Teach Me How - 1. Poem

When I lost you it hurt so bad.
The wound keeps reappearing,
Like a cut on my skin.
I try to make the pain just float away,
But it is trapped in my heart, forever to stay.

This wound, it grew, as you left my world,
Your loss left a hole too large to be filled.
My friends tell me to remember all the good times we had,
But frankly I ignore them, too angry, too bitter, too mad.

No matter how many days go by,
I still find myself stopping to cry.
In the car, on the street, and the places we used to meet.

I’m jealous of others who don’t feel this sadness,
Their days not filled with the pain and the madness.
Trust me that I loved you more than you'll ever know.
Someone please teach me how to let this hurt go?

This is especially poignant. You have done a lovely job of expressing your pain and I hope you find the answer to release it. It is obvious how deeply you feel the loss. It is equally obvious how much you needed to express it.

Thank you for sharing. :hug::kiss::hug:

Thanks for reading it and your review. Yes, I did need to let it out.

I'm not sure the hurt ever really goes. I think we just learn to live with it.

Loss on that level is something we are never equipped to deal with, and when the time comes to try, everyone handles it differently. The only truth we all have to face up to, is that one day, we all have to face these feelings in some way.

Seeing another person hurting, or understanding that someone knows how bad you feel can be a place to start to feel again.

These are powerful emotions, words that hanker close and near for many of us, and for anyone that feels them, says them, or privately thinks them, may time grant you grace to deal and find peace.

Yettie, you are right. Although I am not as upset as I once was, things still happen which make it all come back. Some little thing will remind me of him.

Loss is something we all deal with differently. Time will come when the pain isn't so sharp and the memories become more treasured then painful to re-examine. You showed the pain and the grief clearly here, AJ. I am sure this was more cathartic than you thought it would be. Beautifully crafted as well.
Thanks for your review Wayne. I think this process helped me a lot including responding to reviews about it.
