  1. Actually, this is a better Ricky Nelson picture of how I visualized JP when he was younger: I'm not sure if Tab Hunter really works for Stef. I think Tab's face is too broad.

    Chapter 7

September 11, 2002 New York Will I watched my father making the moves on this hot blond twink, and smiled at how impressive he was. “He learned pretty fucking fast,” I said to Chris Mendoza. “No shit, and he snagged that dude,” he said. “Who is he?” Chris shrugged. “Some dude I’ve been working the past couple of times I’ve been here.” “Dad cock blocked you?” I teased. “Something like that,” he said, grinning at me.
  3. I think you're right about "this generation" with the exception of Will. He stepped in to help Pat out, and he's also gotten pretty close (smirk) to Pedro. He also got pretty emotional when he moved to Palo Alto and left Rosa behind.
  4. Alright, I have bad news, and good news. The bad news is that I don't have the next chapter of Valiant ready to publish. The good news is that the first draft is done, and it's gone into the editing process, so at least you know it's in the works.
  5. Sorry...no Zach until Chapter 8 :worship:

    Chapter 6

I'm glad you liked the tutorial. I thought it was pretty funny that Brad ended up with a group of players there to guide him through his club virginity.

    Chapter 6

Thanks so much. This really was a 'feel good' chapter. It's funny, I responded to one of the reviews and used that exact term (strip tease), and here I scroll down a few reviews and you used it too! With Wade's nickname and how he reacts to it, we're seeing some of the same grumpiness that JP developed when he got older. I suspect Wade will also unwittingly become the butt of Riley's jokes at some point in the future. :-)

    Chapter 6

Thanks Maarten! I'm so glad you liked the chapter. Most people seem to have interpreted JJ's actions in bringing Rosa to Boston as being sweet and caring. I think JJ definitely does care about Rosa, but I think his prime motive was less charitable. I think he wanted someone he could rely on to take care of his food needs, so he solved the problem. That's why he wasn't all that into Wade and Matt's comments about her being a nurturing person. In JJ's mind, she's a very important servant, but she's still a servant.

    Why thank you!

    Chapter 6

Thanks Gary! I think one of my favorite lines in this series was from Flux, when Will looked at Wade and Brad and told them that the drama wasn't always caused by Matt and Robbie...that they were responsible for it too. I think that's the point that Brad has missed. I think he's just conveniently blamed all of that on Robbie, but that's not really fair. When he has his next serious relationship, he may find out there's a lot of drama with that one too. I wonder if he'll be self-aware enough to decide that some of that is his fault.

    Chapter 6

Your observations about how JJ used to handle this (bitch and threaten) as opposed to how he conducts himself now (solves his problem) is really pretty striking, and a sign that he's maturing.

    Chapter 6

Thank you for the nice review. I think that the evolution that Brad has undergone to get over Robbie's loss was pretty much exactly how Robbie would have wanted him to handle things. The fact that he was so explicit to Brad with his instructions shows how well he really knew Brad. The only thing that was off was Robbie's time frame, but he was a bit too optimistic.

    Chapter 6

I think we've spent enough maudlin moments on 9-11. Every time I type "Princess" as Wade's nickname, I crack up. I can totally see him being unhappy with it, but he really can't do much about it unless he wants to make a scene. And the only time Wade makes a scene is when he's fighting with Matt.

    Chapter 6

English Country Dancing...I've done that before, and in fact, I did it at Stanford. Go figure. I don't see Dustin as a relationship kind of guy for Brad...he's more like a booty call. :-)

    Chapter 6

It's like a character strip tease! LOL.

    Chapter 6

Thanks! It seemed like a pretty good approach. For all his savvy, Brad can sometimes be relatively naive when it comes to being set up in social situations.

    Chapter 6

I got that idea by pondering what it would be like, after years of being a couple, to suddenly emerge onto the dating scene. I suspect it would be very strange...at least in the beginning.

    Chapter 5

Hope work calms down. It does seem the Brad is damned to ride the emotional roller coaster of life...although much of it he brings on himself.

    Chapter 6

September 9, 2002 Boston Wade I sat in the kitchen, eating my second bowl of cereal, when JJ came walking in, looking remarkably chipper for the morning. “Morning,” he said. “Morning,” I responded, as did Matt. “Dude, cereal’s about all we have, unless you want to cook,” Matt said to JJ apologetically. “I thought you were going to hire a cook,” I said to Matt, giving him shit. “I will. It’s at the top of my list to do next week,” he said.
  20. I disagree. JJ can't come from a family that wealthy, powerful, and well-known and then pretend he's not one of them. If nothing else, the fact that Stef is (considered to be) his grandfather will make that impossible. I think JJ will be under some pressure, however, to assert his own heterosexuality to avoid being lumped in with his other gay relatives.
  21. I think the family's power, wealth, and prestige would offset their gayness, especially in Brad's case. It's amazing how that can overcome homophobia. Your second point, that Brad's love comes with a hefty price tag, is probably a more realistic reason for JJ to keep some distance from Brad.

    Chapter 5

That's pretty funny. Most people are worried about just the opposite. Still, I can see JJ manipulating Alex.

    Chapter 5

I think you're being a little hard on Will, since he's a good surfer, and an excellent student. That being said, it is nice to see that JJ acknowledges his strengths and weaknesses.

    Chapter 21

One can only wonder what Lady Elgin will think. She hasn't shown the level of honor that would lead one to believe she actually may change her attitude.

    Chapter 21

I'm not sure that Calvert was ever really below the second tier in Granger's love pyramid. I think he has grounds to be seriously vexed with Calvert. Even though Calvert wanted a monogamous relationship, he settled for the situation with George, and proclaimed his undying love for him. When he found something better, he dropped George like a hot potato. If I were George, I think I would feel, deep down, much as Caroline did. I'd feel like I nurtured Calvert's career along, probably using substantial political capital to do so, only to be discarded after George's usefulness was less important (once Calvert made post). And I'd be even more pissed off at Gatling, based on all George had done for him in the past.
