Tristan's High School Life - 48. Chapter 48

All right, we learn what Jack wanted... and we learn a little more about Darren's family and a tragedy they had.

Jack's POV

"Tristan, please go upstairs. I need to talk with your father." I said.
"Dad, you going to be ok?" Tristan said, and using dad caught TJ off guard.
"Sure, kiddo, I'll be ok," TJ said, ruffling Tristan's hair. "What's going on, Jack."
"How could you?" I seethed.
"How could I what?" TJ said with a puzzled look.
"You both had sex last night," I said through gritted teeth.
"Look, we talked, and one thing led to another," he said and shrugged.
"Oh, I suppose you're moving right back in too?" I asked.
"Hold it right there; we are two consenting adults," TJ said hotly. "For your information, I will not be moving back in. We plan on working things out before that occurs. I have more to work through, and I don't want to jeopardize anything."
"That's good," I said.
"That's all you have to say?" TJ retorted. "You know what, Jack, why don't you frickin butt out."

He walked right to the elevator and went straight upstairs, and I stayed in the lobby trying to figure out how to smooth things over. I eventually went up to their joint apartment and paused at the door, as I could hear arguing inside between Jackson and Tracy. I hesitantly opened the door and walked into the apartment, heading towards the yelling.

"Really, Dad, you and Pop grilled TJ over what we did as two consenting adults? Did you know we talked and worked through a few things? From the look on your face, I already know the answer. He didn't lure me anywhere I didn't want to be, and if you can't figure it out, I love him despite his faults; I'm not perfect, and neither are you," Jackson spat.

"Look, Jackson, we had no idea," Tracy said sincerely.
"Exactly, no idea, yet you decided to insert yourself," Jackson said, starting to pace.
"I suggest you both leave," Tristan said.
"I think its best," Hunter said, backing up his brother with Jackson nodding in agreement.

We both left without any further words.

Tristan's POV

"They were mad that you both hooked up?" I asked.
"Apparently," Jackson replied curtly.
"I understand their concern, but since I saw you both enter my apartment, I know that no one did anything they didn't want to," I said.
"What did you see?" Jackson said, horrified.
"Nothing," I said, being cheeky.
"He saw us enter; the video surveillance only covers the entry and main parts of the house," TJ said.
"What a relief," Jackson said, and we all laughed.
"I've talked to Rory, and he is going to modify my schedule so I can help keep an eye on Tristan," TJ said. "I need to know your schedule, so there is no overlap. I thought one of us could do mornings and one afternoon and trade-off evenings."
"Evenings are family time," Jackson began, "So I expect you and I to be here every day."
"I can do that," TJ said with a smile.
"Good," Jackson said.
"Oh, I want to barf," I said, making Hunter laugh.
"You too are so corny," Hunter said.
"On that note, you know your Freshman year is coming to an end?" TJ asked.
"Yeah, you have finals, you missed," Jackson said.
"Oh great more tests," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Gavin decided to let Xander wait so you could take the exams together," TJ said.
"Xander waited?" I asked.
"Yes, he wanted to wait for you," Jackson said.
"How sweet," Hunter said and made a gagging sound.
"Boys, get your siblings; we will have lunch," Jackson said.
"What are we having," I asked.
"Deli sandwiches," Jackson said.
"Such a city boy," TJ said.
"What do you call them," Jackson retorted.
"Well, my mom called the cold cuts, and dad called them hoagies," TJ replied.

It was nice to see them bantering. It has been a while, and I think this whole separation might be good for TJ and Jackson.

TJ's POV

I had a few more sessions with Darren. It was rather interesting as Jack and Tracy had all but disappeared. Darren told me he had a talk with them after I told him what happened, and he was proud of how Jackson and I were handling the situation.

"So TJ, I wanted to tell you, my husband Diego and I are relocating to the city. His cousin runs a medical practice here in the city and needs someone with his experience. Diego's been the Chief of his department back in Denver and wanted to step down, but there's been no one to run it." Darren said.
"So I guess having you come here was a blessing in disguise," I said.
"Yes, it was. We found a place near Jack and Tracy that we can live in and have rooms for our boys' visit," Darren said.
"What will you be doing?" I asked.
"Well, I am a certified Social Work and Therapist, so I should find something easily," Darren replied.
"We've needed someone with your experience at Shepard Tower for the live-in children," I said, dropping a hint.
"I have a few other places, but I can add your place to my list," Darren said.
"Are you hesitant for any reason?" I said, concerned.
"We wouldn't be able to continue our sessions if you're my boss," he replied.
"True," I said.
"I'll consider it but make no promises," Darren said. "I may know someone, though."
"Who?" I asked, intrigued.
"My son Paulo," Darren said. "He's been a therapist for a while, and Denver has so many bad memories for him. Not sure if you know, but he's a widow. He lost his wife and two children in a terrible accident."
"No, I didn't; that's terrible," I said.
"He still blames himself. His wife Melody was driving home from visiting her parents in Colorado Springs, and an 18 wheeler hit an ice patch and careened across the highway and landed on top of their car, crushing everyone inside," Darren said.
"That's terrible," I replied.
"Getting him out of Denver would be the best thing for him, but I fear he may not want to leave Melody and the kids. He fell into a deep depression and moved in with Deigo and me. We sent him to Spain to be with his grandparents for a while, but they said he never left the couch. You and Jackson are close to his age, and I think you guys could be friends," Darren said.
"What about his brother?" I asked
"Pedro?" Darren said with a chuckle. "He'd follow his brother. He's been in a couple of relationships with both men and women. He was in a long-term relationship when Paulo lost his family, but when Pedro started spending almost every free moment with his brother, the guy left him."
"Sounds like they are close," I said.
"They are very close, especially since they are twins," Darren said.
"What no way," I said.
"Yeah, the grief made Paulo age," Darren said.
"What does Pedro do?" I asked.
"He works in politics, mainly campaigns as a Strategy Manager," Darren said.
"We are trying to unseat a US Senator; we might be able to use him," I said.
"Is there anything you aren't involved in?" Darren asked with a chuckled.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter.

Great chapter. It was great to see TJ and Jackson put Jack and Tracy right over what happened.

The atmosphere as a family seems greatly improved.

We've had a few other's but they seem to die... except Kat. She is the longest living straight character.

On one of my other stories someone commented that I had way too many gay people and how it didn't seem real. So I guess for some razzle dazzle I added in a new straight character.

Damn. Another chapter that had both light and dark themes running through it. Seems you don't want to commit to one or the other even for a short time.

Leaving the constantly sparring older but not necessarily wiser Tristan and Jack in opposite corners, we turn to TJ. As he begins to make progress with the guidance and support of Darren, we learn of Darren's own family tragedy with the death of his son Paulo's wife Melody and their two children in a horrible road crash in Colorado. Unable to deal with his grief, Paulo's twin brother Pedro helps him. And Darren is bringing his sons with him to New York to watch over them.

So again, more family dynamics at play, with both dark and lightness, despair and hope.

This story needs both good and bad things in it as life all around usually isn't that peachy.

Things are going to turn around for Paulo as he will meet someone who rocks his world and shocker it's a woman. We have not met this woman yet.

Pedro is going to jump feet first into the job and have a surprise romance.

I decided I won't break this story up and hopefully get some more focus on Tristan and Xander. We also need to see the others... who's names are escaping me. You know Dom and the twins.

Side note: I have a friend coming up so the next chapter might be a bit.
