IN THE BARB Book Cover.png

The Montana sky is wide, coffee strong, and wounded souls are never turned away from Two Spirits Horse Ranch. When Jake finds a young stranger left for dead at the north gate, his promise to protect him draws the whole ranch into a fight against fear, memory, and the men who might return to finish what they started. Warm, funny, tender, and suspenseful, In the Barb is a Western romance about found family, survival, and the kind of love that begins as rescue but grows into home.

Another top 10 placing at #2 in the Most Read Westerns genre, this time for the month ending 07/08/26. Two months in a row this story has placed in the top 10 at #4 and now #2. Well done @Vcs. I am not surprised by this at all as the story is a well-written character-driven one.

Ah shucks, @Summerabbacat, now you have me blushing like crazy! As I've said before, I was surprised anyone was reading In the Barb, especially given it's my first publication on GA. Any success, though, is greatly due to having such amazing support with invaluable comments, feedback, and suggestions. You have my heartfelt thanks for all the time you put in.

The saying about taking a village to raise a child is nothing compared to the village it takes to support and encourage the old and technologically challenged. Thank you again! 🤗🤗

And, of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also thank @Kileoli for his kind assistance in learning how to publish here.

It is a nice story, and I bet with the new edits it's a lot better ( though still not my genre). It was fun helping you(not). We were very frustrated at times but I'm proud of you and I'm very glad I did it. I found a wonderful friend

In The Barb is an amazing story with fantastic characters. While now up to Chapter 17, the assortment of characters has grown, their continued development, painting of scenes, and so much more make this well worth the read. Compliments too on editing.

How anyone can leave a hateful comment followed by the word "friend" is beyond comprehension. I, for one, am disappointed to see a fine new author on GayAuthors.org receive such disrespect.

Keep writing; @Vcs, your efforts are respected and appreciated.

Thank you, @Wiyot. What a thoughtful message. No worries, I haven't survived this long by paying any mind to the kinds of things it takes to play the role of keyboard warrior.

One of the many great things about GA is the vast assortment of genres to choose from, so there's something to fit everyone's taste.

Again, your kindness is appreciated. Sending gentle hugs for now or when you feel the need.

@Wiyot why do I get an angry reaction?

I didn't mean it to insult, i liked the story and the part with not being fun helping was meant mostly at myself for not being able to make things easier for @Vcs. It was frustrating for both of us to get the first thing published, after that she's doing a great job.

If I hurt anyone, I apologize. I thought @Vcsknew I wasn't serious about that part.
