Going to the Movies--NaPoWriMo 2017 - 1. Day 1 - Day 5

Late as always, we rush inside,

Sorry!—step on feet in the dark,

find our seats: forty three, forty four,

the movie is about to start.

Fingers dig through buttered popcorn,

I laugh when your hand touches mine,

Trumpets sound. A long time ago...

And we leave our world—for a while.

For Echo.

A too tiny flame,

A fleeting moment with you

Good-bye my red-head.

Inspired by the ‘Careful ties his hat on...’ prompt by Janet Hutchinson, kindly forwarded to me by Valkyrie.

Action watches an explosion and thinks of rainbows.

Animation sharpens her crayons and puts them beside her Wacom tablet.

Comedy dries her eyes after she accidentally saw Drama perform.

 

Sci-Fi roars through space with blazing thrusters, forgetting all about silence in a place void of gas.

Mystery is lost, becoming entangled in his own machinations.

Documentary rambles on, loving the sound of his own voice.

 

Romance stares at the colorful world, having recently lost her rose-colored glasses.

Fantasy is excited to finally take a long-promised ride on his black, shiny dragon.

Film-noir paints everything in black and white, scrubbing fervently at those red bloodstains.

 

Sport looks for a coach in a dingy bar, only to find him running in a park already cleaned of his addiction.

Thriller polishes her guns, then goes into the lab, mixing her very own kind of poison.

Western roams the open range, looking for cowboy rebels.

Closed curtain,

soft murmurs.

 

A couple looks for their seats.

The light dims.

 

I can’t wait to hold your hand

in the dark.

A picture is but a moment frozen,

but the curious mind wants more.

What was before?

What will be after?

And thoughts become words,

become pictures,

become alive,

become movement.

I love them all, Addy :)  What a great idea to pick a theme for the month!  The tribute to Echo was very moving.  :,(  I love #5.  The revisions are perfect.  Great job!  I can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

At the movies indeed. The poem listing the genres is very clever and engaging. The one about the red-head is the most mysterious, but I suppose it has a movie tie-in (Woody Woodpecker...? ;) idk )

 

The opening one is great, and so is the followup about holding your hand in the dark.

Thank you, AC! The read-head...it's the little kitten I lost last Sunday. Couldn't concentrate on the main theme, I was so sad, so no movie-tie in with that one. Aww, of course you noticed the follow up. :)

Your 'going to the movies' theme is a compelling way to tie your poems together while leaving plenty of room for experimentation. I like each of your poems here for week #1. The 'Careful' themed poems that many people have written are the most interesting, and yours are great. "Romance stares at the colorful world, having recently lost her rose-colored glasses." Really, really good. Your 'For Echo' poem was sweet but sad, and your six-line-form poem of holding hands in the dark theater made me smile. Thanks for sharing, Aditus!  Cheers - Mac

I loved them all, but especially the first three. Poor Echo. I'm sorry. :(

 

I could read number three over and over again. The way you word the poem is just amazing. I can picture Comedy drying her eyes because she's used to laughing, and now she's watching Drama who made her cry. The one with Sport going into a bar to look for a coach is just so original. The whole poem is so original. I'm just so impressed by this, actually by all the poems.

 

Great job, Addy! :)

I'll do as I did with the others, reviewing/commenting on each poem individually. 

 

  1. If you was eager, I have already told my opinions about the first poem. You will find it here. 
  2. :,(:,(:,( I can't stop my tears as I was reading it. Echo has been my favorite of all when it was born. Thanks for the tribute. I'll try to something for her too.
  3. It was presented as crazy as the other poems. And I enjoyed thoroughly. Your story covered so many people and things they do. Fantastic actually. I enjoyed reading it. 
  4. My favourite prompt of all. And your poem is lovelier. I can feel the intensity of one heart to hold his/her's soul mate. I loved that particular aspect. Such a lovely poem. But as per the prompt it missed second I sentence in the  last line. But it can be ignorance as you wrote your poem so adorable. 
  5. I don't know with what expecting you had written this poem or on what theme. I can see the clear cut info of how made made developments throughout his life span. He is still not satisfied and still trying to take the movement to beyond measures and imagination. Very thoughtful poem. And presented beautiful taking 'Human' into consideration. 

I liked all the poems very much Adi. They are beautiful, fantastic and thoughtful poems. And I still can't stop tears for Echo. Well done buddy.
