  1. Well, there are always exceptions.
  2. Don't hold your breath. November 1999 lasts even longer in this story than July 1999 lasted for the Box. At this rate JJ won't see his 14th birthday on December 7th until the cows come home. Tiger, I really think Mark took your comment about how we're running out of years to heart, as 1999 has now stretched over three stories. If Mark does the same thing for 2000 and 2001, I don't think CAP world will see 2005 until our world is in about 2015 or so.... True. I feel like the big differences between Brad's generation and Will's generation is that Will's generation grew up with the Internet and hip-hop as the mainstream in their lives, while Brad grew up at a time where "preppy" (and not just AF-preppy, but honest-to-god preppy) was in, and hip-hop was some fringe deal and computers were not home-based. It'll be interesting for Mark to explore this when it comes time for Will's turn. Anyways, neato, you're a year younger than Darius. I hope Mark's been good at capturing your peer group with Darius. And you think have parents born in the early 50's was bad? My mom was 39 when she had me, and was born in the mid-40's. It's been interesting having older parents, I'll tell you. She doesn't get the hip-hop thing at ALL.
  3. For whatever reason, 1980-1981 and 1985-1986 were really significant periods in Brad's life, so it makes sense that he's still somewhat hung up on what happened. I do agree it's bull that Robbie is out of touch with youth. He has four teenaged sons. Come on.
  4. What do you feel about lacrosse and cross-country then, Mark?
  5. Chapter 2 -When Brad flips out at Robbie's suggestion to open up their relationship. "Don't Change" by Inxs http://www.youtube.c...feature=related -When Brad comes to JP about his problems with Robbie. "She's Got Issues" by The Offspring http://www.youtube.c...h?v=xfeYRlCL8jQ -When Robbie and Brad make up, and come to an agreement about giving the swingers lifestyle a month trial, and then make love. "Baby One More Time" by Travis It was already an old cover by then, but I remember in 2002 these two guys sang this song to each other at a camping trip I went on for school. It was pretty cool. I kinda felt like I had exhausted alot of late 90's music for Bloodlines, so it's been a bit of a challenge. I'm being more open about the time period I use, like I did for the Box.
  6. Them's fighting words, man. I hope Adam doesn't see this.
  7. It shouldn't. Mark's kinda hit a new creative run with this story...not having to do as much research for this story as Mark had to do for the Box really allows Mark to just run wild.
  8. Hey, I have a friend who plans on eventually penning an online tale for a story that involves fictional kids who go to Malibu High School, and graduate in 2005. I thought I'd help him out and go straight to the source. I just had some questions about what SoCal Malibu kids were like, circa 2005... *** 1. Could a guy be openly gay at Malibu High School without it being a big deal? 2. What kind of cars did the rich kids drive? Was it mainly SUV type stuff, like Hummers? 3. How preppy is the school? Did kids there dress really preppy, or was it a lot more laidback? What were the popular clothing brands? 4. What were the popular slang terms? Were kids saying stuff like "sick" and "rager", or was that just on that show Laguna Beach? 5. What were the popular hang-outs? Zuma Beach, I'm guessing, but were there any resturants or clubs that kids who went there always went to? 6. How did the kids who came from the Colony act like? Were they stuck-up rich kids, or just laidback and normal? *** Thanks, I'd really appreciate your help!
  9. Right. That's what I meant. I can easily see the boys holding a grudge against the two for a long time if it happened.
  10. How do figure skaters feel about skiers? JJ should totally have a threesome with Lindsey Vonn and Jeremy Bloom at Gran Torino. That'd be hot. Anyways, I don't see how Matt and JJ are going to be fighting over chicks since JJ at 19 will most likely be in Italy getting ready for the Olympics... Back to Brad/Matt...you COULD go there, Mark, but it would take a long time to undue the damage from going there. I think this is something a teenage kid could hold against his father for a very long time.
  11. My ending would be that they realized they had changed two much from the school boys that had fallen in love for there to be a viable adult romance, but they became good friends and Bobby managed too help his old friend get back on his feet. I imagine Bobby visits his friend's new place every once in awhile, and they sit back on the porch in their rocking chairs and reminisce about their youth.
  12. You are right that there's no way in hell Stefan wouldn't figure it out in ten seconds of looking at their faces. As for the second bit, I think you're wrong. JJ would never date a hockey player, be they male or female. He's too prissy in a Johnny Weir-kinda way for me to buy him ever getting with a hockey player. They seem a bit too rough. I'd buy him more with a tennis star or golfer.
  13. It would most likely be someone we met in Be Rad.
  14. It's an interesting cross-roads to get to. Brad and Robbie have been together "officially" since 1985. They got settled into an insta-family with Jeanine, Darius, JJ, and Will in 1986, by the time when they were just 23. Now it's fourteen years later....they're seeing one child going through his senior year of high school, which has to make them feel old. They're seeing the other two hitting their teenage years, and are probably going through what every parent goes through when they realize that their babies have been replaced by young adolescents. Now that the kids don't need them as much and they're beginning to edge towards an empty nest, it's time for them to start rediscovering what each one is like outside of their family. It makes a lot of sense that they're at this point- the kids are growing up, the 90's business boom is just about ending, and they got settled down when they were so young. I do agree with the person upthread that Brad's kids would never forgive him, or take a long time to do it, if Brad wound up sleeping with Matt, who is for all intents and purposes their older brother.
  15. Chapter 1 -When Brad and Robbie start the day with some sex and go on to their regular rountine, except Robbie gets vague about why he wants Brad there. "Dead Already" by Thomas Newman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ztMBQ_WE4k&feature=related -When Brad gets to the office, and has to deal with the Amphion crisis with Stefan, Luke, and Ryan. "Taking Care of Business" by Bachman Turner Overdrive -When Robbie reveals to Brad that he wants to open up their marriage. "American Beauty" by Thomas Newman
  16. Brad and Robbie pretty much have been in stasis since 1986, it feels like. They get their happily ever-after and their insta-family....but with the kids growing up at this point( Darius is 17 now, JJ and Will are 13), it makes sense that as they get away from raising little kids, they have to start relating to each other again aisde from just being the dads of their children. I don't think the three kids would take it well if Matt ended up sleeping with Brad. I really can't see that all. It would take the kids awhile to forgive Matt and Brad if that happened.
  17. I honestly hope that in the four intervening years, you've had some positive experiences with bisexual men that have changed this viewpoint a little. I'm not saying you don't have a right to have it, but I think for a lot of bisexual men, the confusion of dealing with being attracted to both sexes causes them to do things that might be hurtful. But not all bi guys are like that, trust me.
  18. Damn. That's some kinda of bump. I didn't realize this was from 2006 until Bobby said something about the second half of 2006- I was like, "What?" Geez. In my case, I'd probably approach the guy like a friend. I just don't think I'd try to rekindle any romance.
  19. Well, Darius, JJ, and Will pretty much consider Matt to be their brother, so there's that. Still, it might be interesting to explore- would Matt really be considered part of the family if Robbie was out of the picture? Hmm.
  20. Mark, you do this, and Adam Phillips will hire a hitman.
  21. Chapter 20 -When the clan interrupt a festive barbeque gathering in suburban Detroit to collect Nathan for their trip to find Aaron Hayes, Stefan notes the 1970's decor of the house, and the men ingratiate themselves to Nathan's family. "Everybody Dance" by Chic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJpgmcMV3n4 -When they find Aaron, and Nathan confronts Aaron. "Daniel" by Elton John -When Stefan pretends to be Steven to comfort the lonely, sad old man. "Lonely People" by America You guys don't even want to KNOW how hard it was to find a decent, non-cover rip of this song. Youtube was no help because it keeps getting taken down, and I just lucked out and found this on another site. -When Aaron tries to explain himself, and the Hayes get some closure before the clan leaves Aaron back to his solitary life in the islands. "Good-bye Yellow Brick" by Elton John http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK0gXuifSAA -When JP and Stefan go for a drive to the old lake cabin, find Steven's car, and confirm their love for each other. "Always" by Frank Sinatra
  22. Mark could try exploring the relatively new scene of plushies/furries,aka people who have sex while dressed up in animal costumes.
  23. It's going to be awhile. Mark hasn't even added the final chapter of The Box yet.
  24. Right. She just wasn't a very funny actress, Jamie Lyn, and was an obvious case of nepotism. It seems like she hersef realizes that she's not, because she seems to be just focusing on her family. Anyways, I wonder if Amanda could try and get into stand-up comedy...it might be funny.
  25. This makes me think of Andy falling for Angie in chapter 14...Anna Begins by the Counting Crows My friend assures me, "It's all or nothing." I am not worried I am not overly concerned My friend implores me, "For one time only, Make an exception." I am not worried Wrap her up in a package of lies Send her off to a coconut island I am not worried I am not overly concerned with the status of my emotions "Oh," she says, "you're changing." But we're always changing It does not bother me to say this isn't love Because if you don't want to talk about it then it isn't love And I guess I'm going to have to live with that But I'm sure there's something in a shade of grey Or something in between And I can always change my name If that's what you mean My friend assures me, "It's all or nothing." But I am not really worried I am not overly concerned You try to tell yourself the things you try to tell yourself To make yourself forget I am not worried "If it's love," she said, "then we're going to have to think about the consequences." She can't stop shaking I can't stop touching her and... This time when kindness falls like rain It washes her away and Anna begins to change her mind "These seconds when I'm shaking leave me shuddering for days," she says And I'm not ready for this sort of thing But I'm not going to break And I'm not going to worry about it anymore I'm not going to bend and I'm not going to break And I'm not going to worry about it anymore No no no no no, It seems like I should say, "As long as this is love..." But it's not all that easy so maybe I should Snap her up in a butterfly net Pin her down on a photograph album I am not worried I've done this sort of thing before But then I start to think about the consequences Because I don't get no sleep in a quiet room and... The time when kindness falls like rain It washes me away and Anna begins to change my mind And everytime she sneezes I believe it's love and Oh Lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing She's talking in her sleep It's keeping me awake and Anna begins to toss and turn And every word is nonsense but I understand and Oh Lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing Her kindness bangs a gong It's moving me along and Anna begins to fade away It's chasing me away She disappears and Oh Lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing
