  2. Chapter 1: The End is The Beginning The clanging of metal on metal roused him. He couldn't see anything at first, as he groggily awakened from a restless unconsciousness. The first sense to recover was his hearing. He heard the sound of soft footsteps, gradually getting louder, heading towards him in a slow, deliberate way. The person walking toward him was dragging something, perhaps a baton of sorts, across the metal bars of the cells. He heard his own slow, ragged breathing

  4. Cockroaches. Especially if they start flying. I'd probably soil my pants if I see one. ewww.
  5. 9 out of 14 states in Malaysia, and Bristol, UK for a year. My parents got horny in Indonesia, and I was conceived there
  6. I actually like American Idol (btw, I think Adam Lambert is hot). I used to follow The Amazing Race, but after a few seasons it's pretty much the same. I also like X-Factor, but I can only watch it on youtube heh. Being where I am, there's sooooo many rip-offs of western talent shows, and most of them are boring, popularity contests. Waaaaay too much 'looks-and-novelty-will-net-you-votes' kinda shows, less talent involved.

  12. Maybe he just needs some time to sort out his sh*t. Give him some space, but try to keep the friendship if you can
  13. Oh yeah, that was me wasn't it? hehe!
  14. Even if it's predictable, the way you write it would still make your stories enjoyable. As I've said before, it might be clich
  15. I giggled at that Narnia thing. Again. Anyway, aside of bridging the gap between them, I think that knowing they were in another world would also make Rocky more comfortable to come out to Marty, as none of his former gang are there to ridicule him.

  17. I just finished a marathon of the two previous volumes, and continued with SOTW last night. The change in genre is suprising, turning to thriller, but I do like it a lot!
  18. There are quite a few words that describe actions or expressions when speaking. You can also write any secondary action that the character is currently making while they speak. It helps the readers to understand the conversation better, and make them feel any emotions in the conversation and create drama (if applicable). I'd probably write something like this:
  19. I think it was early in my final year of primary school (12yo, I don't know the equivalent grade in US education system) when I first started having thoughts about boys or girls sexually. I remember sneaking in my friend's porn (VHS!!!) and had my first sexual encounter at 13 with another boy who bunked in the dorm next door (yay for all-boys boarding school!). I agree with MikeL, kids will think of sex at any age, and it'll probably happen faster if he/she has friends who have had experience. Peer pressure and all that stuff. I don't think it's wrong, but parents could try to prevent them having sex early, and just think about it until later on when they're a bit older. But in my culture, parents very rarely or don't give their kids "the talk" at all, so we're basically left to fend for ourselves. We were expected to stay chaste until marriage. Sucks, but hey, what they don't know wont hurt 'em
  20. Congrats!
  21. I'm Asian, and I find that picture funny as hell.
  22. Umm they must be kinda desperate I guess. It's kinda sad, really, but I guess they don't have any alternatives, or maybe they were just...drunk or high. When you put a picture on the net, it stays there forever. A watermark is sorta like this. You'll notice a watermark on his torso. They're just a signature of sorts artists/photographers put over their picture, it can be their name, url, or logo, or anything really. Simple thing to do it in Adobe Photoshop; create a new layer on top of your photo/artwork, add logo/words, and lower the opacity of the layer. Preferably placed where you think people would try to crop or the whole picture itself. Sometimes it ruins the picture, but it's the easiest way to protect it from abuse (but not foolproof, advanced users can remove it well but usually it's detectable if they do).
  23. Judgment without the 'E' last time I checked.
  24. Matt is being so protective of Jamie, it's so cute <3 I was almost certain Conner picked up the secret...
  25. Umm...can I agree to both writing for myself, and for the audience? I just want to share my stories, and I get satisfaction writing it down and sharing it, even if no one reads it. I mean, I believe that eventually at least one in a million readers might actually stumble upon my story and read it, even if it's gonna be years on from now. Even if they don't vocalize it or leave any comments. I personally know at least 1 person who reads it now, and that's good enough for me. In any case, the story I'm writing currently will be the backbone of my future comic/manga, so I'll keep on writing it anyway. Sometimes I (think) that I have a really awesome story in hand, and I can't wait to share and show it to anyone willing. But does that mean I write for myself, or for the audience? I think a little bit of both. Regarding Cirrus's question, I prefer to receive negative comments than no comments at all. That's how authors grow, I guess. Admittedly, I am one of those who rarely give negative feedback myself. However, I only act that way for stories outside of my preferred genre which is fantasy, as I feel that it's not my expertise, so to speak. Also, sometimes I feel like I'm not good enough myself to give negative critique, especially to an author who has been writing longer than I have. But if I feel that a particular story has a lot of promise, even out of my genre, than I'll dish 'em out, either publicly or privately, depends. Off topic: 3 new chapters of GFD almost back to back gave me multiple orgasms.
