what most people enjoy. I’m not the biggest fan of the genre, but I’ll give the story a chance anyway. After all, it’s the plot and characters that matter most - and you’re a master at writing them.

OMG, what an overwhelming chapter... So, the w(b)itches are here, and the veil is compromised... I love the parallel with Avatar: The Last Airbender (my favorite cartoon): the four elements and Wylan being the "earth" counterpart, much like blind Toph Beifong. Now I'm curious... who represents air?

I agree. It does seem a bit surprising, especially since Charlie is the person closest to him and could have been a role model in that regard. But, as I mentioned before, we don't actually know much about their sibling relationship. Also, Nate seems to be more of an introvert and may have been trying to live up to his mother's expectations. If one son is gay, there could be an unspoken pressure on the other to provide the "traditional" family she might have envisioned...with a wife, children, and the conventional path in life. -

I was even more surprised by Neil's confession that he had been watching an online exercise video because he was attracted to the ripped guy in it. That suggests he was already bi-curious before coming to the concert. In fact, part of his motivation for attending may have been the possibility of meeting Alex, who is openly gay. This shows that Neil isn't one of those "gay just for you" characters; he was already in the process of exploring his sexuality and discovering himself. Still, it's interesting that he never discussed these thoughts or feelings with Charlie.- 20 comments
