  1. I will slow down my reviews to 1 per week on Monday going forward: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36336078-call-me-by-your-name It’s a eulogy chronicling the relationship of Elio, a 17-year-old boy with homosexual urges, and Oliver, a 24-year-old scholar and university professor. Let me start off making a disclaimer, I know the story would not be acceptable on this site and many other websites, because the two males in question are not of the same age group and technically dependi

    Reverberations

Hope should be kept close next to love, the future is what we make it.
  3. https://www.goodreads.com/series/166060-wake-up-married Leta Blake is one of my favorite gay fiction writers, she is what I ideally want to be more like as a writer in my own right: thought-provoking, compassionate, deeply immersed in human condition, and skillful in plot development. She isn’t a perfect writer, but despite her flaws in story flow at times, her overall story and characters carries the narrative. There may be better writers out there, better creative fiction, but a well-roun
  4. Yes, TJ Klune is very imaginative as an author with very rich trove of fun characters and situations.
  5. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12393029-clear-water An old 2012 short 14-chapter 230 page book about a gay 23-year-old rich boy, Patrick Cleary, with severe ADHD, an abusive boyfriend named Cal, and a nickname of “Trix” meeting an older 36-year-old bisexual biological researcher, Wesley Keenan, with a serious demeanor, kind heart, and the nickname of “Whiskey”, readers should expect a quirky romantic story about a young man who has stopped believing in himself and an older man, who is
  6. Ah Mama, the golden hearted owner of a gay brothel He was a minor character in Book 1, but you are right, it was a funny scene. I was focused on the naked six-inch fairy who wanted Sam due to his size and Kevin's antics with sheep. I didn't even mention the Corn people or their magical corn roofies (Never eat maize from a cult ) There's a lot in TJ Klune's book, I just wanted to give a small taste to get people interested.
  7. Yes, it's really wild and fun. It can come off very strong, not just homoerotic or sexual, like full on sass-fests with a drag queen level, at times. I like TJ's imagination though, he comes across as a genuine creative gay author, completely unique.
  8. Not yet, but I might explore it. I hope you like this book and if you do, the series might be worth a read
  9. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24468673-the-lightning-struck-heart One word to describe this story: “Gay” 😊 Seriously, before reading this book, gay fantasy was just fantasy with fun twists on genre stories. TJ Klune has crafted a fun comedy-fantasy, which took my breath away at how far his imagination took him, re-imagining classic western tropes of wizards, knights, princes, kingdoms, magical creatures, and so on. It was at times too much, even for a gay reader, who sometimes

    Chapter 1

Sadly, I think very few people are interested in my fan fiction
  11. Your welcome, I hope more people will read and enjoy reading various gay fiction books and since these are mostly small time authors, it's good to put their name out there, even in this little corner of the internet. I do read a lot
  12. The issue with The Husband Gambit wasn't the length of the novel, it was long enough and probably draggy due to the curve ball of Hayden's fears, aka being perceived as a prostitute by Jesse. It's problem came from how LA Witt used her narrative, she overdid the relationship and under-served the premise. It's like seeing a perfectly breaded chicken parm, only to realize the meat beneath the breadcrumbs is still pink 😞
  13. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/42610128-the-husband-gambit A story about fake “paid-for” husbands becoming lovers, interesting idea. What if I add in that the setting is Los Angeles, the characters are in the film industry, and the stakes are basically electing a racist homophobe as the next Governor of California…Yes, this stuff is a Hollywood screenplay waiting to happen, especially with the recall election of current Governor Newsom underway in California. It should be a perfect
  14. I guess, you'll like my review of TJ Klune's Lightning Struck Heart tomorrow As for gay space sci-fi, I have one for you: https://www.goodreads.com/series/121489-dark-space I'm still finishing up that series, but it's pretty good. It's a bit of a space Opera with a military setting and a good deal of sci-fi background.
  15. Same thing happened with me and Keira Andrews Fight the Tide, I was stoked when I heard there was a sequel to Kick at the Darkness. I was very disappointed. What kind of books do you like?
  16. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36341204-what-if-it-s-us Two Words describes this mainstream YA gay love story: Fated Romance Yes, I am not the target audience of this kind of novel which is distinctly later teen to early twenties, but as a writer, I do like reading modern love stories with gay young adults, who are trying to figure out what is right in the very new world of gay dating for “out” youths. When I was a gay teen in the early 2000’s the gay literature of the t
  17. Welcome back! @James Matthews Cake and cookies will be offered shortly
  18. Like I said, I don't think everyone would like it, there are certain things about the book that are just too perfectly imperfect. It's the Sorkin-esque style that appeals to me, which sort of balances some of the tropes. If a story is fun, inspirational, and can elicit strong emotions, it gets really high score from me. I've only been to a tack room once in my life without ever considering anything about it. The story has changed my view... Maturity wise, they're college aged boys, so I'm not surprised about their actions. Some guys don't really sort themselves in college or even after, I was still attending wild house parties until I was around 26/27. You get more mature later in your 20's. Then, you have the social dimension, these aren't normal guys with normal lives. For some reason, the wealthier your background, the less mature it seems people appear to be about their perspectives on life or how to interact with other people.
  19. Alan Hollinghurst may be an interesting option for 20th century historical gay fiction, some of these his stories are interesting. Patrick Gale has one book on my wish list (doubling as my future reading list), A Place Called Winter, I do have an interest in the Canadian wilds ever since I was a kid and read the Hatchet series and the story is reminscent of Maurice, based on the summary, so I was intrigued. Never heard of Matt Cain, but will investigate Thanks
  20. I was planning on Reviewing Tal Bauer's Executive Office Series after the Summer He's what I imagine @C Jameswould be like as a mainstream author (high praise indeed, considering he's one of GA best authors ). He's also a brilliant gay world-ending adventure political thriller writer too Thanks for the suggestions I'm going to see if they are available on Audible, if not Kindle is my other choice, but will take a bit longer for me to read.
  21. Any other authors you want me to review, I do take requests and as you can probably tell, I am an avid reader. I'll probably review another big name gay fiction title next week along with several minor authors.
  22. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40627465-galaxies-and-oceans A romance novel that warms the heart and provides loads of emotions between two very different characters crossing paths by chance, must be N.R Walker. Australia wasn’t my idea of a romantic locale until I began reading her novels, while I appreciate dunes and kangaroos, it just never had that scenic quality that you would find in novels about Paris’ Eiffel Tower, London or Los Angeles’ club scene, New York’s bigger than life
  23. @Mawgrimand @Mrsgnomie I am glad you are both finding more reading materials and exchanging book recommendations. I've read NR Walker as well but I did so with another of her books, Galaxies and Oceans. It resonated pretty well even with Australian themes, plus I loved the sweet idea of a kept boy and a lonely lighthouse keeper bonding. I might have to write a review on that book, it is a standalone.
  24. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41150487-red-white-royal-blue Modern “Social Media”-Driven Narrative, Gay, Social commentary, Comedic, and Political, so pardon my language, but Fuck Yes, it’s everything I want in a gay fiction novel. I’ve tried my hand at doing social commentary, social media driven stories, and politics as an amateur author, but it never felt quite so right as how this story melded all those elements together. This story is to me equivalent to Aaron Sorkin’s Ame
