  1. I love that Nelly song. Awesome!

    Chapter 1

If you're going to be the third wheel in a relationship, you better have a really good feel for that relationship. Will was operating by his own norms, and by that definition, he was fine. Problem is, Erik wasn't.

    Chapter 1

That's so true about Will and the water. He's gotten through school, he has summer with beautiful weather, and he's probably jonesing for some good waves.

    Chapter 1

I think Will is definitely his own person, but he's trying to understand boundaries. He's questioning societal rules/roles, and coming up with his own interpretations.
  5. I'm pondering the other narrator(s), and we definitely have to have them when we get to 9-11, but I think Will can get us through summer, or at least part of it. With him being out of school, it makes it possible for him to be at critical places and scenes in a pretty natural way. Gives me some time to think things through.

    Chapter 1

I'm not sure about the narrators yet. I'll rant about that in the forums. :-)

    Chapter 1

I'm glad you're happy CAP is back. I think that Will was so surprised by Erik, and Erik is so freaking big, Will decided that a good defense was his only option. Besides, he had to know that help would arrive soon.

    Chapter 1

Will is grappling with how to handle things like this, so he's lined up the philosophical and ethical arguments and made a decision. Then again, he clearly is starting to see things a little more differently since he broke up with Kyle. Another learning moment for Will.

    Chapter 1

June 13, 2001 “Catch me if you can,” Wade said playfully as he slapped his riding crop on Gunpowder’s flank, causing the stallion to break into a canter, then a fast gallop. I didn’t need to urge my own horse on. Charger was competitive, almost as competitive as my brother JJ, so as soon as Gunpowder cut loose, he was right with him. It would have taken a major effort on my part to restrain him, assuming that was my wish, which it wasn’t. The horses tore across our land, th

    9.11

9.11 is the thirteenth story in the CAP Saga. The story takes place in 2001, and will ultimately encompass the horrible events that happened on 9-11-01. Many of the characters in this story were introduced in “Chronicles of an Academic Predator,” “1968,” “The Land Whore,” “Be Rad,” “Man in Motion,” “A Summer Love,” “If It Fits,” “Bloodlines,” “The Box,” "Millennium," "Poor Man's Son," and "Paternity."

    Chapter 37

I'm so glad you enjoy the story! You're right, of course, about the wealth these men will have and the scams that could be waiting for them. Lord Cochrane had some real problems with that.
  12. I started a thread on the new story: 9.11.
  13. The next story in the CAP series, 9.11, should be ready for launch soon. The first few chapter have been written and have gone through the first round of editing. The story will start in the summer of 2001. I'm going to start out with Will narrating, but I'll bring more people in as we go on, and as we get closer to the attacks of 9-11-01. I haven't decided exactly how I'm going to do that, but I'll figure it out.

    Chapter 37

I agree. I think Granger will take the deal. CAP = soon
  15. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 37

Glad you liked it. Actually, taking the Viceroy's deal would be classic Granger: A gentlemen's solution.
  16. You raise an issue that would probably weigh on the Spaniards. Simple pirates probably would have a battle to take a galleon, because they're quite stout, with reasonable armaments, but a well-armed privateer may be able to do it.

    Chapter 37

I try to keep you guessing. :-)
  18. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 37

Thanks. I'll do my best, but the chapter flow slowly.
  19. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 37

Good questions. I think that the first time the issue was raised, it was hypothetical. (By Ambassador del Campo, in "St. Vincent", Chapter 2)
  20. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 37

That will probably weigh on Granger's mind...how such a deal could be structured so the government doesn't take all his money and the Viceroy doesn't get embarrassed.

    Chapter 36

    How about today?
  22. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 36

You're welcome. Posting is slow, because this story takes longer to write.

    Chapter 36

Well, a captured galleon on the return voyage would mostly be valuable because of the silver on board, and that is easily transferred to either or both frigates.
  24. Mark Arbour

    Chapter 36

I think he understands it, he just doesn't like it.
