Going to the Movies--NaPoWriMo 2017 - 4. Day 16 to day 20

Sorry, I forgot to post this!

#16

Inspired by the angel-prompt and the movie ‘Der Himmel über Berlin’ (Wings of Desire).

A watcher
Never intervening
Guiding us,
Wanting more,
finally loved.

#17

Inspired by the apology-prompt and this scene from ‘Ten Things I Hate About You’.

Microphone, check!

You’re just too good to be true,
still, I screwed things up with you,
You’d be like heaven to touch
but I have messed up too much.

A simple ‘sorry’ won’t do,
that’s why I sing and dance too,
I throw myself to your feet
well and true on the hot seat.

Since then I’m feeling all blue.
Is that a smile? Oh God! Whew!
Now they can lead me away
and I am ready to pay.

If they can catch me, that is!

(italicized phrases adapted from the song ‘I can’t take my eyes of you’ by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio)

#18

Inspired by the ghost-letter prompt

I fold the armrest away
waiting for you,
you are late,
but the seat beside me
stays empty.
The coke is too large,
the popcorn too much,
the space too vast
but the seat beside me
stays empty.
The movie begins,
I turn to you,
want to take your hand
but the seat beside me
stays empty.
You were so looking forward to this,
told me you could hardly wait,
wanted to know the end,
but the seat beside me
stays empty.
I go home alone,
do not stay for the credits
like we normally do
because the seat beside me
is empty.
As my life is without you.

#19

Inspired by the manners prompt and the dinner scene from ‘The Undiscovered Country’.

Even when cultures
clash, the poet’s famous words
provide perspective.

#20

Inspired by the mirror prompt and the mirror scene from ‘Duck Soup’.

Hey you!
Hey me!
It’s you.
Is me?
If I turn my back?
If I shake my ass?
If I crouch down?
If I skip along?
If I dance
with my hands in the air?
Wrong hat! Right hat!
You, me.
Tit for tat,
he spoils all the fun.

Thank you for providing the prompts and all your help, Valkyrie! :)  I'm still a bit in a weird mood.

The 17 is so great, I had fun reading it. All of them are so good. I think about watching "Himmel über Berlin" again.

I watched Himmel über Berlin a few weeks ago. When I read the prompt I wrote something completely different before I remembered the film and everything suddenly became easy. Thank you for taking the time to read, like and comment, Lyssa.
