  1. thanks for the rec, I've liked JL-G since watching "Mysterious Skin", I read the book and thought it would take an exceptional actor to play the part. He did it. Amazing talent. I don't keep up with actors and such, but I get the feeling he's greatly underrated...maybe this will change.
  2. Mark, this story was beautiful. I'll admit it took me some time to get around to it. I was not sure what to expect. My resistance was from getting fixated on the Furlough title. Thinking it would be a "shore leave quickie" type scene (not that there is anything wrong with that) and never expecting this diamond with multifaceted layers. The depth of emotion generated by the two characters came through quite forcefully. The wounds physical and psychological, the unknown future and the short amount of time left to them...dah-um, you hit all the right notes. I am on a hunt for your other works. I fell in love with both these guys, I hope for a happy ending for them. A sequel would be a joyful gift for us. thank you for this and for sharing your writing gifts btw, I'm walking around my work place with a Cheshire cat grin after reading this...work? me? what's that?
  3. I was quite skeptical being a fan from my teen years of the Arthur legend. But the actors and scenery won me over. It is good for what it is, a nice romp in a Doctor Who kind of way, and it is apparently popular on BBC at the family hour. And it is astonishing to see all the liberties they take with the legend/history. That if anything keeps me interested "oh, they're going there with that story line, oh, they've changed so and so's lineage, or age " and the guest stars are some of Britain's best actors... it's just fascinating...and it's been a long time since I got into anything on TV Also amazing is at the almost instant development of slash sites and stories, the series is only a year old having been shown in the 2008 BBC tv season. There are entire slash sites up now and LJ has some good collections. I'd love to see a sociological study on fandom and slash development in the last 10 years. Just heard it was picked up for season 2...wonder what that means for NBC since they are importing the series.
  4. R E F I N E R Y Roland eased forward into Neds eager rosey...yard (keeping it clean...sort of) PUPATION
  5. 18 years and counting...can't remember when we weren't together and it's still feels wonderful to be in his company people say we deserve each other...although I'm not sure how they mean that... hasn't slowed us down yet though it was my second relationship, first one lasted 3 years (ended well) his first our motto for success "no drama" and "you cheat you die" ( )
  6. Just watched the first four episodes, (thank you video on demand)...is it my GA imagination or are there some lingering looks being exchanged by Arthur and Merlin. This is definitely an AU version of the Arthur legend...which makes me ask. Gay Authors where are you? some GA AU versions of these stories please, make that several versions... And the male leads are perfectly matched (beautiful IMHO), think young Spock and young James Kirk... It is also the oldest pattern, mutual dislike at first, eventual love blooming...the soap operas still use it, why, because it still melts your butter ...again, IMHO and now you throw in Lancelot...oh my...
  7. amazing work Myr, bravo you've given us more playground real estate I just ended a year and a half upgrade to a web site, it was supposed to be a 6 month job...so I know the fun of which you speak... take a break and enjoy the weekend, your hard work is greatly appreciated
  8. I agree thank the powers that be this is not an athletic group, if it were what with all the mutual support being given it would just be a group of jocks strapped and getting along... -I was forced to write that by my pun-ishing twin brother (oh, you had to say it didn't you)
  9. my sentiments exactly, we (all of us) can be the eternal circle no end, no beginning when seen in that light, the passing of a life time, is a ripple in the waters of oceanic time, and becomes meaningless and meaningful as the cosmic dance )kind of puts things in perspective( (and what was in that latte I just had)
  10. symbolic eh? supporters are Ouroboros, sustaining the group and being sustained by it how Greek...
  11. I am so sorry for your loss Kevin I lost my father last year of a sudden heart attack. What sustains me is the knowledge that we knew we loved each other and we had expressed as much to each other. From what you wrote it seems that was the case with you and your grandfather. Take strength from that knowing. take care of yourself, -aikirangel
  12. man, sorry to hear that I hate being laid up (is it a hospital, or some evil dungeon you've been assigned to?) you need help busting out of there? when I had knee surgery, I was going batty...and I was home on the couch after a short afternoon surgery. hope you get better and back to your surroundings
  13. quiet weekend so far, my mate and I had dinner with an old friend (my friend of over 30 years) caught up on the old neighborhood happenings. After dinner went our separate ways, my mate sleeps early, so I watched a movie and read It's weekends like these that really help to regenerate my batteries. Mate and I continue our nesting habits (18 years in August.) This evening I attend a life drawing class, we have a great looking male model, (gay and friendly, we've talked a bit in the past we compare our partners health issues and bad habits ) Always helps to get my drawing bits in a stir when the model is inspiring...as it were.
  14. Well, I spent last Saturday teaching at the dojo. I teach sometimes when the sensei is out of town, this time it was a regular class in the morning and a gaggle of newbies in the afternoon. God, was I ever that young...I don't think so...ever. anyway, hoping for a quieter weekend this time around.

  16. Hi everyone, I just joined a couple of weeks ago and have been amazed at the quality of writing here. I've spent several long nights reading a few stories...thankfully, I have a flexible work schedule so going in to work late was an option . I don't write but I read voraciously and occasionally am moved to draw or paint from the inspired wordsmithing I come across. I also make it a point of thanking the author whenever I read something, it seems only polite to thank someone for the gift they've shared. looking forward to getting to know y'all Aikirangel btw any Lovecraft fans around or stories related to the Cthulhu cult around here? point the way if there are hasta luego
