I believe 28-year old me felt offended because I'm 5'5." LOL You know, I tried to get Mark to do a story where JJ had a late growth spurt that would have fucked up his skating career, but Mark was firm on JJ needing to be short because it's part of his psyche and it makes him stand out from Darius and Will. Lol I also think I was just like, "Damn, I can't live vicariously through that. Oh, well." Lol

You just reminded me of TetRefine. He lived in Philadelphia because he wanted the big city experience, but he couldn't afford New York City. Eventually he got himself there- I believe even to Manhattan. At this point I think most of the Brooklyn creatives got pushed out. Not exactly sure where they're going. It kind of feels like every dying Rustbelt city is trying to promote themselves to the artists and tech people.

Realistically Mark is going to have to do a time jump when he decides it's time to pass on the baton from Will's cohort to Riley's cohort. They won't be old enough to center a story until about the mid-2010's. In the meantime, at this point I've accepted that I'll be 40 when JJ turns 20. Lol

Yes, but again, we've never seen Will or Brad express any interest in it. I'm sure JP and Stefan probably would be into skiing especially given how popular the sport was during the 1950's-1960's but they don't really drive the story anymore, so we don't see them skiing even if they do actually do it. The only ice-centered sport we've seen any narrator express interest in was hockey with Matt/Wade/Gathan, and figure skating with JJ. I mean, it's entirely possible Stefan had skiing cabins built in the land he brought in Wyoming in 1998, but we don't really know. Mainly because Mark is probably not interested in snowboarding or skiing, so he doesn't really have the characters do it, either. LOL

Brad and Will are surfers. They have, as far as I can remember, not expressed any interest in skiing or even snowboarding. They do ride horses, as well as Wade and Matt.

Faces for Mark's Stories

I kind of saw Johnny Falco as either Gavin Casalegno or Hero Fiennes Tiffin. -
I kind of like your consistency in that you refuse to say SoCal, so of course you won't say NorCal, either. If I remember correctly you're not a fan of saying "The OC", either.

I can get into that. Dude does intensity well, and he's handsome, but not in a bland, cookie cutter way. Always thought that Jacob Elordi reminded me of a younger, taller Matt Dillon. -
I feel bad for anyone that actually wants to meet hookups at gay bars because it's just not like that anymore. It's really just a place for gays to hang out with their pre-established friends and dance to some gay themed music. Also for straight girls to drag their boyfriends who get "adored" by the DJ for the night.

Faces for Mark's Stories

I am currently obsessed with Nicholas Galitzine. Any fancast ideas, folks? I wanted Wade Danfield, but Mark pointed out (rightfully) that Nicholas has too much of an Eastern European/Russian look to him to fully embody Wade "WASP" Danfield. I mean, I can see it, but let's think up other roles for him! Maybe he can be a Soviet agent or something when Mark gets around to re-working A Summer Love. LOL -
I wouldn't go that far. I would, however, like for Will to be wrong on something and actually realize he's wrong. He always seems to "win" and that gets a little too Mary Sue for my tastes.
-
True. The "opposites attract" trope is fun, though, and I hope at some point Will has a thing with a poor scholarship student at Harvard who calls him "Preppie." Then dies of Ali MacGraw disease.
-
I don't know. Wade could always get corrupted. It's not like he doesn't have role models in that regard. Then again, I thought that

Okay, I do have to agree with you there. Although I can see why Mark isn't going there with Will moving into an apartment and learning how to cook his own meals and such. Because Will doesn't have to, and mundane stuff like that is boring unless you have a cute little bonding scene between two soap characters where a hunky dude teaches Will about cooking before they have sex. I do hope we get at least a little It Happened One Night homage where Will and some salt of the earth reporter type have to travel in somewhat unglamorous ways and Will has to mingle with the common folk for a night.
-
Actually, not really. I had friends with digital cameras who would take nudie pictures of themselves. AIM was the wild wild west back in those days.
-
I mean, that's true, but it's also true that JJ isn't an easily understood character. He keeps a lot of things to himself, maybe as a reaction to Will who can't help but put his business out all over the place in very public ways. Without spoiling future stories, I will say that I think Mark has done a wonderful job of slowly nudging JJ out of his comfort zone and making him grow up as a character. At the same, making sure that JJ stays true to himself. All in a mostly romantic comedy type of way. LOL I mean, right though? Will's the romantic drama lead character, while JJ is the romantic comedy character.
-
See, the funny thing is, I think JJ is actually an enigma. He's a snotty bitch but you really don't really know much about him because he keeps everything close to the vest. Whereas Will wears his heart on his sleeve because he's so passionate and reactive.
-
I swear to God I think your fantasy CAP story ending would be Will getting marched off to boot camp for out of control teens on Sally Jesse Raphael.
-
Meanwhile, JJ's safe hiding space is figure skating, so having Will be around and taking up all the attention is a massive annoyance for JJ. Although thankfully Will is going to move on to the next thing and JJ can go back to his pursuit of being on a Wheaties box after winning big in the '06 Olympics.
-
I prefer to think of Will as a Coquette.
-
I think Will was still over six feet tall. He was mostly done growing by the time he was 14. The idea that has been reiterated repeatedly is that Will looks like a 17/18-year old at the age of 14. You know, I once tried to talk Mark into doing a storyline where JJ hit an unexpected late growth spurt (picture Chris Colfer on Glee) that completely fucked up his balance and coordination but Mark decided that he liked JJ being short. And I was like, "Well damn, I can't live vicariously through that." One time there was this poster who seemed to be complaining about me giving Mark ideas and that I somehow was "controlling" the story and my response was, "You honestly think I could ever talk Mark into doing something he doesn't want to do? If I could CAP and current human time would have caught up like in 2013."
-
With Matt it's not that hard to figure out why, though. He's a handsome guy with a bangin' body, charismatic personality, and they got that Blue Blood thing in common.
-
I've been trying to get @PrivateTim to read JWolf's English Year. If he loves hating the CAP saga lead characters so much, he's going to have a field day with Corbin! Or The List and the sequel The Funny Thing Is. I feel like it kind of taught me a lesson that I can't advise a twenty something author on how to write like a 40-something dude with teenaged kids if I myself was all of 27. Lol
