Holding Back 1. Marvel Universe Fanfic

   (2 reviews)
Fandoms: Marvel Comics

A Deadpool/Spider-Man fanfic. Wade wants to be a hero, but fighting bad guys isn't enough to keep things interesting. Wooing Spider-Man might help, though. And exploring his kinks definitely will. Of course, he never thought anything would come of either of these things. Boy, was he wrong!

This was originally going to be a story about Deadpool exploring every depraved kink I could think of, but it has devolved into a Spideypool fluff piece. That's what happens when you don't really have a plan, I guess... Wasn't sure if I should even post it to GA, as fanfic doesn't usually get much traction, but this story currently has nearly 50k hits and over 2500 kudos on AO3, which officially makes it the most popular thing I've ever written, so I figure why not. Enjoy!
Note: 'The boxes' are the voices in Wade's head, referred to as such because they show up as text boxes in the comics.

I didn't know who Deadpool was before I read this story (I've watched the movies now). It didn't matter, I was hooked from the first chapter, and I laughed my way through most of the story. In fact, reading this story made me understand him in a way which I'm sure enhanced my enjoyment of the movies.

Thorn did a fantastic job of making me believe in how a relationship between these two comic characters is not only reasonable, but perfect too. And Deadpool's interaction with those boxes is some of the funniest dialogue I've ever read. :lmao:

Thank you for such kind words, my friend!

I loved the story from start to finish, along with how it somehow read like a real comic issue. Not a single chapter was boring, and everything flowed well. I enjoyed the progression. The action, the bantering, the build-up, the drama, the plot, and even the smut was all well-written. Nothing felt rushed or slow.

I'm not normally a fan of stories written in present tense. But , if you're the same way, I ask that you please overlook it. Why? Well, present tense is actually quite fitting for a story that has the flow of a comic book issue. The flow and direction which with this author writes will not lead you astray. This author's a storyteller through and through.

It was a very rewarding read!

Response from the author:

I'm glad you could get past the present tense. I know it's something a lot of people dislike. Thank you!
