Thanks for coming out of the shadows! I think you just catapulted yourself into one of Jeremy's favorite people with your comment about JJ. I think it's inevitable that he plays a big role in upcoming stories, unless Sharon has her way and he gets hit by the bus. And it backs up and runs over him again. ;-)
You know, it has to be a kind of hard for Will to make a new friend, especially a friend like Ryan, who's smoking hot. There's bound to be some latent sexual tension there, and until it's addressed, one way or the other, it's going to be tough for them to have an easy friendship.
Will's grown up on movies, so he's more jaded than that. Ryan has his own reasons for being a little calmer about it. Jackass: I'll have to remember to work that in.
Breathing space, yes, and it's important for the future of the story. Remember, I have a big float trip to write about.
I'm with you on Ryan's mom, without the leathery skin. This isn't the east coast. *ducks*
Almost inevitable? Silly boy. Then it probably won't happen.

“I’ll never figure this shit out,” Grafton groaned as he tried to figure out what the underlying symbolism was to one of the witches’ scenes in Macbeth.
“Shakespeare sucks,” I said. I didn’t like his stuff, but I would have said it anyway, because that’s what you were supposed to say. “Bring your books with you. We can work on it tonight. You still coming over?”
“You want to do homework on a Friday night? Dude, that’s like the dorkie
I'm glad you kept at it! A tip: Don't get too hung up on the nautical terms. They're there to enhance the story if you get them, but if you don't, just gloss right over them.
Thanks for the feedback! What I've tried to do with this story is to show a maturing George Granger. Hopefully, if you go back to The Gunroom and then fast forward to now, you can see what a huge change we've seen in George. I expect that to be reflected in his relationships.
I've been working on the next few chapters, so hopefully I'll have something else out in the near future. My plan is to have this story finished up some time in January.
I thought the 12 days of Christmas came BEFORE Christmas? But then again, why would an atheist like me know that. Regardless, no chance of that. I'm not writing that fast. I'll try to post chapter 8 soon though!
You picked up on something that's really been true of Wade since the beginning: he tends to lose his calm, analytical self when dealing with Matt. Matt blows all of his controls out of the water.
With posts like this one, people are really going to start hating you.

I had just finished getting all of my stuff together when I heard Matt’s voice. “You leaving?”
“I’m sorry I woke you up,” I said coldly. I’d slept in a guest room because I just couldn’t stand to be that close to him right now. Unfortunately, all of my stuff was in our room, so I’d had to come in here to get it all together. I’d tried really hard to be quiet, because I had no desire to talk to him, but the side effe
