  1. Or maybe both. Or maybe they're connected. Sorry about the cliffhanger here. I had a dilemma, in that if I cut off the action with the brig and put it in Chapter 26, Chapter 25 would have been too short. So that's why we have it there, not through any sadistic pleasure I may have gotten by doing that. I'm not CJ, after all.

    Chapter 25

LOL. That was one of the things I had to train myself to do, to remember that back in those days, they had a much less sophisticated view of how one got diseases and the like.

    Chapter 25

And that is indeed the interesting part of this. The brig was no match for Bacchante, so clearly whoever was trying to escape was desperate.

    Chapter 25

You're probably wondering WTF this guy is doing chained and beaten, just like Granger is.

    You're welcome!

    Chapter 24

Well, if things were easy, it would be boring. :-)

    Chapter 25

September, 1797 “Captain, I understand you are to sail for England on the morning tide, the day after tomorrow,” Granger said. The merchant skipper eyed him warily, wondering what this powerful peer wanted. It wasn’t every day that a Viscount invited a man like Captain Murdoch to dinner. Murdoch almost moaned at his distended stomach, stuffed full of some of the best food he’d ever tasted. If he had bothered to fantasize about what it would be like to dine with

    Chapter 73

I think that Elizabeth has her hands full right now. I would suspect that those who have reason to fear her, like Brad, would stay well away from her as she implodes. If it looks to be too bad, they'll jump in behind the scenes to help her out.

    Chapter 73

I wonder if Wade would really be hounded. I've seen kids at college richer than that, and they were able to have relatively normal experiences. They weren't mobbed, and they didn't have security. There were certainly sycophants around, though.

    Chapter 73

I'm glad you're looking forward to Will. We have some time to spend with him.
  12. I'm not all that worried about length (at least in this context ). I'm just going to write the story until I'm done.
  13. Granger won't make Commodore for years.

    Chapter 73

Brad's taken out some penny-ante players (Carson and Brian), but Elizabeth Danfield would be formidable, even in her semi-castrated state. The last thing he would want is a battle with her. I think pretty much everyone will try to stay off her radar. I think she'll do exactly that: go into rehab and vanish, waiting for all the scandals and repercussions to her actions to blow over. Then she'll re-emerge, pretending to be an entirely reformed person. No one who knows her will believe it.

    Chapter 73

You make an interesting observation (well, you made a few, but I'll focus on one of them). I think that Matt and Wade are different in appearance. When I visualize them, I see Matt with a raw, masculine, beauty, and I see his natural flirtatious charisma just turbo charging those looks, making him pretty irresistible. WIth Wade, I think he's just as hot, but maybe not as attractive. I visualize his features as being more refined, with sharper cheekbones and a sharper nose, but I think his reserved manner tends to make him less attractive.

    Chapter 73

Thanks for the compliments! I think you're right, and that is probably the key reason why Elizabeth will survive this crisis, albeit probably with her wings clipped. She just has too many things on too many people for them to let her go down in flames. If you think about it, she's a lot more skilled at spinning a web than Alexandra was.

    Chapter 73

I really hate it when people don't take responsibility for their fuckups, and I think Elizabeth is just that kind of person. She'll claim a malady as an excuse, when in fact she's just a horrible person.

    Chapter 73

I think that Wade wasn't really thinking about Carl. I mean, he's got a bit on his mind right now, so that idiot probably isn't even on his radar screen.

    Chapter 73

You can't have one constant adrenaline rush. :-) Everyone has to breathe. I think it's indicative of how good Wade and Matt are that they can handle something like that with a smile, instead of an argument.

You think some casitas on the grounds would be appropriate? Not a bad idea.

    Chapter 73

November 27, 2000 Palo Alto, CA Wade After the judge left the courtroom, there was a moment of silence, as we all contemplated what had happened. I pulled myself out of my own fog and strode over to Nana. “Congratulations. You have your life back.” “I’m free,” she said. “What will I do now?” “I think you were planning to go shopping,” I teased. “It’s good to see you looking so healthy,” my mother said, interrupting our conversation. “And that, Elizabeth, i

You realize that Robbie may very well enjoy having the foot in his ass, don't you? :-) Thanks for all the nice things you said. They made me smile!
  23. I couldn't resist. I'm guessing Tim laughed too. He has a good sense of humor.

Thanks. We actually have one more Wade chapter, then several with Will.

    Chapter 72

A true Southern gentleman. I can see that. Evidently Nana could too. What's interesting is that she's been out of it for four years, so she would have had to have come to that conclusion about Wade when he was still in high school.
