Just some words - 1. Breathe deep

Breathe deep

of rain-drenched soil

of heated earth bathed by summer sun

of the young green things growing there

of this rich heady scent

breathe deep

this smell of life.

I grew up and still live in a rural area. The smells though not always pleasant evoke summer for me. I'm glad these words spoke to you. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, I wrote this after an early morning walk.

There's nothing quite like that period after the rain to release all of nature's redolance.

Btw thank you for this which was the other of your poems, that particularly spoke to me.

The feelings evoked by this poem were real to me as I remembered hiking at the timberline of Mt Hood. What a great image you paint with words.  Thanks dughlas for this.

I see you've found those few words I've posted. Sadly my muse went to sleep shortly after and I've been unable to rouse him. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.

Hi Dughlas,  Let me know where your muse is and I will wake him up. :fight: Your poems evoke wonderful images and deep emotions.

He slipped off about the same time I started taking different meds for my migraines. I haven't taken those meds for years but it seems they had a lasting effect on my muse. Every once and awhile I try poking him with a stick. He opens one bleary eye just a bit then groans before rolling over and drifting away again.
