Poetry by Renee - 8. Path to Nowhere

Found this poem that i wrote years ago, but it was never posted.

Standing on a teetering bridge

Looking over the precipice.

Big black pit that never ends

Light never to be found.

Journey through the darkness

Never reaching the end.

Questions with no answers

Decisions needing to be made.

Numbness a constant companion

Pain that never recedes.

Nothing ever good can come

Will never be good enough.

Hands pulling every which way

Unable to escape their clutches.

Weak of heart and mind

Success never to be found.

Forgettable in the light of day

Haunting dreams throughout the night.

Destined for unrelenting disappointment

Never to be revered or enjoyed.

Words always spoken with malice

No warmth found in their depths.

Opinions never seem to matter

Thoughts never to be heard.

Tripping over obstacles blocking the path

A path that leads to nowhere.

that was pretty bleak, but i get it  ... well done

Thank you, tim, and i know you get it, though i wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone. xoxo

tim is correct. I've seen this from the other side, watching this happen to tim. I hope you are doing better now, renee.

Thank you, Sir. Knowing how it feels, i can't even imagine having to witness it happening to someone i love. i am doing better, though there are still the occasions that the darkness descends.

First off, never preface your poem with a warning about the content. Let it speak for itself. As for the poem -  very powerful, digging deep into the dark recesses we never like to go, mirroring insecurities and anxieties that every human feels at one time or another. My hope is that you don't get to this point again, my girl, and that, if you do, you lean on the people who will bring you back to center.

Thank you, Sir. I've edited the chapter note as you suggested. And thank you, Sir, for all of your comments. Some days it is more of a struggle than others, but i haven't reached that point for a long time, and i know that i am NOT alone and need to lean on those that care before it actually gets that far. It is much easier to keep to center than it used to be.

It’s hard to comment on this. Moments and feelings so well understood. It’s nice knowing you came through. Hoping you feel the love that’s in your life.

Thank you, jp! I did come through, a little bent, but not yet broken. There are so many people who love me, in one way or another, and i am very lucky. i try to remember that on the not so good days now and it helps me through.
