Wolf Pack - 3. The Moon's Curse

SANDOLIN

Sandolin was out of bed at the sound of the first knock on the door. His clothes were on an instant later, before Danuva got the door opened.

“How’s he doing?” the human whispered.

“I’m awake,” Paelius said, not bothering to raise his head.

“My apologies, how are you doing?” Danuva corrected.

“I feel like the Adamantine Tower fell on me.”

“That’s an easy problem to fix. I’ll be right back.”

Sandolin noticed Paelius’ hand snaking towards his as Danuva left the room, and he clasped the fingers that stretched for him.

“I need you to continue my search for a cure Sandolin,” Paelius said.

“Without you sir?”

“Yes. The way my body feels, I won’t be moving much for at least a week.”

“You moved nicely last night,” Sandolin blushed, memories of his prince sliding in and out of him filling his mind.

“You are good motivation,” Paelius smiled tightly, pulling Sandolin down toward him.

Their lips met softly, the prince letting out a pained breath, but refusing to release his squire. Sandolin was worried about him, but it wasn’t his place to tell Paelias to stop. He loved kissing his prince, but not if it meant hurting the other elf.

Danuva returned to the room a moment later with a clay mug in his hands.

“Drink up,” he smiled, pressing the mug gently into Paelius’ hand.

Sandolin watched suspiciously as his prince drank the tincture.

“I have to ask, did you get the hunter?” the human questioned.

Both Sandor and Paelius scowled at Danuva.

“What? I don’t want a hunter anywhere near me.”

“How did you know I was attacked by a hunter?”

“We found you with silver burns all over your body. Besides the one on your wrist.”

Paelius glanced down at his wrist, then growled at the human.

“Where is my bracelet?”

Sandolin lifted the metal off the bed stand, feeling a strange warmth emanating from the metal. He handed the silver to Paelius who grimaced as he reattached the object to his body.

“Why?” Danuva asked.

“He doesn’t need to justify himself to you,” Sandolin said.

Paelius’ hardened gaze turned to his lover.

“Sandor, I want you on the road before midday,” he ordered.

“Yes, My Pr- yes sir,”

“There is a city to the east. I hope you will be able to get through where I failed.”

“I don’t want to leave-”

“I’ll be fine Sandor. Return in a month’s time if I haven’t joined you by then.”

Paelius lifted his hand slightly in a pained dismissal.

Sandor bowed stiffly and left the room. Walking from the house, the elf turned north, following the road.

DANUVA

He had to constantly remind himself the elf was royal. Paelius didn’t act like it.

With the exception of the other elf…

Danuva handed a plate of chicken to the elf, making sure he ate all of it. It was the fourth day of Paelius sleeping in his bed, and he felt comfortable enough to have the elf try standing today. Danuva was a healer first and foremost. He would deal with any confusion about who the werewolf was later.

The human washed his plate off and stopped by his room again.

“I’m heading out to get some water. You should be safe enough here, but if anyone shows up, I’ll leave the sword you brought back near you.”

“Thank you,” Paelius sighed, resting his head on the pillow again.

Danuva smirked. His patient was getting restless being stuck in bed for so long. It was a common problem the man had to solve. He’d bring out his marble collection that evening, and they could play a game.

The man made his way to the creek and filled two buckets this time. He took his time carrying them back to the house, a yoke balancing the weight evenly over both shoulders. Building a fire within his home, Danuva began heating the water, pouring the liquid into a large tub when he was finished.

Returning to his room, Danuva woke his patient gently.

“I drew a bath for you,” he said.

Paelius raised an eyebrow as he sat up.

“You mean to tell me I can get out of this damned bed?”

“For a little while at least,” Danuva chuckled.

He pulled Paelius’ legs off the bed, his brown pants seeming rather small on the elf. Offering his shoulder to support Paelius, Danuva waited.

“I’m not broken,” the elf snapped.

“You seemed rather broken when you showed up,” Danuva countered.

Paelius stood up, and promptly lost his balance, falling back into the bed.

Danuva pulled the elf’s arm over his shoulder with a snicker. He felt Paelius put pressure on his body, and stood up with the elf.

Paelius sniffed the air, a tiny growl in his throat. His nose suddenly pressed into Danuva’s neck and the werewolf inhaled deeply.

“It’s you?” he muttered.

“What?”

“Um… Nothing.”

The growth in Paelius’ pants said otherwise. Danuva knew it likely didn’t mean anything, but for some reason a part of him wanted it to mean something.

Shaking his head, Danuva helped the elf over to the basin filled with warm water.

“I’m afraid I don’t have any soap like you must be used to,” he apologised.

Paelius waved the apology off, fighting with the knot holding his pants up.

“I’ll leave you to it,” Danuva said with a sigh.

“Fuck!” Paelius snapped.

He looked at Danuva, anger in his eyes.

“Can you help me?”

The human was on his knees an instant later, the knot in his hands. He untied it quickly, ignoring the lump that his hands seemed to find with every move. The string fell away, and Paelius took a breath.

“Thank you.”

Nodding, Danuva quickly left the room. He glanced over his shoulder, catching the elf stepping into the tub. Danuva tore his gaze away from the elf’s ass and hurried outside, trying to calm himself. It didn’t work.

PAELIAS

The moon was full tonight and Paelius was going crazy.

He hadn’t been able to shift since he had arrived injured on Danuva’s doorstep two weeks ago. But the moon was practically screaming for him to change. Worse, he wanted to hump anything and everything around him.

The elf limped restlessly through the building, back and forth. He needed to get out of here, but the man wouldn't let him leave. He was still injured, and it surprised him. Since becoming the monster he was, he had been healing a lot faster. Perhaps the silver had something to do with it. His wrist never healed.

The smell of lavender increased as he heard the front door open. Paelius whimpered quietly as Danuva entered the room. His body was burning, feverish, and he felt himself reacting to the man.

“I caught a rabbit trying to rob my garden,” Danuva spoke, holding up a hare.

His words seemed to come through a tunnel. Paelius could feel his blood rushing to his head, then suddenly rushing to his crotch.

Danuva turned and walked toward the kitchen, fleeing Paelius. The elf’s wolf snapped.

Lunging forward, Paelius caught the human, knocking them both to the ground.

“What the fuck?!” Danuva yelped, rolling over.

Paelius’ lips slammed into the human’s mouth, his body humping into Danuva’s crotch.

Danuva squirmed, breaking free from the werewolf, and Paelius growled loudly.

“Calm down Paelius,” Danuva demanded. “The moon’s got ahold of you.”

The wolf ignored the man, stalking him. He crouched in human form, growls and whimpers escaping from his throat as he studied Danuva. The lavender was everywhere, the smell running through him, and the man who made it was standing right there, in his reach.

But he was saying no.

Paelius whined, falling to his knees. He dropped onto all fours as his arm exploded in pain. Rolling, Paelius realized he had been forced to shift.

He whimpered, panting as he tried to stand. A man stepped toward him, lavender pouring from him, and Paelius lunged forward, licking the human’s hand. He tasted so good, a mix of sweet and salty.

‘Mine’ his wolf rumbled.

The word made Paelius freeze. Danuva wasn’t his. He barely knew the human. And Sandor-

‘He’s ours too…’ the wolf purred.

Paelius felt a hand stroking his back and he huffed, calmer in wolf form. He still wanted the human though.

Raising a paw, the wolf swiped at Danuva, tearing a piece of the human’s shirt off. He rubbed his cheek on the fabric, snorting in the scent. Paelius could hear Danuva’s heart thumping in his chest, and suddenly the fabric wasn’t enough.

He knocked Danuva back to the ground and flopped on top of the human, rolling to gather as much of his smell as he could.

Danuva laughed, trying to push the werewolf off him. Paelius focused for a moment, a long moment, fighting to change again. He forced himself back into elf form, lying naked on top of Danuva.

“You smell good,” he said.

“Are you better?” Danuva asked, lying still under the elf.

His heart was still beating loudly, and in fact, it sounded like it had picked up its speed.

“I’m not crazy any more,” Paelius replied, lowering his mouth to Danuva’s.

He hesitated, searching Danuva’s green eyes.

‘Please…’

The human lifted his chest, pressing his lips into Paelius’ gently. Paelius moaned quietly into Danuvas mouth, pushing into the human.

Soft hands cupped his ass and he ground against Danuva. Grabbing the man’s ruined shirt, he nearly ripped the rest of it off. Danuva wriggled under him, removing his pants before Paelius could tear into them.

And then they were naked against each other and Paelius’ wolf went wild.

Raising Danuva’s legs, the elf thrust against the human, seeking entrance roughly. He rammed his way into Danuva and the man yelped in pain.

Danuva breathed heavily, gripping the globes of the elf’s ass as Paelius humped him rapidly, filling him completely. There was a burning need in the werewolf, a desire for him to take his mate and make him his. And he listened to that need.

It didn’t take long for him to release his seed deep in Danuva, and Paelius raised his head as he finished, howling in triumph.

Danuva was a part of his pack.

I want to know how can he resist shifting on full moon night or shift back to elf form? Is there some trick to it I need to know? In other stories I saw wolves being forced to shift when moon rose and unable to shift back until dawn?

To be absolutely honest, this is a plothole created by the fact that I was new to werewolves at the time and terrified of having shifted werewolves bone. By all rights, Paelius should have remained in wolf form, and that will be reflected when I do my next round of edits on this story.
