  1. While it may not be the intention of the author, there are many who would use those types of stories to 'relieve' their desires. I have to admit, I'm young and sometimes I get freaked out by the way some stories of teens written by adults come across. And there's when they overuse 'dude' to the point where I just can't go on reading . I guess my point is, it is there, and one has to look for stories without that 'predatorial' edge. Or when the boys are too young, then it's just scary. I watch a lot of Law & Order SVU (mostly for Chris Meloni ), and there are a lot fo pedophiles on that show, so I can sense when the story has reached that point. Most other stories, not all though, are honest stories of romance that focus on emotional connections rather than living out fantasies.
  2. In terms of age difference, I'll be hinest. I wouldn't be a big deal if he were 16. Even though the age of consent in Utah is 18, it's 16 in so many other states, so morally, who's to say who's right. But 15 (technically), is a bit young for him to already be "tired" of being a virgin. And if he's seeing a guy, why you? I see much drama and awkwardness in the future.
  3. Absolutely I think that might have been too easy) Have at it, give us a quote.
  4. Happy Birthday! (I'm getting anxious, mines in April)
  5. Sorry, I know it's been too long. Here's my quote: "It's better to help people than garden gnomes." enjoy
  6. Maybe a telethon to send Myr to jamaica. I think my dad went there once and got chased by a goat, hm.... Maybe just a trip on the Queen Mary 2
  7. Arthur I love that line.
  8. Wow, I don't think this thread could get any more coy. Two more winks and an implicit remark, we'll have "Dangerous Liasons"
  9. true, and then there's the situation where the story is good, but you don't like the way the character looks. That's partly why I like some leewway in terms of physical appearance, people have their own tastes.
  10. Yeah, I had to walk the dog and came to the revelation that snow is best enjoyed from indoors
  11. I'm just sitting here right now in my bed, unable to sleep, just watching the snow come down. After a failed attempt at rest, I just finally got out my laptop and decided to take it as an opportunity to write some more. Here we're getting insane amounts of snow and the only light is coming from the soft glow it relfects into my bedroom, it's beautiful. I guess I just felt like sharing
  12. I don't believe that most stories have the writer's true voice in them, but those are the ones that really get through. The others just feel too formulaic to register with me.
  13. I just finally got a chance to spend $75 in Sam Goody gift cards from Christmas and thought fondly of this thread. I got Interpol, PJ Harvey, the Strokes, Scissor Sisters, and the new Lewis Black CD. I'm importing them right now.
  14. I'm pretty new here, but Happy Birthday nonetheless!
  15. I am just as new to this as you. Before I joined GA I posted Chapters 1 and 2 of Underworld and Chapter 1 of Living the High Life on Nifty. Of all of those, after about a month, I recieved one positive feedback email (grand total of about seven words I think) to Living the High Life. Leaving out that the story was posted in the Bisexual Section by mistake (apparently the sexless first chapter was too "ambiguous" ), I loved that comment and just those few words of encouragement fueled me to no end. I guess that hang in there is the point to this trilling tale. That and that I understand your craving for feedback (I'm still waiting for some on Underworld). PS. I read most of your story (I skipped some parts, I have a weak stomach) and I loved it.
  16. For me music only intensifies emotion. Which actually works for me on bad days. If I listen to a sad or angry song then I'm so deep in depression or rage that I can deal with it. Strange, is it not?
  17. I'm against character pics, I don't want to tell the reader what to see. Brief descriptions allow the reader to form their own mental picture, an image they relate to. It's easier to keep the character in mind when reading rather than trying to rememebr a specific image. I don't know if anyone will get what I mean by that.
  18. Wow, a conspiracy. As anti-climactic as it may seem, at least it ended with a bang.
  19. And the search continues...
  20. It's interesting that that is your reaction because I've never thought so. In my day to day life, easily half of the gays I run in to are not white (excluding Six Feet Under, my favortie show on earth). Media portrayal could be a different matter, but come on, it's the media. They'll try to separate religion and homosexuality in their protrayal so as to avoid offending anyone, and as you say the black community is generally quite religious. Besides, of course the blonde/blues are going to be more involved in the gay community because they don't have another minority to fall back on. On another note, your post prompted me to check my "gay glossary" and I found a couple of interesting demographics pertaining to your point. 1) SGL (Same Gender Loving)= Some black homosexuals describe themselves as SGL to claim an identity while keeping distance from the white gay community. 2) Down Low= supposedly straight black men who have sex with other men, but date women and remain firmly in the closet.
  21. Very kind of you, but I think I have one. Her name is Valentina and it's mor eof a very love-hate friendship, but the dynamic greatly resembles that of a nemesis.
  22. Ooh, I love intrigue. Can't wait to hear who it could be. Now I want a nemesis
  23. That's hilarious, but it just reads differently than a flame. Rather than simply offensive remarks or insults, he seems to place both of you in some sort of competition, the way he named himself an opposite color and his choice of the word nemesis. He claims to be a writer as well, maybe you should ask him for a sample of his work. Enemies can be surprisingly fun, it could be worth it to see if he takes this anywhere. Also ask him about what "abuse" he accuses you of. Of course, that's just how I would handle it, this character piques my curiosity.
  24. Oh God, wow, the first...**thinking back** Ah, Yes! It was something I stumbled upon when I was about 13 on some random, long since abandoned blog, I remember it was called "Jason and Me" but I forget the name of the site. It was sexless but extremely romantic. It made me feel lonely after reading about the sort of connection that two people can share, but it was a happy sort of lonely. If that makes sense. Anyway, after becoming an enthusiast and finding a few more stories on a few more independent sites I discovered Nifty, which blew my mind, even if you do have to dig through a lot of low-grade erotica to find the good stuff. Comicality came in somewhere after Nifty which in turn led my to GA in general.
  25. I like the ones that begin with the closeted angst and then have the momentous coming out. It maintains the suspense and appeals to out teens who've gone through the same thing. Of course, I'm not one to talk on the subject
