  2. Maybe this is my subconscious trying to make it so I have to take another year because I'm scared of graduating.

  4. So I just got chewed out in Italian today. And it was my fault- I didn't do the work. And it hasn't exactly been the first time this semester that this has happened, and I think the professor finally just got fed up. I'm not really offering any excuses. I know it's all on me. And I know that I've got to turn it around. I also know that while there is still time to turn it around, that time ends soon. So. I give Mark Arbour and Adam Phillips full permission to slap the shit out of me if I don't do my homework from now on. Yeah.
  5. Mark M, JJ and Will are 12 and 11 years old, respectively. Let's wait until they're 15 in 2001 before they'll go to crazy parties. Darius, however, is 16. I'm sure Matt will take him to a Stanford party at some point.

  8. It's been a busy weekend, and my computer is on the fritz. I will try and get the recs done for chapter 9 and chapter 10 tonight. Bear with me.
  9. Well, I did get a 4 for the 2005 AP Composition and Literature test. So I'm actually pretty good at that.
  10. When I was 15, I jacked off and gave head to a 39-year old guy who didn't have arms because his mother used Thalomide when she was pregant. That tops your story, Mark. Totally. Especially when I add that the dude was a foster parent who liked having sexual encounters with underaged boys!
  11. Matt is Robbie's son. Robbie is Brad's husband. (Legally, no, but whatever.) Brad is JP's son. Stefan is JP's husband. Therefore, though not in terms of blood, Matt pretty much is their grandson. It's a stretched definition, but yeah. Now that they know, it's not really appropriate it. I think JP is already marking off Matt as his grandson in his mind. What's been emphasized throughout CAP is how bond trumps blood in terms of family- JP's father was his father, despite the bio father being Bill Hendrickson. Ace, Brad, and Billy were his sons, despite Claire being the only one he actually fathered. Robbie and Brad loved Darius and JJ as their own sons, despite Bitty and the two divergent fathers being the actual birth parents. This story seems to be exploring, in a more overt way, something that Mark's been exploring all along- family ties, and bond vs. blood. Hence why Bloodlines is a seriously appropriate name for this story.
  12. Chapter 8 -When Matt, made cheerful by Cody's lovin', meets Jeanine at breakfast before getting ready to go to Palo Alto. "Walking on The Sun" by Smash Mouth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iamM9VEV8sU -When Matt has some fun with Brian and Cody. "Caress Me Down" by Sublime -At Escorial, when Matt gets to meet his grandfather, Frank, and Claire and Brad come to the defense of their dad against Ace's judgmental ways. "Family Tree" by Bone Thugs N Harmony *** Damn. Late 1990's music really was ALL over the map.
  13. Indeed. Mark and I have sat on our rocking chairs in the front porch of his house, shaking our fist at young 18-year olds and going, 'Ya whippersnappers! Get offa my lawn!" Youth really is wasted on the young sometimes... I'm with you in wishing I could be 18 again, Bryan...well. Maybe 19. 19 is better.
  14. I agree completely. One, Matt is 18 years old. Two, he's from a white collar type of family, and they tend to settle down later. I really don't think Matt needs to find the "one" just yet. Hell, I'm five years older than Matt, haven't found the one, and I'm completely fine with that. I really don't think Matt needs to settle down just yet.
  15. This is so different compared to the story about how cops in Toronto, Canada are made to hold hands with other cops of the same sex for sensitivity training. So much for considering Atlanta as a place to live. LOL.
  16. Chapter 7 -When Matt burns with his newfound family members, and gets to know them. NOT in a sexual way. "Summertime" by Sublime Okay, the SoCal scenery here is pretty awesome. -When Matt and Cody talk after having sex, and Matt tells him about the cop in Texas, and how that's the reason they can't bareback. "Got You Where I Want You" by The Flys -When Matt and his father get into an argument on the phone because he's uncomfortable with Matt staying with two gay couples. "Who Will Save Your Soul?" by Jewel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rG602tjDzGs -When Robbie and Matt talk by the ocean, about building a relationship together, and Robbie relates to him how hard it was to get his happy ending with Brad. "It Takes A Little Time" by Amy Grant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zBCXD6UdL8 I love this video, especially when you see the couple of the newlyweds turn into a photo of the two of them celebrating their son's graduation with their teenage daughter. Beautiful visual. I think of Bloodlines, this is the first chapter music that I really, really like.
  17. It plain won't happen. When Mark's story moves to the 2000's, I will use pop, but I'm going to use pop appropriate to the type of music that Will and JJ grew up to as boys who were born in the mid-1980's, had their childhood in the 1990's, started high school in 2001 and then college in 2005. No one, and I mean no one, was listening to Hannah Montana when I was a senior in high school. I'm sure there will be some Beyonce and Britney, but I'm planning on making the soundtrack heavy on stuff like the Killers, The Shins, and Green Day's American Idiot by the time we get to circa 2005. But we're still in 1998, so the only pop we'll be getting here is Spice Girls, the Backstreet Boys, and maybe Hanson.
  18. Adam seems to REALLY hate it when I saw "sick" or "rager".
  19. Chapter 6 -When Matt drives on I-10 to get to Robbie's office. "Ventura Highway" by America http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnhKcCwZwl8 So it doesn't really fit the period, being that it was over 20 years old by 1998, but I thought the topic fit, and eh. I remember when this was used quite brilliantly on an episode of Veronica Mars about five years ago. -When Matt gets to Stefan's house in Malibu Colony, and walks in on Cody and Alejandro having a fight. Then he has sex with Cody. "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY0536g_6Wc -When Matt and Cody have sex again, then get together in the show, and get ready for dinner. "Tell Me What You Want" by Mase http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdG618TMc5E -At the family dinner, when Matt meets Robbie, and the family laughs about the comedy of errors that was the fling with Matt and his two grandfathers. "Kind And Generous" by Natalie Merchant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdG618TMc5E
  20. Chapter 5 -When Matt's GMC is all packed up for his trip to California, and he thinks about Cam, about his birth parents, and deals with his homphobic adoptive parents. "Cruel Summer" by Ace Of Base -When Matt starts driving, and it finally hits him how much he'll miss his parents now that he's going away. "The Power of Goodbye" by Madonna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaNjCal26CM -When Matt engages in a threesome in the hotel. "No Diggity" by Blackstreet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUqZY805aDc -When Matt unwittingly has sex with his grandparents again in St. Louis. "Wannabe" by The Spice Girls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoaiWe-SNsM -When Matt gets screwed by a cop who caught him masturbating. Literally. "The Dope Show" by Marilyn Manson **** Man, I really am having fun with doing this music. The late 90's...geez. What a time!
  21. Yeah. I'm going with Mark on this one, Enric. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride. LOL. But I will answer some points. By about November 1979, Laura would have been about four months pregnant. Most women would have *just* started showing at four months, and I'm sure she would have been wearing baggy clothing to hide it. My sister hid her pregnancy from all of us until she was in her third month...trust me, it's plausible Laura could have gotten away with hiding the pregnancy all through the summer and early fall. Also, back in the earlier days, it was common for a pregnant teenage girl to "hide" with either a family relative who lived in another area, so no one would know she was having a baby. By about 1979, the shame of being pregnant wasn't that big of a deal, but still, this was Claremont. The United States has a very high teenage birth rate, compared against other industrialized countries. So it's actually pretty common for teenagers to have kids. It's not really something society here approves of, but it's very common. I have several friends from high school who got pregnant while in high school. Coincidentally, we also had "abstinence only" sex education. Draw your own conclusions there. Also, Brad and Robbie could very easily be in the same grade despite being born in different years. In my state, Delaware, the class of 2005 generally consisted of people who were born between September 1986 to August 1987. Those who were born in August 1986 made the "cutoff", so they could have enrolled with the class of 2004. Those who were born in September 1987 missed the Class of 2005 cut-off, so they were enrolled with the class of 2006 instead. I'm applying this to Be Rad- they were class of 1981. On average, that means someone born in 1963, which Robbie had been. However, because Brad's birthdate is late in the year, I'm assuming he missed the cut-off date to be enrolled with the class of 1980, and enrolled with '81 instead. There are a lot of variables here. In my case, I was born in December 1985. A 1985 birthdate would have put me in the Class of 2003, but because my birthdate was past the New Jersey cut-off date, I could not start kindergarten in 1990- I had to wait until 1991 instead. That put me in the class of 2004. Then two years later, my father decided he wanted me to repeat 1st grade, so I got kicked back to the class of 2005. So I was 19 years old when I graduated high school in spring 2005. I had one friend who had JUST turned 17. It really does vary.
  22. Robbie's girlfriend disappeared around November 1979 to avoid showing. She was back in Claremont by April 1980, after giving birth. The excuse was that she was helping a sick relative. By August 1980, I doubt Robbie would have really been thinking about his ex-girlfriend that left Claremont for five months. He was too busy with his new life in California. As for the adoption thing- all Laura would have had to say was that she didn't know who the father was, and the adoption would have gone through. Especially- you gotta remember, this was 1980. Birth father right cases weren't happening just yet. Here's an article that talks about it the move for father birth rights- http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/19/national/19fathers.html And yes, Robbie and Brad were 17 when they started their senior year of high school in California together. High school seniors in America are typically about seventeen years old. Brad has his 18th birthday on October 4th, 1980, while Robbie turned 18 somewhere in March 1981. Other ages- JP is 62 now, Stefan is about 52, Brad is 35-soon-to-be-36, Marcel is 29, Darius is about 16, JJ is 12, and Will is 11. Keeping continuity is fun. LOL.
  23. Yeah. Robbie's birthday falls in March 1963. He's 35 as of summer 1998. Matt was born in April 1980, so he was conceived in July 1979, when Robbie was about sixteen and getting ready to start his junior year of high school. Laura hid the pregnancy from people, but was going to tell Robbie until he got caught doing half the football team somewhere around September to October, 1979. Laura left Clairemont to have the baby in secret and stay with relatives who lived close to Cleveland. When Matt was born in April, she went back to Clairemont to finish high school. Matt's adoptive parents were in their late 30's, and had for ten to fifteen years tried to have kids, but it didn't gell. So that's how Matt lucked into his rich-ass adoptive parents. Anyways, this is Evan Wadle (sometimes just called Wade), who is the physical model we based Matt Carrsworld on. His body is much more cut than the average Hayes, but I think Evan really does look like he could belong on the Hayes family tree. The naturally pouty lips especially.http://img379.imageshack.us/ifs/7223/img508/2/evanwade16ln6.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1208/1222675545_6f6953c0a6.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ON0lJRGV7Mg/SKvJyXf-vdI/AAAAAAAACWM/n8DxzOs8yew/s400/evan8.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ON0lJRGV7Mg/SKvJyglWh6I/AAAAAAAACWU/fanQWRX5Ntk/s1600-h/evan10.jpg Damn. What a great-looking guy.
  24. Chapter 4 -When Matt drives down I-77, getting ready to see his birth mother in Clairemont, and then winds up hooking up with a trucker making eyes at him. "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots -When Matt meets Laura, his birthmother, who tells him about her relationship with his birthfather, Robbie Hayes. "Sixth Avenue Heartache" by The Wallflowers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdQyougLaSY -When Matt gets in a fight at the bar with a guy who's hitting on his birthmother. "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-58-36lSqG4 -When Matt unwittingly meets his grandfathers, and then has sex with them. "Honey" by Mariah Carey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-xk1oSi5JQ
  25. You're right about that. Matt's going to college out in California. And I dunno- if Matt doesn't feel it, he doesn't feel it, and I can't see that changing.
