Look from another angle if you will. Kitt is pretty humble and still reeling every single day with having to deal with the basics of survival. Yes he made a quick, harsh decision to try to save his soul. Perhaps he feels so indebted to his few new friends that he doesn't want to ask for to much. As in borrowing a phone to reach into the recent past. He's sensitive, I could see that being so. Still has not gotten past the heartache of, nor the fears induced by the betrayal shown him by his own parents. Even an outwardly "normal" type that has an overload of testosterone might take a hit from it. Minors aren't adults yet. At least he doesn't appear to be a child here, that's another subject entirely.

It's the extra tid-bits that differentiate a genres stories. So when your effort is to show us how we all differ by showing glimpses into the characters. I don't remember how this ended up... It's three years later, and I jumped in with both feet and this series is still being added to now. 🥃 Good job with the longevity that improves with each chapter! @Justin4Fun

Tick, tock Both Kitt and his pop are taking steps towards some kind of reconciliation. Tick, tock Think besides keeping shelter this looks like his first attempt to better himself! Tick, tock & I will keep coming back until these two impressive young men are together in Riverbend hopefully!

Slum lords are from every tax bracket, each form, etc. They share that same need for control and desire to inflict dis- harmony and pain just like all that lust for power! Speaking of lust? How powerful it is in a young man? Yea we all know. These two have the love already, how long or after how many short visits will that factor kick in?

Welcome @Walter231 Looks like you started out with a really good story. It's pulled me in, made me care about a few of the characters. Frustrated me, angered, also made me sigh with relief and warmth in my heart.

Seasons effecting them? Having lived in several medium sized cities (CLT, ATL, MCO) . Spent a little time in two huge ones, (BOS, MIA) know full moons do mean more crazies are out. You could read about it in the paper before the advent of 24/7 news. Moon is more close in different seasons so why not? Plausible theory, hopefully no psychotic breaks though!

It may be Mateo, he is trying. Kitt has been tough enough to survive that first week. Yea, he's had the occasional crutch that his new friends offered. But he is stuck emotionally, If he could be so determined in one aspect. Why not the other? Ya know how much that would help both of them. Just talking normally!
