A Man in a Room, and other poems - 15. To stick at nothing

nice motley crew  i like #38 the best, even if i don't understand the 2 last line about the newborn. 

Motley? I prefer varied. No. 40 strikes me with sadness, multiplying my melancholy. That mood started building in No. 39, syllable by syllable, beat by beat, as soon as I left off puzzling over No. 38. What do newborns know of death? Yet, in some ways, they do - for their life in the womb is over, and they have entered a new world where sight joins sound, and touch is magnified. These progress from the bouncy brightness of No. 37, with one of my favorite of your phrases, the 'knuckly knock.'  No, these are not motley, but artful. Thank you.

This made me very wistful today... Some very nice penstrokes.

i think you're being a bit hard on your 21 year old self.  they are all good, but the line 'death is refreshing' just sticks with me. It has so many layers..

Thanks for the review, Moggy. I appreciate it. I guess No. 38 was intended to be  a bit of a challenge, then again when I wrote it, I don't think I ever imagined anyone reading my poems.
