  1. Arrogance is hot. Lucky for you.
  2. I get what you're saying, but it sounds like everything turned out alright, no? Enjoy the Czechs!
  3. I have to totally agree with you on the bold section. It really should have been a more drawn out process. I think that I'll allow myself some poetic license here, and fall back on the fear that she was possibly a danger to herself. There are a lot of emotional cripples running corporations, period. Those two traits (good with family, good at business) don't seem to be highly correlated.

    Chapter 77

All couples fight and argue. Brad and Robbie just do it more dramatically.

    Chapter 77

I use the Myers-Briggs survey extensively with people when I'm trying to get them to understand themselves. Like you, I find the distribution of scores and jobs fascinating. I really enjoyed this review, and your insight. I think that the action-reaction aspect of relationships is often overlooked.

    Chapter 77

Very well put. This part really resonated with me: My point is, that Will's insight resulted in part because he separated himself from his family emotionally and was able to attain a vantage point where he could rationally look at what was going on and felt a responsibility.

    Chapter 77

Well, tropical Christmas drinks are a bit ironic, and could possibly temper one's interpretations of any given chapter. :-) Darius has been completely absorbed in his relationship with Ella, and he's pretty much let everything else pass by him unnoticed. What's really happening, for him, is that he's re-emerging as a presence in the family. Darius woke up.

    Chapter 77

I think you're right: Robbie thinks that he's doing what's best for Jeanine. He's really trying to keep her life as similar to how it was before her breakdown. I think his motives are in the right place, but he forgot to bring his brain to the meeting. Good point on my omission to bring the Graves family into the mix. We'll see if that can't happen in the future.

    Chapter 77

You know, I really can see JJ's point in this thing. All these people are banning together to decide that the most important relationship in his life has to be ended (I think he'd see it with that finality). But the key to this thing, as you noted, was the relative maturity levels of the three sons.
  10. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAN!!!!

    Chapter 77

December 3, 2000 Escorial, CA Will I’d sent my lawyer an e-mail to tell him about my mother’s care meeting, and he’d asked me if I wanted him to attend. I told him not to come. I figured that if he were there, it would just inflame Robbie even more, since he was undoubtedly pissed off at me for suing him in the first place. Ironically enough, my big decision this morning was what to wear. I didn’t want to look all formal, like I was going to a hearing, but I didn’t want to look s
  12. A 14 year old midshipman with Will's pedigree would probably be on a par with Granger, since here in the US we value money over bloodlines. He'd get ahead even if he was an asshole. The system of preferment in the Royal Navy was all-encompassing. To be honest, I think that's my fault, because while I've covered a lot of ground with Odyssey, it hasn't been quite as exciting as some of the sections in other stories. I feel confident it will have those moments in the future. And just for clarification, I'm finishing up grading now. The only reason there are Paternity chapters posting is because the writing bug bit me for that story and I got ahead of myself. Gives the edit and review process time.

    Chapter 25

And just like that cliff, it's not a huge one. :-) I'm working my way through some busy times, but I'll do my best to get a chapter out soon.

    Chapter 76

I'm glad you liked that. It struck me that we've never really had a key Jewish character. I'm not sure if Noah will evolve into one, but I do think he has potential.

    Chapter 76

Thanks for the congrats! I'm not sure about any of your hypotheses. I'm just writing it as it flows.

    Chapter 76

Interesting point: the hard-to-get strategy may work on Will. I can see that.

    Chapter 76

Two thoughts on this: The first is that we really don't know Noah all that well. He seems like a good guy, but is he? And second, I think that Will is a little nervous about relationships. He didn't do all that well with them before (Drew, John, Berto, and possibly Tony)

    Chapter 76

I think Will is able to care about his mother now that she's not a threat to him. If he's worried about her pulling out that power card, he can't really relax enough to let himself give a shit about him.

    Chapter 76

It makes sense that Claire's daughter would be her own person, especially since John appears to be more conventional. That may change as he gets older. You never know.
  20. Inspiration takes different forms.
  21. I'm not sure that JP is Bohemian Grove material. That's probably a little too Republican for him. I can see Jack being involved, though, primarily through his own family connections.

    Chapter 76

mm, so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope this doesn't jar some unpleasant memories. I think that depression in general is still a topic that gets swept under the rug with disdain. It shouldn't.

    Chapter 76

Thanks. Those were pretty exciting points to cross. I think that Will needs someone who is a little less fortunate to help him ground himself. Maybe Noah can be that guy.

    Chapter 76

He needs an interesting guy at Menlo. I'm not sure if Noah is a love interest, or just a buddy, but he's different and he's interesting.

    Chapter 76

You are, of course, a few steps ahead of me. I think Noah's mom will be less pleased with Will's largesse. :-) For Will, it's not being flashy, it's just doing something nice for a friend. The concept of offending someone with a gift is probably not even on his radar screen.
