There were still an estimated 30.8-42.9 million people living with HIV or AIDS at the end of 2016. 69% of HIV-positive people are in Sub-Saharan Africa, meaning that most of the people with HIV/AIDS live in a part of the world that is, very poor and has little access to the necessary treatment that HIV positive people in Europe, North America, and elsewhere take for granted.
He was also really awesome in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas as Deputy Fred. He was a great comedian and an awesome singer. Like so many gays in Hollywood of his day, the contempt he faced must have been horrendous.

Some days, I feel sad, and I know I have to keep fighting. This song is about perseverance. You can see it in the first verse and pre-chorus, that it's a song that touches on being depressed and fighting back and facing your demons. I love this band. I even went by the band's name on another forum for a while.
