My GA Writing Prompts - 8. Two Trains of Morning Thought

In response to Poetry Prompt 3 - Lyrics.
Two Trains of Morning Thought

Snowshoe paws land upon my chest
Morning's hard awakening
Go away, Cat; it's the weekend
Pussy purring patiently

Waterdog Trail Loop calls my name
Stretch limbs for pounding ride
Bike's been sitting on the trainer
But pumped and lubed, I'll glide

Thank you, Percy, for taking the Poetry Prompt 3 challenge! I'll add more thoughts in the prompt thread :)

Thanks, AC. The prompts are fun. I did think about the 8/7 cadence in the first stanza but I liked the way it sounded so I kept it. With emphasis on "way" and "pay" sounds in the offending lines, and a bit of an elide, it works.

I love the cat literally delivering morning's hard awakening! I remember that thud of paws on sternum so well. I had the same thought as carringonrj, that whole second stanza sounds like a double entendre!
Thanks, Irri. The 2nd and 4th lines of each stanza were all meant to be double entendres but didn't quite come off. Not sure I can parce my morning feelings into distinct categories. They are a jumble of: want sex-want to start on the day's agenda-want the cat to feed itself!
