    Chapter 99

Or you could just wait for the final chapter. ;-)

    Chapter 99

January 1, 2001 Escorial, CA Will I sat down at my desk and flipped on my computer, waiting for it to boot up so I could check my e-mail. I was enjoying some solitude after a long day of dealing with people. Not that it had been unpleasant. I’d had a good visit with my mother, and a great dinner, where Matt and Wade all but got engaged. Still, sometimes it was nice to just enjoy some quiet time, and some peace. The phone rang, blasting my period of tranquility all to hell. It wa
  3. The next chapter of Paternity will probably post later tonight, in time for St. Patrick's Day. Expect it around 12-12:30 CST.

    Chapter 98

It's pretty cool when readers tell me how events in a story mirror their own, at least in some way. Part of the challenge of writing a saga like this, where it is soap opera-esque in it's nature, is to keep things as real as possible. It's nice when that works out.
  5. I like this version better: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=t4LWIP7SAjY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dt4LWIP7SAjY
  6. I'm actually working on it. I'll keep you posted
  7. An N'Sync song. How appropriate!

    Chapter 98

I think that's a good observation about Matt and Robbie. Matt gets there faster. I suspect that Wade ultimately will tell Will about his father, but as you noted, it's not something Wade's going to talk about with many people. I see him locking this away pretty deeply. He's probably already somewhat annoyed that Brad, Robbie, and Stef know. I think the commitment at the end works because of their stage in life, and in their relationship. The latter part of junior year and senior year are prime time for couples to think about each other more seriously.

    Chapter 98

I can see that Brad and Robbie would ask Wade. It's understandable that they'd be looking at anything to try and help their son recover. I think it speaks to Wade's smooth classiness that he was able to explain why he couldn't do that, in terms that they understood.

    Chapter 98

I didn't see that theme in this story, so much as in the whole series, that theme of families being formed both from blood relatives and from close bonds.

    Chapter 98

I'm glad you liked it (both the chapter and the story). I remembered that Matt had been to Jackie's, but I don't think that Wade had gone there before.

    Chapter 98

We get to 100 chapters. Gay marriage became legal in the Netherlands in 2001, so it's just around the corner. Then again, these guys aren't Dutch. I can't have all the characters hanging around all of the time. Frank and Isidore are hanging around on my bookshelf, and I pull them down and use them when I need them. :-)

    Chapter 98

This does wrap things up with Matt and Wade, and I think it does it in a pretty comprehensive way . For now.

    Chapter 98

Poor Wade: I think that is meant to be his life's challenge. Finding balance. I see him as a guy who wants to do so many things, and he's gotten himself hyper-organized, but there still isn't enough time.

    Chapter 98

I honestly don't know if that's true or not, because I haven't thought that far ahead. I can see major challenges for the two of them, though, when they graduate. Especially if they go to different places for work/school.

Why thank you! Glad I'm good at sandwiching. :-)

    Chapter 98

I love happy endings. I think you're right about Wade and JJ. I just don't see them connecting at a deep level, but I think they can get to a point where they like each other.

    Chapter 98

They do kind of grow on you, these CAP people, don't they? Wade's a very generous person, but he's conflicted where JJ is concerned, because his generous spirit is running into his core values.

    Chapter 98

I'm so glad you liked it! I think that once Wade figured out that Matt and Robbie kind of worked the same way, handling Robbie was easy for him.
  20. Chapter 98 is our last chapter where Wade is the narrator. There are two more chapters left after this (99 and 100), both narrated by Will.

    Chapter 98

December 31, 2000 Escorial, CA Wade Matt and I sat out on the patio relaxing, enjoying a brief moment of calm before we left to go to the airport. We were flying down to LA with Tiffany to go to some big party that Cody had invited us to. I love the social scene, and I love a good party, but at this point in time, I would have been happy to just stay here and have a quiet New Year’s celebration. Of course, I had to then mercilessly assault my own psyche, trying to d

    Chapter 97

My vision for Will as a character is that he's the kind of guy who has a very narrow cadre of close friends, and lots of acquaintances. I think that works with his personality, in that he needs to really trust someone to let them get close, and it's also strengthened by his wealth. He always has that worry that someone likes him just for his money.
  24. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 97

I don't see think Will is looking for a boyfriend right now. They come with too many obligations. :-) I'm not sure who will narrate the next story. I'm still thinking about that.

    Chapter 97

I love lesbians. They don't scare me. :-) I said this in my group: I think that the same things that make WIll obnoxious now will ultimately make him an amazing man when he matures. That process isn't always pretty.
