So I'm just going to come out and say that Mark Arbour informed his writing team that he has contracted Covid19. Before you guys panic, just know that he says he's fine, but very tired and updates to the stories may slow down again. What a strange year it was to live through. I really enjoyed my early 30's and I had gone into 34 thinking it was going to more of the same. Same place of work, same places I went to on the days I had off, and pretty much the only difference in my life would be what movies where coming out when, or what community and regional theater shows I'd watch when I got the chance. (Last show I saw was a Delaware Children's Theater production of Newsies in January 2020. Quite fun.) There were things I always liked doing throughout the year- barhopping on Halloween, battling people at the mall on Black Friday, and my biggie- going out on New Year's and just barhopping. I tried doing the Halloween thing, but all the Covid19 restrictions were depressing. Didn't bother with Black Friday, and I stayed at home to watch the Ball Drop. The last time I was home on New Year's was in 2004-going-into-2005. Everything got upended, and I've basically spent a year of my life stuck in my room listening to music and watching YouTube videos. It hasn't been the tragic-filled year that it has been for a lot of people, and I'm covered in ways that a lot of people teetering on the edge of the abyss are not. I can't complain as much- I've lived through worse and got out through the other end. I'm not really sure what's next for me. When I was 25, that used to terrify me. At 35, I'm okay with just taking things as they come. Maybe I should be more proactive and try to figure out where I go now, but if there's anything this year taught me, it's that life changes on a dime like that. I just really hope there's some semblance of normal this year. We all need it.

Ella: 20 Zach: 18 JJ: 18 Marie: 17 Will: 17 John Hobart: 16 Riley and Maddie: 3 Robbie II: 10 months Anyway, 2004 was a pretty interesting year. Election years tend to be.

Yeah, 17. Only three and a half years have passed in Cap World since Poor Man's Son. Not that I've ever complained to Mark about this. *walks away innocently*

Playing hard to get seems to be the surefire strategy to get Will into you. LOL.

Eh, for JJ anything short of utter public humiliation is a W for him.

I liked the contrast here with the earlier scene (it's either this story or The Streak) where JJ awkwardly tries to give away money to strangers on a plane and winds up offending them. This gesture works because he actually knows the people and how to do it so they don't feel like a charity case. Yay for character growth. As for Carullo, I really like how they're navigating this friendship that almost verges into coupledom, but they can't really go all in because neither of them are at the place in their lives where they can.

True. He'll be content living off his trust fund. Perhaps maybe buying some rental properties. I think trust fund kids call that mailbox money. I do think it's funny that this generation doesn't seem all that ambitious. Brad even noted as such when he realized that Will was happy with his investment in Josh's club despite not making much money because it was making people happy. No one seems to have Stefan and Brad's cutthroat business sense. It makes sense though- JP's generation was the seed money, Stefan, Brad, and Robbie turned it into the billionaire dynasty, and the current young adults can just do whatever.

He's also still in high school.

JJ finally accomplished a family rite of passage- improving the real estate holdings of a friend. I did think it was funny JJ was annoyed at the joke about how he seemed too young to buy a house- I picture him as the kind of guy who will pass for Hollywood 16 even when he's 28. You just know having a babyface annoys the shit out of him. Not that he wants to look old, but looking like a kid probably annoys him. Especially when Will is supposed to look about 25.

I guess Carullo makes it number 5 for JJ. Aww. He's so chaste for this series. Lol.
