  1. Nick is definitely not what it used to be, altough I think iCarly and Big Time Rush are actually pretty good. THANK GOD the Zoey 101 era is over, I couldn't stand that chick.
  2. Thanks, man. She was one of the last good cast members of All That, so for that, she'll always be a part of my childhood as well. (However, if Jamie Lynn Spears announced she retired, I really wouldn't shed a tear at all because she shouldn't have effin' been on All That.)
  3. I kept thinking that, too. I thought she'd be like Jennifer Love Hewitt in a couple years- former teen queen who gets a second act by her late 20's, and get a break-out adult role in a good sitcom.
  4. Forget the war in Iraq. Forget the oil spill, and the Larry King Live special that raised 1.3 million for the efforts. No, right now the biggest news is...Amanda Bynes Retires at 24 From Acting! Oh, nooooo!!!!! Okay, all sarcasm aside, it is kinda weird to think of a contemporary- someone I grew up with in a sense as I watched them on tv, actually saying she's "retired". And I gotta admit I'm a bit jealous- although she definitely didn't make the billions the Oleson's did, Amanda's probably made enough bank in her life that she's pretty much free to rest on her laurels and worry about nothing. At 24. My age. Damn, I'm jealous. I should've become a child star, damn it. If I could retire at my age, I'd be one happy cat. I'd buy a Winnebago, and travel throughout the United States, taking pictures and befriending locals while writing about my observations in journals. If you don't know who the hell she is, I don't really blame you. The only way you'd know is if you were familiar with Nickelodeon and the WB programming during the first half of the 2000's. She was on your typical teen sitcom stuff, and made some typical bad teen comedies. Although She's the Man introduced us to Channing Tatum, so...hey. You can't say nothing good ever came out of her career.
  5. Guys, I really honestly love the idea that Stefan's birthday is Bastille's Day, but because Stefan isn't about birthdays, JP has instead made Bastille's Day a covert way to celebrate Stefan's birthday without making him feel old. Awesome idea!
  6. Hey guys, I made some edits, including finally giving Stefan a birthday. (Which might be a moot point, since Stefan doesn't believe in his birthday, but hey.)
  7. You know what, guys? I agree with you. Mark Arbour, I think Stefan's birthday is Bastille's Day, 1945. Is that okay with you? It works for the period of time in which Stefan and Annette were having sex, as well as Stefan being 16 in April of 1962. (If you guys are wondering, Mark usually has me set birthdays for characters that didn't specifically happen in the story, like Darius and George Granger. I picked January 10th, 1776 as George Granger's birthdate because it was when Common Sense was published.)
  8. Someone apparently posted this on Craiglist. The original got taken down, but a blog has reprinted it. It's quite possibly one of the best things I've ever read on Craigslist. To the Straight Guy At the Party It's kinda sad that guy who's going for his masters in Educational could be such a bigot, but it's nice to know that he was made an outcast at the party for being such an unrepentant homophobe.
  9. No, he's not. He was born June 20th, 1936- which makes him 74 in present-day. In the CAP World, where it is summer 1999, JP is 63.
  10. Right. If Steven hadn't known about Stefan, he might have considered it, but he knew, and there's no way he would have abandoned his child like that.
  11. Mark M, I hope Aaron is dead as well.
  12. happy birthay, JP!
  13. The date of conception takes place October 1st, so Stefan's birthday can't possibly be October 7th- humans don't have 53-week gestation periods.
  14. Chapter 19 -When Steven talks about Aaron's death, and has sex with Annette Bordet. "Smile" by Judy Garland -In Steven's last journal entry, where he talks about his nerves about becoming a father, and what has happened to the Hayes family, and wonders how he'll get it together when he gets back. "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" by Judy Garland -When Stefan grieves his father, after finally getting a chance to know him. "My Time Of Sorrow" by Marianne Faithfull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t3p-Wvwxhs
  15. Still, it's kinda crazy that someone who loves to throw a party wouldn't throw one in honor for himself. He could do what someone I met once did, who always put 32 candles on her birthday cake. LOL. And even back in the Land Whore, when Stefan was still in his 20's, he didn't ever acknowledge his birthday. Although I guess you could say that Annette Bordet, being as poor as she was, just never really did the birthday thing for Stefan, and that's why Stefan never really got into the habit of celebrating them. Maybe that's the reason why Stefan treats other people's birthdays as a big deal- i.e. him flying people around for Will's 13th birthday, getting Alejandro and Casey matching cars for their 16th birthday, etc. Stefan's not comfortable celebrating his birthday, so he overcompensates and gives the real "Super-Sweet 16" to everyone else. ' But anyway, let's just go ahead and make July 1, 1945 Stefan's birthday. It's been bugging the hell out of me that Stefan doesn't have one, so let's make that his!
  16. No. Stefan's non-birthday has been a running gag throughout the whole series. For a guy who loves a goood party and for someone who has been the protagonist a record-setting three times, its pretty amazing that we have never seen Stefan celebrate a birthday. Anyways, you raise a good point- why DIDN'T Tonto search for Stefan since she knew?
  17. Man, Adam, you just brought back some memories...the drama of the high school lunchroom. I remember it was a few weeks into freshmen year of high school. There was this group of kids who were the most popular 11th graders- they were made up of mostly straight-edge punk rocker artists anchored by the guys who were considered the cutest in the school. The leader was Dan Kafader, who was really, really cute. I, being eager to get in with the popular edgy artist crowd despite being not being an artist, sat with them for a few days straight at this grassy knoll that they sat at. I was pretty annoying, that annoying freshmen trying to fit in with the upperclassmen. So one day, Dan August, who was one of the henchman, stopped me while I was working towards them andyelled, "Don't sit with me and my friends!" I was pissed, so I tried to kick him in the balls. He ducked it, and pushed me down on the ground in front of that whole group. Man. It was so embarrassing. For two years I got teased by the popular artist "in-crowd". I was happy when the class of '03 graduated, let me tell you. Rest of high school, I just sorta floated around and ate lunch with different groups, settling down by senior year eating lunch in my math teacher's room with other kids who weren't really down with lunch table antics. It was nice- we sat around and played on the computers, talked about life while being far away from the hustle and bustle of the cafe, and we played Dance Dance Revolution on the television in the room. Nice stuff.

  19. Chapter 18 -When Steven gets settled in with his platoon, and stands up to his sergeant. "G.I. Jive" by Johnny Mercer -When Steven has sex with his very drunk sergeant. "Rum and Coca-Cola" by the Andrews Sisters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWY4_GyLufI -When Steven talks about D.Day "Footage from Saving Private Ryan" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfh3ne88fPY
  20. For the scene when Jeff comforts JP after losing Andre and Billie.
  21. I FINALLY decided on where I'm going, and that's Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I realized the only reason why I was considering Millersville was because it's only an hour away and I could take my car, and other than that, Millersville doesn't really offer a whole lot. Like it doesn't have graduate housing, and it doesn't offer a wide variety of classes. I'm a bit wary about the fact that it's 5 hours away from home, and I likely can't bring my car as my 1999 beater couldn't handle a 300 mile drive, but I think that might be a good thing. Funny how things work out. IUP was my second-choice, MU was first. But when I sat down with the advisor at MU, I realized that the program didn't really offer much to me. My mom told me, "I just want you to be happy, and go where ever you want to go", and I realized that I want to go to IUP. It's just going to be a real different kind of experience, but I'm excited. I'm sorta taking a big leap of faith, and I realize I could fall flat on my face, but hey- if I hate it there, I can always transfer, plus it's only two years anyways. And Indiana is the hometown of Jimmy Stewart, so...it's like I'm going to be around the real Bedford Falls. I can't wait for the first snowfall...I'd be running around, yelling "Merry Christmas, Bedford Falls!"
  22. I pretty much knew that. I wasn't serious at all. I decided I wanted to imitate a character from Little House on the Prairie.
  23. The part where Andy admires Matt's body reminds me of the way that Gene admires Finney's lithe, athletic body.
  24. Adam, I wasn't trying to catch you in a mistake. I figure if anyone would be intimately acquainted with what teenage boys who lived at the beach were wearing in 1994, it would be you. I was just merely expressing surprise, because in my neck of the woods, people didn't get around to wearing board shorts until about 1998/1999. It's always interesting to me where trends originate, and how they disseminate.
  25. Eh, I figured it was worth a shot.
