  1. SAWYER rolled over, wincing at the pull in his lower back, and stared at the curtained window above his head. Late morning sunlight crept through the cracks, throwing patterns onto the sloped ceiling. He lifted his fingers to the sunbeam and groaned when the twinge in his neck became a spasm. Obviously, reconnecting with his past wasn‘t worth sleeping night after night in a thirty-year-old twin bed. One of his childhood obsessions had been Star Wars, and this room still bore the marks. Chapter 5

I wasn't aware there was something besides HEA. 😉 Kidding, of course. But no worries, the world is full enough with misery. You find anything like that here. It's explored more in depth later, but let's just say Marc has some... unresolved issues with rejection. Thanks for commenting, everyone!
  3. BDubs is Buffalo Wild Wings. Yum.
  4. MARC was still shaking off the lethargy of a restless sleep when the coffeepot made a burping sound, then began to hiss. Perched on a stool at the kitchen island, curled over his laptop, pretending to read, Marc glared at the insanely expensive and less-than-a-month-old machine. “Don‘t do it,” he rasped. “I‘m begging you.” The hissing trailed off, and the red light on the machine went dark. Water began to leak out across the countertop, first in a trickle, then in a gush. With a groan
  5. I think Asian Zing is one of the best flavors of wings at BDubs. 😉 Hey, someone tell the spell-correct that BDubs deserves REAL WORD status.

    Chapter 3

More of an issue than I would like, but sentiment has definitely shifted. Out of curiosity, how does it make you feel, reminiscing about something that could have turned out differently had it been more socially accepted at the time?

Oh, I love this comment. Firstly, thanks so much for the compliment. It means a lot. I could wax poetic on the subject, but the condensed version is I have personally felt these exact things. And as a bisexual, I have felt them for both men and women. My experience has been that the rush of infatuation can be a true powerhouse in terms of physical and emotional feedback. Of course, everyone is different, and this subject in particular is one in which we shouldn't measure ourselves against others. Thanks again.

Thanks for all the comments! As for how much longer they last... pleading the Fifth! ☺️
  9. “SO THERE I was, half out of my clothes, when her kid walks in, whining about a nightmare. He took one look at me draped all over his mommy and started screaming.” In typical dramatic fashion, Rick grabbed handfuls of his thick black hair and groaned. “It was awful. Jennifer made me leave without so much as a good-night kiss.” Marc cringed and took a sip of his beer. Wednesday nights out with his team never failed to entertain. If Rick‘s romantic escapades could be classified as entertainme

    Chapter 3

Sexuality was a complete non-issue in my household from my very earliest memory. It was when I entered the greater world -- school and such -- that I realized not everyone felt the same way. It was a small town. The vitriol could be nauseating. I can honestly say I'm not sure I would've had the courage.

    Chapter 3

Man, I was having a good day until I got online this afternoon and saw Raquel Welch died. Now I'm super sad. Nobody could rock a white bikini like she could. My first girl crush. 😭 Poor Marc. He does make you want to slap him, though. No argument there.
  14. A RAY of sunlight burst through the gray clouds, sliced through the window of Marc‘s office, and fell across his hand. Startled from his reverie, he watched the beam creep across the desk, glowing bright for a moment and warming his skin before it faded, extinguished by the stubborn clouds. He‘d been daydreaming again, a frivolous habit that had been plaguing him for a couple of weeks. Even Aunt May had noticed, which meant his distraction must‘ve reached epic proportions. She‘d delighted i

Thank you all very much for your thoughts and comments.
  17. MARC pulled up in front of Sawyer‘s house at exactly at five o‘clock, then sat in his truck while he pulled his thoughts together. He took deep breaths and rubbed his damp palms over his jeans. Calling to cancel had crossed his mind more than once that afternoon. He didn‘t mind admitting the truth to himself. He was terrified. Woefully unprepared didn‘t even begin to describe his experience in this situation, plus he‘d been at a loss as to what to bring for his host. But then a perfec

    Chapter 1

Glad to hear you are enjoying it! These kinds of things exist and are a big deal where I live. My first estate sale was in auction format. I was there to bid on the property, but I'll never forget the person who paid $10 for a "mystery" box of items. Pretty sure one of those things was an open box of Kleenex. There may have even been a fight over it. Also, "storage unit suction" is my new favorite phrase. Thank you! 😊
  19. Marc Wynn has accompanied his beloved aunt to estate sales for years, but he's never found anything he couldn't live without-until he meets Sawyer Calhoun. Sawyer wastes no time in revealing his romantic interest in Marc, but their promising first evening ends badly with Sawyer as adamant about broadcasting his sexuality as Marc is about hiding his. But when Sawyer hires Marc to restore his grandfather's house, their intense attraction grows into an emotional connection neither can resist. During the renovations, surprises come to light, and Sawyer must face his past when a tragedy threatens Marc's livelihood.
  20. I've been married 28 years. Every day is Valentine's Day. That's what can happen after a few decades with your soulmate.

    Chapter 20

I can't thank you all enough for such wonderful and supportive praise. Thank YOU for coming along with me on this journey. That I am able to give readers some pleasure and escape is all I ever hope for when I set out to bring a story to the page. 🥰
  24. Another great post. This part: Write your story without validation. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t listen to your fanbase, I’m saying that it’s important to understand when their comments (or lack thereof) is more about what they want instead of what you need to make this the best story that you can. The story you started with, and satisfying the ambition you had for it before you began to doubt yourself. This is the primary reason why, these days, I don't post a story/book unless it's 100% complete, beta'd and edited. I found that, even if I didn't intend for it to happen, even if I consciously fought against it, my original vision could become skewed by feedback -- whether that was positive or negative. Ultimately, the story changed from what I intended it to be. Whether the end result became "better" or "worse" wasn't really the point. The story was no longer solely my creation. Possibly -- probably -- some authors like that. Even thrive on it. I just never did. Which reiterates how individual each writer's journey is and why posts like the one above are so helpful. Perspective is all. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
  25. In the lifetime before this one, Jase had ridden plenty of Greyhound buses. Mostly to and from college, a numbing eight-hour drive that stopped in half a dozen towns between Virginia Tech and his childhood home in Maryland. He’d gone to VT on an engineering scholarship, which didn’t treat him as well as a football scholarship would have, but then he’d always been a crappy football player and a good student with a head for numbers. The son of a Metro station attendant took what he could get.
