Just some words - 4. Cry lamentations - a tanka

span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS,cursive;">This was originally written and posted in the Cards on the Table forum in shared grief with my friend Headstall. I'm posting it here now to honor my stepdad as he battles again with cancer.

Cry lamentations,

soft tears falling, mine, God’s,

the sky weeps with me

in shared grief, my face heavenward,

beseeching, yearning for comfort.

Thanks for reading my simple words.

Simple, heartfelt. I'm sorry to hear about your stepfather, dugh. I learned a long time ago there is no fairness, or rightness in this world. That's the poet's job.

peace, big brother

A wonderful testament to what's in your heart. I pray God hears this, and eases your pain... and that of your stepfather's. I believe words such as these, help... take care, my friend... Gary...

Thank you Gary. I wrote this in sympathy with you at Mallory's passing but it fits so well with where my heart is that it seemed right to share it again.

Shared grief can make that heavy burden easier to bare. All of your friends here at GA might not be able to be there for your in person, but you are always in our thoughts.:kiss:

Dugh, your poem speaks of the heartache of a difficult time. But, in the same breath, it speaks loudly and clearly of a love felt for another person.
Nicely done.

One of the great poet I know said, "Your poems need to be heartfelt and written with such an awe, but not to fulfill it's form and their rules."

I can see, he is right. I can felt you grief along I was reading. And sorry for bringing back this topic in the name of a review. Such an emotional filled poem Dugh. Hope a  from this friend might help a little bit...

I wrote this originally as an expression of shared grief for Gary but it comes to me now as an expression of shared anguish for the victims of Orlando. I'm glad that you could feel and hear what the words held. Thanks Emi.

If you family who paints using canvas as well as you do with words, they are indeed very talented.  I could feel the great sorrow and love you wrote in this poem.
